Grerat job for the budget : }
1 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Decent low budget horror film. Cool sets, nice camera work and excellent lighting. Good acting from unknowns. Cool FX. I loved the monster suit. This is a slow burn that most watchers are not getting. It's a metaphor for how evil grows and consumes. What many people do not know is that in WWI fighters during downtime and ceasefires would sometimes fraternize with the enemy and learn that they are not that much different, and then when the Generals return to their posts, they would be angry for the friendships being made. I am a fan of isolation type films and this did a pretty good job. If you are a fan of well built Haunted Attractions like am, this has great sets and atmosphere. It's a bit underrated..

Underrated Re-Boot
10 December 2021
I am a horror fan of 40 years and loved and playing the RE games since 1996 when the original came out. This is a very creepy and closer to the game than the Anderson films. The editing, camera work and vibes are reminiscent of John Carpenter films. I love the slower pacing in this. Some of the dialog is weak {many great moments that could have had way better lines} but the sets and lighting are creepy, some look exactly like the game such as the RPD building. Characters such a Loan Kennedy, Ada Wong and the Birken family do not show up until the 2nd game. Lisa Trevor shows up in the 4th game. Drug companies are definitely scarier than ever and the greed in real life is so very real. In my opinion, this is a sleeper creeper. Perhaps it will pick up a bigger fan base as times goes on. I look forward to a sequel to this re-booted series. The Anderson/Mila films are decent and fun to watch but this is way closer to the first game 100%. I will buy the 4K when it hits-

Best Video game to Film adaption

The GOOD: Cano's dialog wins.

Opening scene is a flawless victory.

Great fights Cool sets Good stunt work Good to see Nathan Jones again but his scenes are fast and they never show him in side by side shots like when he fights Jax.

Goro's design is cooler looking than 90's movie Goro but he did not need to die.

Gore and foul language : ] Miles better than the two 90's films.

I'm "Game" for a pt. 2

The BAD: Yes, Cole was not needed in this film at all.

Jax could still be played by Michael Jai White.

Sonya Blade......meh. Her character should be ripped like Sarah Connor.

Yeah some cheesy scripting but then again it's a game.

The end track based on the cheesy 90's techno song was still cheesy 90's sounding with a drop of Dubstep at the end. Dubstep is about 5 years too late.

You shroud never see Raiden's eyes or see his mouth move when he talks. His voice should come from the sky like a God with a cool effect.

Overall a very well done for a first time Director. An enjoyable Pop Corn film.

I spent hundreds of quarters on the arcade versions 1,2,3,4. I was a freak about it in the 90s.

Notable video games to films = Monster Hunter and the first 4 Resident Evil films.

Underrated Rendition
9 February 2020
Beautifully shot, great sets, eerie lighting, cool costumes and a creepy electronic score by ROB. This is a very cool rendition. My only cons are the aspect ration of 1.55, it would look much better in 2:35 and some of the dialog is modern sounding. Other than that this is a sleeper. Sophia Lillis rocks it, Alice Krige rocks it and Director Perkins {Anthony's son} rocks it. Dreamy and intelligent style similar to Argento. One of the coolest PG13 horror films. I wanna see what happens next : }

I like the Dark :]
17 June 2019
As of this writing, X-Men 7 Dark Phoenix is @6.1 This film is the darkest X-Men yet and I enjoyed it very much. I am also a horror fan= loved Brightburn. We already know at this point the portrayals of Fassbender, Lawrence and McAvoy. So we did not need them to be built up, the focus here is Jean. Turner does a great job and is uniquely beautiful. The fight scenes are very creative. I'd have liked a bit more of a "Holy crap look at these new aliens" feel like Tarantino's From Dusk til Dawn aspect. However Phoenix is underrated. In fact the film does feel fast, it could have been a 2 film saga as I kinda want more of it.

Metaphore like Carpenter's They Live!
18 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This film is NOT about aliens, it's about what is actually happening in the world. Aliens=aka Pentagon/USA invade countries and take their resources and get the peoples to fight among themselves. This film is about ICE, brainwashing, Pharmaceuticals, Exxon.... the Elites in control. If you understand Carpenters They Live, you will love this great "Sci-Fi" epic of exposing truths under the guise of fantasy. This film shows various backgrounds of people that normally would not connect "African American kid walks into a Skin head radio station} but team up "We the people" and fight back against the establishment. Excellent film! Cool John Carpenter-ish soundtrack. Destined to be a cult classic : ]

SAW meets CSI
5 November 2017
Fun to watch but it's definitely like watching decent quality produced TV shows like CSI with a tiny bit of intelligence, just enough to make Layman feel like they're smart. Enjoyable but not a masterpiece. Much better than part 7 which was just awful.

It was cool to see Scully back at what she does best...

Awesome film
24 December 2016
Loved it. Jessica is very believable as uptight and smart, her lines are delivered with sharp intensity and she is just darn right sexy.

