The Stepford Wives (2004)
Not worth it
I was sorely disappointed by this remake, as I am of many of them. To try and create this as something it's not and never was meant to be was a HUGE FLOP. It would have been better off if they left it alone and kept the original ending and intent.
The thing that saves it at all, as others have commented I am certain, is the character portrayed by Bette Midler and the homosexual couple. Other than that, a total waste of Hollywood dollars. I want to rent the original now to get the bad taste out of my mouth! What a waste of Walken, Close, and Midler not to mention lovely sets and an original idea that could have been an interesting remake. Happy, sticky, backward ending ruins the whole thing.
Memento (2000)
Amazed and intrigued by this backward tale
This movie was one of the best I have seen in a long time. I LOVED the creativity that the plot demonstrated; that alone is enough to make you adore this film. The switching from black and white to color also is really effective to help distinguish scenes, since his life(protagonist) is so messed up and confusing that the movie can be confusing as well, if you aren't paying close attention.
For me, this was a great and absorbing movie that is fresh and has so many intricacies it's hard to keep count. It totally deserves the rating of #9 in the top 250!
Turk 182 (1985)
WOW....one of my faves
Timothy Hutton is great in this flick as a young guy who uses his talents to avenge a problem in his family. When no one listens, he, by any means necessary, does something about it!!! I think it is a fun older movie that I always enjoy.
Mr. Sardonicus (1961)
Okay when I was young I saw this movie
And it scared the hell out of me.
The face is just too smiley for even the cheeriest of folks.
I was scared out of my wits by this black and white movie...most adults would probably find funny. So, decide for yourself.
Sooner or Later (1979)
Just Had to Laugh out loud when I saw that this movie
had 56% of voters saying it was a 10!!! I did too!! It's because of what it was about and when we saw it, I'm guessing!
Rex Smith's young self is enough to make you wanna see this one.
Carrie (1976)
Carrie never Quits
Here it is over 20 years later, and the first DVD I bought after Meet Joe Black was this one.
All for the opportunity to see John Travolta as a dumbo teen, and the scene at the prom when Carrie and Tommy are chosen Queen and King, everything goes slo-mo, and the music is just timeless! What a film job!
Of course, Carrie has it's jolting moments, but all in all, you can't help but feel sorry for her!
What a flick.
Meet Joe Black (1998)
The Most Romantic Movie in Recent Years
This movie surprised and impressed me. The acting and music was paramount! I love this film, its premise, its stars and the scenery and songs. Pitt was never my favorite but he does an outstanding job as Death. Claire Forlani is just stunning and Sir Anthony Hopkins is awesome as a man in the September of his years.....Truly for the romantic at heart, Meet Joe Black cannot be missed.
