I liked the story line, effects were decent, but not gory without purpose. It was an enjoyable diversion for a bit.

Rodeo Girl: Dream Champion
(2016)
Enjoyable
13 January 2019
Although others have pointed out the improbabilities of the film, they aren't any worse than other films like Days of Thunder, etc....
With that said, the storyline was enjoyable, and the entire film was a great diversion. It's worth watching!

Very interesting little film
13 January 2019
I'm sure this Is not your desired reaction, but my Golden Retriever, Bentley is fascinated by this film.
He just stands there with his ears tilted and watches almost the entire film. He loves it when the Golden Retriever barks, but he also is fascinated when the robot bleeps and beeps and makes noises.

Bucket of Blood: a cult classic!
2 April 2018
A pure classic!
Quirky, terrifyingly delicious.
It speaks to the mind and heart in the "Twilight Zone" / "Night Gallery" sort of way, with a good mix of Alfred Hitchcock.
The brilliance shines through with every viewing of this movie.

SpaceCamp

Decent film
11 August 2006
Space Camp is a pretty decent film. The plot is predictable, but the actors do a good job, and the special effects are decent for the time.
This film was originally released about the time of the shuttle disaster, and that really put a hamper on how popular it was.
The scene where the shuttle doors open in space is simply spectacular... on the big screen, that is... on a TV... it just looks average. I remember this scene in the theater. It made you feel like you were really up there.
This would be a good film to see on IMAX, but I'm sure that will never happen.

Somewhere in Time
(1980)
A Great Romance film.
17 May 2004
`Somewhere In Time' is a wonderful romance film with a great story line and a wonderful cast. It's a romance film that crosses the barriers of time.
I really don't think many people can identify with this film unless they have experienced this to a degree themselves.
Not too long ago we purchased a box of old sheet music from 1903 to 1930. On the cover of one of the sheets from 1912 was a photo of one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. If I could only find out who she was. Unless you've been through something like that, you may never get this film.

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins
(2004 Video)
A Must See
13 January 2004
Being a Tremors fan, I was already familiar with the franchise. I basically knew it all. How could they put out another Tremors film that would be any different than the same theme?
Well they did. It's an excellent film with a great story line.
Like I said, I'm a Tremors fan. I know the drill. I know what can happen. But even with all of my prior knowledge, this film still had me at the edge of my seat.
I has to be a decent film to keep you at the edge of your seat when you already know what is going to happen next.
This is a must see. It stands alone, and does not require the other films to make any sense. This would have done very well as a theatrical release.

Great Film
24 December 2003
I loved this film.
I had no clue there was a book before, but I loved the film. One of the better done time travel films because all the loose ends are taken care of. There no "Quantum loops" left to boggle your mind.
I think it all makes sense and the events appear natural for the era. Sure the events of the film were disappointing, but they really did make sense.
Well done, well thought out film.

Rugrats Go Wild
(2003)
Not just for kids.
16 June 2003
As usual I piled all the kids in the car to see this film, and as with all the Rugrats movies, I'm glad I have kids to take along to see it. I would probably look pretty stupid going by myself.
With that said, this film filled the bill as far as classic Rugrats `epic' adventures. Very good film, with incredible background scenery and animation. As with all Rugrats films, it was laced with `adult' humor that's extremely funny and flies over the heads of the little ones.
My favorites were the references to `Titanic', and the `Poseidon Adventure'.
A must see for all.

Starcrossed
(1985 TV Movie)
Dull and interesting at the same time.
16 June 2003
As stated before, the film has some decent elements, but just does not quite make it.
It has a decent plot, but the film really drags through most of the film. The actors did a decent job, as far as what they had to work with. James Spader was very believable.
Although a dull film, it still held my attention to the entire end.

Hilariously funny film
8 April 2003
I did not get around to seeing this film in the theater. To tell you the truth, it never crossed my mind to rent it, but an acquaintance of mine worked with the Baja Men on the opening score, so I wanted to check out his work.
This film is hilariously funny. I have never watched his Discovery Channel shows before, but I plan to now.
The kids and I were just rolling on the floor watching this film. It is exciting, suspenseful, extremely funny, and even a little scary at times when Steve is working with some of the animals.
The thing that really gets me is his narration. Even when he is being attacked, or chased, he is narrating what is happening to the audience.
This is a definite must see. Possibly a must buy on DVD.

Tremors
(2003)
A GREAT Series for the Tremors Fan.
31 March 2003
Just a great series that is as much fun as the movie series.
For the avid Tremors fan, this series is a dream come true. Sure, the Graboids are what the films are about, but the real draw to the films is the characters. They do an excellent job of intertwining characters and plot lines from the films into the series. Past story lines are are strongly connected between the movies and the series, and all the "pieces fit together".
The series continues the story line of what happens next to the characters, and their lives. Not necessarily all Graboids, but life with a Graboid alway there.
You are drawn into the series, making you feel you are a character in the series, fully aware of the Graboid "routine".
If you haven't seen the films, go out and rent all three of them (and I mean all three). I doubt you can really appreciate the series unless you understand the past history of the characters of Perfection Valley. They throw in so many references from the films, that a lot of the dialog might seem like an inside joke with you on the outside.
Maybe they were not the best films. Maybe it is not the best series, but you have to love Michael Gross as Burt Gummer. Go Burt!

