Stone Cold (1991)
8/10
Good show. Above average B action movie.
14 July 2001
This film is a high-end B-movie with over-the-top action and a good amount of Ultra-Violence dished out at any moment it can. The film is fast paced and does not sit still for a single moment which is great. The film itself is nearly 2 hours long, so if you are looking for an action packed movie then this one is a good choice. The stunts are good, the film making above average for a B movie and also it has a plot! Normally when you rent a film with a guy on the cover with a mullet haircut and a gun, you can expect a bit of drama here and there, a few stunts and lots of nudity. Actually this film has limited nudity (a couple of go go dancers, chick lying on her front in the bed.), but more than makes up for it's adult theme with the violence. Overall this film is sort of cool and you leave it somewhat satisfied. You get more than your average B movie action flick in this package. Oh yeah, almost forget. It's a great Biker movie too.

Trauma (1993)
Not so good, dissapointing Argento film.
18 September 2000
This is a dissapointing effort from Argento who should know better. The film itself is not half as good as his previous works and....although I hate to say it......is not very scary at all. In fact it is boring. Oh...no, what went wrong??? I think this film may have some deep personal meaning for the director but it does nothing for the viewer. I have tried to watch this film and I mean I have tried with a capital 'T', but still it has no effect. This is one Argento film that should never have been made.

Phenomena (1985)
Good horror film.
18 September 2000
This one is a bit of a jumper and has a really errie edge to it. I found this film in the back of a video store and decided to rent it out. This film is not for the faint of heart and really is one of those nasty ones. At times the film does float into very abstract levels of thought and tends to develop a collage of visual fantasy rather than a run-of-the-mill- movie.

This is what is known as real Euro-horror. The ending is a real shocker. Well done Mr. Argento

Argento edit of romero classic
18 September 2000
This is a fun idea.

With this version of Dawn of the Dead, director Dario Argento has been handed the editing desk and has recut the Romero movie to his own taste. This is not the only cut of Dawn of the Dead as there are 3 - 4 others out there. With this Dario has added more zombies into the action. Watch both this one and the original Romero edit. Smashing idea lads.

very very scary.
12 August 2000
I saw this film some years back and it scared the crap out of me. I mean this movie is a real fright of a film to watch. It flipped me out totally. The whole atmosphere of the movie is dark, wet and dreary and then along comes Dracula's Widow and then things go Red. This is a very scary film and is not well know. If you are here then i recommend picking this one up along with Salem's lot and another film called Vamp. This is really truly scary......... ............by the way all my friends have said that the most scary movie of all time is one called 'The Woman in Black' and was made for T.V in 1989. It is supposed to be totally off it's game.

Lady Dracula (1977)
A rip of Countess Dracula
12 August 2000
This is a rip of the film Countess Dracula and is not as good. Countess Dracula is the 1971 classic with Ingrid pitt.

This is plain rubbish and not very good even though most european horrors are. - Check out the Roman Polanski movie -'Dance of the vampires' (aka Fearless Vampire Killers, The) instead.

what is a Golem?
12 August 2000
A Golem is an old Czech fairy tale that Mary Shelly stole and rewrote as a film called - Frankenstein. Yes, that is right Frankenstein is a rip-off - A fake, a fraud.

So now it is your duty to go a find out what the Czech fairy tale is about. Watch this film. It is about the Golem, (a story that has been passed from generation to generation), a creature that was created by a Jewish Rabbi......and if you have seen Frankenstein then you what else I am about to tell you.

Go watch this real Frankenstein movie

A deep dark mystery lies on the other side of the moon......
11 August 2000
The problem with this film was that when it first came out on video they actually exposed what was on the dark side of the moon on the video cover and spoiled the plot for everyone. I remember this because all the movie magazines went hell for leather about it. Anyway, apart from that the film is not good and is drawn out and not very intresting and pretty lame and is not as good as another film called moontrap. If you have seen moontrap then you probably understand that this is garbage. It is not even as good a XTRO. It is just another lame 'alien' rip. I see that the new cover is better than the old one because it doesn't show the picture of all the XXXX(deleted)XXXX on the moon.

Look go find a second hand version of this movie in the back shelf on some video store and buy it just for the sake of having a good laugh at the cover and when the final mystery is revealed at the end of the film.

Loners (2000)
A great story of growing up, relationships, friendships, obsessions and coincidences.
18 May 2000
A great story of growing up, relationships, friendships, obsessions and coincidences. Samotari is first and foremost a very very funny film. The film runs around and within ten parallel stories, which, on more than one occasion, stream by one another to great new situations for the characters to deal with. The key to enjoying this move is to watch how quickly everything unravels and then knots back up again. The characters are a hoot to watch as they try to come to terms with their past and at the same time look towards the future. This is the kind of film that can stand along side such independent movies as those by Aki Kaurismaki and Jim Jarmush and be proud of itself. It looks great, sounds fab and makes you laugh so much that more than one toilet visit may accidentally happen while watching it. This is also an Eastern European movie and puts to shame most of what is coming out of Britain and America at the moment. The cast are so functional that when you leave the movie they do not leave you. This is the kind of stuff that people want to see. Not the 95% trash that ends up on video shelves every month. More luck to the film makers.

Do not miss this movie!!

Ben Holland.
