Zonbi asu (2011)
I don't get the low rating
What did anyone expect with this title and director? I get it if you knew what you were getting into and still didn't think it was funny. But some of the reviews saying gross, disgusting, blah blah. Well yeah that is the point.
I was with a bunch of friends scanning Netflix and they quickly passed it by and I yelled STOP! We must watch this just based off the title alone and it didn't disappoint. There was ass, zombies, toilets, dead people. Everything they promised in the title was there in abundance and it was good.
I never laughed so hard at something so ridiculous. It did have some boring spots I give you that, but overall it was hysterical just based on the premise of a girl who couldn't fart because she was ashamed of it. Shakespeare couldn't have come up with a better plot.
If you are with a bunch of friends looking for something crazy, stupid and funny and have had a few beers, definitely watch this.
V for Vendetta (2005)
V for Viciously Awful
V for Very Bad V for Visiually Unappealing V for Very Long And Drawn Out V for Vomit Inducing V for Virtually Unwatchable V for Viewless V for Violently Mad V for Vacate The Theatre
This movie was so bad it angered me. It started quite well, but once the first action scene passed, the movie turned into a I hate Republicans fest (not directly but it was pretty obvious) for 1:15 minutes, then a quick dose of action, then the movie ended.
All the acting was well done except for John Hurt, he was just painful to watch and listen to. Natalie Portman looked as beautiful as ever. It's such a shame as this movie had tremendous promise but the writers let their political views get in the way of what could have been a great movie.
If you don't feel like being indoctrinated or listening to propaganda avoid this film.
Bad News Bears (2005)
Usually Baseball is like Pizza, even when it's bad it's good...Not in this case
This movie had no story, no characters and no point, other than the continuing problems of Hollywood and why they can't seem to make money. Because they fail to do anything original and try to milk old movies for as much money as they can because the cost is low. Glad I didn't spend one dime on this film, other than waste my time.
All this film does is loosely follow the original plot, except they try to be more vulgar and crass in the process. Spitting out one liners may be good for stand-up comedians but not a 2 hour movie.
I could not feel anything for any of the characters. All the actors just seemed to read their lines with no feeling at all. Billy Bob wasn't too bad, I mean he was the best of the bunch. Greg Kinnear was just too over the top and not nearly mean enough as his character is supposed to be. He was more of a putz than someone to be taken seriously.
SLIGHT SPOILER This movie was just a slap in the face of the original. I can't believe we are supposed to believe it was so horrible of the coach to flip the hat of his son and then tap him to the ground that his son would throw the game and his mother be so upset (as fake as her performance was). Got to love political correctness. In case you didn't know, in the original the coach slaps his kid in the face, hard. In front of everybody. It was clearly wrong and portrayed that way, but even that is politically incorrect nowadays to portray in a film. I may have to check out the original film on DVD to make sure they didn't pull a Lucas and edit the slap out.
You can give extremely young teenagers non-alcoholic beer so they acquire a taste and grow up to be alcoholics, but you can't hit your kid, even when the hitting is to be demonstrated as wrong. Unbelievable.
Avoid this film and watch the original.
Sin City (2005)
I guess you need to know the comic?
I thought this movie was just absolutely horrible. I felt like I was watching a video game cut-scene movie. The movie revolved around a couple of different stories that intertwined with each other in a limited way but were not played in order. Now normally you would think that by the end you would have made sense of it all. I'm sorry there was no sense to make. There was no point to these stories or the whole movie in general and I want my 2 hours back.
While the acting wasn't awful and they do their best and it's a great cast, you can't make something that started out bad, good.
Completely awful avoid at all costs if you like your entertainment to have at least a small smidgen of meaning.
Zorro: The Gay Blade (1981)
A classic that ranks with Blazing Saddles and the Pink Panther
This was hysterical. I only just saw it for the first time the other day. I never heard of it until a friend of mine spoke about it. It's slapstick comedy at it's best. You can't find comedies like this anymore. I think the name says it all about it's humorous nature. Picture Zorro shouting one-liners and then picture him being gay. It's worth the $1.99 it costs to rent it at Blockbuster. It goes all out with stereotypes as well. The crowd listening to Esteban speaking to them, all wearing sombreros. Esteban saying he is a man of the "Peeples". It's great for a Sunday afternoon viewing.
