A film student's work is complete.
10 June 2000
Back in 1984 when I was attending CEGEP at Dawson Collage in Montreal,I had the pleasure of taking a course titled Film Nouveau taught by Mr. Kazoom. It was there that I got to view Mother's meat and meet with the director. The film itself at first viewing was not that impressive and I found that it was evident that this was an art film by a first time director who was eager to display all his known filming techniques. Now 16 years later it has occurred to me that the film, unlike so many other films that I have seen is still quite memorable, the scenes where the fish is placed on the table and the dining room scene are still fresh in my mind today. If you are the kind of person who enjoys art films then I recommend this film to you;there are many parts of the film that escape my memory, but the fact that many scenes are still crisp in my mind that one has to admit that the director did indeed create art on film and for this he should be proud.I hope to see this film again if the opportunity ever arises again.
