For Richer or Poorer (1997)
Lighten up Folks its HUMOR not ROFL
This is a nice fun movie that I really enjoyed. OK, its not great art, but it serves very well as entertainment. I thought it was not insulting to Amish or their way of life, it was very amusing to see how caught up we sometimes allow ourselves to get in things that in the long run don't really matter. I like how the characters interacted with one another. This is light humor with a little depth, its not slapstick. If you enjoy being amused, without having to "LAUGH OUT LOUD", you will probably enjoy this film.
2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
A GREAT FUN flick, I am just here for the entertainment...
Fast cars, pretty girls, high speed chases, solid racing. What you were expecting maybe "Gone with the Wind"? This is a fun thing to watch suspend disbelief at the door and enjoy yourself for the time its on the screen. Reminded me a lot of classic car shows of the seventies(i. e. Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard etc.) You want some serious drama go see something else. You want an entertaining 2 hours go see this.
Monkeybone (2001)
This is a GREAT under-rated flick
I cannot believe all of the negative reviews about this movie. It really is a lot of fun to watch, very entertaining. I wish it had been a touch sexier and a touch darker, but you cannot have everything. Kitty is really hot to watch. Get the DVD of this for all the extras. If you like surreal slapstick DO NOT miss this movie.
Rainbow Bridge (1972)
No Really, This is a GOOD MOVIE!!!
OK. Its not really a movie about Jimi Hendrix or a Jimi Hendrix concert. And yes it has a lot of hippie oriented nonsense in it. Still its a good window into times gone by. I remember seeing this in the theatre when it was released and thinking WOW what a great movie... I bought it recently and I still look at it fondly. Its worth the cost just for Hendrix's ROUSING Dolly Dagger.
A fun "BLAST FROM THE PAST".
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Not worth the wait...
Ok, I lined George's pocketbook again, and I am not proud of it. You would think with the budget of a third world nation he could make a better movie than this. I read the reviews and decided hey this might be worth a watch, my only conclusion is that somehow I watched a different version of this than anyone giving it a positive review. The acting was mostly wooden, going through the motions without depth or feeling. (Natalie Portman was an exception to this)People actually walked out on this movie in the theatre I was in, and I cannot say that I blamed them. After two hours of dull moviemaking, we were given a huge smash up ending with lots of dazzle, this must be what people are refering to when the say they really liked it. They must not be remembering the two hours previous of dull dull dull. Better luck next time George...(hint: HIRE SOME SCRIPT WRITERS WITH A SMALL BIT OF THE MONEY!!!)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)
I had no idea the future would be here so soon...
First of all I don't have a clue as to what Final Fantasy is and have never played the game. Second I would never have gone to this movie without the prodding of my children. OK you have the parameters to which I saw this movie. To say I was totally blown away would be an understatement, this movie does to computer generated movies, what Star Wars did to Sci-Fi movies 25 years ago. I want to say this film (Is that even a correct term anymore?) is as lush, alive and vibrant as any film I have ever seen. Stop what you are doing, put away all your prejudices and go see this!

Evolution (2001)
I have seen worse movies (but not this year and maybe not in a few years)
OK, I wanted this to be good, I wanted it to be enjoyable, I was wanting another Men in Black or GhostBusters. Instead I got an unfunny Alien Ishtar. (OK, maybe not that bad) I have to admit I cracked a smile once or twice, but left feeling robbed. This is not a good or funny movie. When the special effects outperform the (ahem) actors you know this is a FLOP. Wait for video and rent it with something you really want to see. It is really REALLY bad. (We gave up the X-Files for crap like this!) shame shame... Next time please just throw the money away and don't make anymore movies like this.
1/2 Star of Five
Surf II (1983)
A must see film, one of the few that captured the momentum of the 80's
I remember going into a little cinema in Texas to see this film, I wasn't expecting much... What I saw was a dead-on parody of life in the 80's. This is one of the great films of the 80's. There is a great tribute to this film in The Simpsons if you notice Homer always drinks Buzz Cola at the nuclear plant. Surf II has a strange intensity that is lacking in most films of today, too bad its not available on video or DVD. I highly recommend you track this one down, it will be well worth it.