Beautiful sets and cinematography. Cool wardrobes. Excellent whistle blowing. Any film that exposes truths about how massive greed and corruption are is a needed film to see.

The hidden message is NOT about gun control, it's about corruption and how deep it goes.

Seeing an educated, powerful women with needs also shows realism.

The score is also nice.

This is a great film and is very underrated!

Almost flawless, my dream edits
17 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent in all areas of film making. Sets, Acting, FX, Score, Story, stunts.

My personally selected edits would be:

The first 2 shots of Vader are cut, that way the first time you see him is in the dark hallway and the Red Sabre activates. Then after he fights his was through the first 2 hallway sections getting to a 3rd section Chirrut Îmwe is standing there still waiting to fight Vader slowing him down to give Organa extra time to get the info into R2. Although Chirrut Îmwe is killed by Vader he puts up an awesome fight and his death would be 10x more powerful to see.

Yen vs Vader.... fans would be in awe.

It's a shame that true horror fans and artists have to suffer. This film is making lots of money from people who don't actually understand what a good movies is, therefor Hollywood will continue to make junk.

Things that i did NOT like- #1. All actors sucked except Yoo and Mears.

#2. The kills were ultra boring.

#3.

Why does everyone shop at Abricombe & Fitch? #4. The camera shake deal has been done and done. Enuff of it already. It's obvious that directors use this to cover up the fact that they can't actually film a fight or action scene.

#5. All the things I don't like about the first 10 Fridays are used in this re-make. However anything that I love about the first 10 films are not used at all.

#6. Enuff with models that cannot act but are used to show off boobs. Some of us Horror fans are smart. Please don't try to divert my attention from the good stuff that is actually missing from the film.

#7. The strongest person in the film is a 90lbs. girl that has been chained in an old mine shaft for 6 weeks without proper food or drink although is able to effortlessly ram a 4inch wide machete through the chest plate of a 250lbs. Voorhees.

#8.

Does everyone in the world smoke pot? And if you do is it really the most important thing in your life? #9. Dialog......it's important.

#10. Did anyone like the garage with all those wonderful tools that Jason did not use except for an axe "that Jason had to stop and pull out of wood" and throws it at the fastest runner in the film and catches up with him? And to top that off he's 15ft. from the house and yet no one in the house can see him...

#11. No offense to Mears, he is an excellent stuntman but Nispel did not let you show enuff of the rough stuff. The fights were soft and super short.

12. Although the sound quality is very good in this film, is it really necessary to have that cliché' dark ages sword sound all 5 times that he pulls it out of a leather sheath? Again this is the type of thing that is used to help dumb people get a sense of horror. Another fave is when horror films use creepy music......before the scare! This is also used on TV shows with laugh tracks. It's to let the mindless audience sitting at home that it is now OK to laugh because a joke just happened.

#13. The Jerk. Does anyone know of a bigger jerk? This dude played the part as if it were a SNL skit. Super lame.

I did find one thing that I did like about this remake. The sets. The sets are very cool and looked real. I guess thats the one nice thing Bay did for this film. A big budget.

I sometimes wish I was as dumb as most Americans. You know, the ones that think we are at war to fight the "Terrorists" and we are not actually over there for oil. This way I could enjoy horror films these days. Or so that I could laugh at stupid lines like "thats one fierce pussy". 80% of the guys in the theater laughed at that. Ummmm i said things like that when i was 13. No pun intended.

Needs work
19 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I'll start out with my biggest complaint first. Camera shake. I have taken my cheap 400$ cam on rollercoasters "no joke" and they look smoother than this. Not only has this tactic been used many times, in Qaurintine the camera is a shoulder held HD with Super steady shot and a supposed pro TV cameraman. The shake is so intense that you can't see a damn thing and you will get sick. My girl had to leave for 10 min because she got a headache. Enuff with the so called "realistic shooting". It is totally overdone and ruins the ENTIRE film. I think i may have seen some awesome make up fx in there but i'm not sure. How am i to get scared when i can't see what the F is going on. Zoom in zoom out, zoom in zoom out..... what Pro TV Cameraman does that? Complain #2. If caveman made fire...can't we now? Duh. Complaint #3. When in the various rooms, why not look for a weapon? Anything. Pick up a telephone and hit one over the head. Give me a stapler. I'll staple their eyes and mouth shut if i have to. Complaint #4. When using the night shot at the end, why keep the camera on Jenny Carpenter and not the amazingly creepy old rabid freak? Ummmmmm i'd want to know where that dude is every second. I guess not being a layman makes it just too hard for me to watch new horror films. Sorry folks i could not enjoy the film because i was way too angry. Maybe if the writers and Director spent more time on what humans would actually do in a situation like this and less effort on how to make the camera shake as much as possible they would have had a really cool film. Things i did like- the casting and idea. I also like that there is no stupid rock music to help "pump it up". With a re-edit, i'd love this film. Maybe an un-cut DVD with a sharp picture will make me happy:]