If your a musician your going to love this film.
30 December 2002
If your a musician your going to love this film.
Why? Because musically they have perfected every detail.
Every instrument, except the one string slide guitar are top of the line instruments a true musician would love to play.
Some I could pick out are as follows: Fender Stratocaster, Fender Precision Bass, Gibson J-200, and a resonator guitar, just to name a few.
And the stage sound setup is perfect with three wedge stage monitors in the front, not to mention an all star cameo line up.

A Walk to Remember
(2002)
A very moving film
4 March 2002
If you do not have a heart then you will not like this movie.
I went to see it with my wife and my 14-year-old daughter and I found myself, a 44-year-old man watching the film with tears streaming down my face. Simply a superb film.
I found the characters to be different and interesting, not following the similar `pop star in a movie' profile. The Jamie Sullivan character played by Mandy Moore was an expansive, complex character that typically can't be played by such a young person, but she nailed the character perfectly, playing her with such depth and feeling that I don't think it could have been done any better by anyone else.
Shane West also did a wonderful job playing Landon Carter. I though he played this character perfectly. His emotions, his inner struggle with his desire to be with Jamie or to continue to be `cool', his anger, and non-caring attitude. He used all of these emotions to paint this character flawlessly.
Peter Coyote also played the part of Reverend Sullivan, Jamie's father to a T. He perfectly portrayed the Christian father with the inner struggle of seeing his daughter grow up and having to let go, also because of her illness, wanting to protect her.
This movie is a `must see', but bring a box of Tissues.

A cute story when you look at it through the eyes of time.
9 January 2002
I have always loved Herman's Hermits, and I really liked this movie. I don't suppose that I would have liked it when it first came out because it would have been bunched in with all of the other `rock' musicals of it's time, trying to compete for the `young' in-crowd. Nevertheless, as I look at it now, I see it as a charming film from another era.
The plot itself is very interesting and different. It is not your typical `garage band goes to the big city and gets discovered' type of film. They are looking for fame and fortune by way of the champion Greyhound, Mrs. Brown. The rock band thing was just a side interest in this film, much different from other rock musicals of its time. Other `rock' star films of that era were used merely as a publicity showcase for the band to play their music. This film actually had a decent story with some music in it.
The cinematography was fabulous in this film. If for anything at all, you should watch it for this aspect alone. I enjoyed the whole film, but the ending was a bit vague. I was able to figure it out after a while, but it jumped from scene to scene without smooth transitions of ideas.

The Apple
(1980)
The Apple, an embarrassing film you grow to love.
14 December 2001
I had heard a lot about this film from friends (on the Catherine Mary Stewart Fan Club list). They told me about the metaphors, and the jest of the film. They also told me it was a terrible film, but for some unknown reason they were all drawn to it.
I had to work up the nerve for about a month before I could get myself to watch it. As I watched the film for the first time, I could not believe my eyes. Everything they said about the film was true. I could not watch the film straight through. I had to stop it repeatedly and do something else because it embarrassed me so much just watching it (by myself no less).
About a week after watching it, I did indeed feel drawn to watch the film again. Now, months later, I have grown to love it for some warped reason unknown to me.
Don't forget to wear your BIM mark!

Pearl Harbor
(2001)
Pearl Harbor, The Best of the Best
6 September 2001
Pearl Harbor, in my opinion, is one of the best movies I have seen. I have read may of the reviews by other members, and the derogatory comments they have made about the film, and yes, from their point of view, they are correct.
What you have to understand before you can really appreciate a film like this is that although part of the plot is fiction, the rest is not. This means that the creators have to make the film fit into the framework of established historical fact. Not only the historic lines, but also the culture, the attitude of people in general, and the overall norms of that time.
With this premise out of the way, I found the film to be very entertaining, romantic, and extremely authentic as far as props, attitudes, and historic content. It was a well spent three hours that I would do again.
For me, it really answered many questions I had about the WWII era that in my personal research, I could not answer. In addition, being a hopeless romantic, I really loved the story, which was authentic for that time, as to how people acted.

The Man from Snowy River
(1982)
One of the best films ever.
17 February 2001
Superb film, excellent cast and a well done script. What more can you ask for.
Tom Burlinson and Sigrid Thornton do an excellent job, with riveting action scenes you will not find in any other movie. Sigrid Thornton is a wonderful actress and one of the most beautiful women in the world.
No wonder she was voted as having Australia's most beautiful face and eyes.

How to Marry a Billionaire: A Christmas Tale
(2000 TV Movie)
Cute but slow paced. Predictable.
21 December 2000
Cute but it was slow paced. I did enjoy it but my tastes are much different from your average movie critic. I like these cute, sappy movies myself. I almost turned it off because of the slow pace but I made it to the end.
