Thirteen Days (2000)
Wow
My hand's still shaking a little and my heart pounding, an hour after I've left the theater.
I got to confess, I do not remember the events of "Thirteen Days", a good reason would be because I was born seventeen years later and don't live in the vicinity of North America.
But do not let it deter you, those of you young enough to have only lived through it during history classes...this is a highly recommended movie for anyone who enjoys a great political thriller. It was amazing how it kept me on the edge of my seat even as I knew full well what was to eventually happen.
9/10.
Frequency (2000)
What If?
Who hasn't thought about going back in time to change something in their past?
This movie hit home with me. And as often as I've said it, I'll say it again - If it can't happen in real life, I'm glad it can at least happen in the movies.
Don't think too hard when watching Frequency. Just let yourself enjoy it!
An 8 out of 10.
Love Letters (1999)
Give this one a shot; you won't be sorry
That's the problem with cable tv, too many choices at one time and not enough television sets and eyes to go around.
I chose to watch Love Letters and I'm glad I did. Into the first couple of minutes when the characters began to talk to the camera I got a little scared because these type of shows tend to bore me after a bit. But I stuck it out and I was rewarded.
I last saw Steven Weber in a Hallmark production about the Gulf War but I remember him most as Brian on the sitcom Wings. I've always had problems placing him as a dramatic actor but now I have little doubt he can pull it off.
Laura Linney touched my heart with her portrayal of a woman scared to be in love.
Having gone back on the video and realizing that it was originally set on the stage, I'm so interested in seeing what that was like.
I give this movie a 7/10.
X-Men (2000)
This from a new fan...
I've never read a single X-Men book/comic or watched a single X-Men cartoon. I thought I'd take a shot at watching this much-publicized movie and was pleasantly surprised. I never understood my friends' obsession with X-Men before but I'm now inclined to start finding out more. The only problem I had with the movie was that it was too short.
Bryan Singer was right not to introduce too many characters at once since it obviously worked for newbies such as myself. If you know nothing about X-Men, don't worry, you'll enjoy the movie all the same.
