AWFUL!! F -
1 November 2003
WOW. I can't believe this film was actually made. BORING, horrendous, beyond bizarre and stupid. It's offensive just because it's so bad, the acting is terrible, the plot very lame. It's a propaganda film against Christianity basically, shame on the people who made this, they wouldn't want the tables turned. Seeing how Hollywood is, I doubt the tables could be turned as a film like that wouldn't get produced these days. Very sickening, not just because of it's clear bias, but because it is such a really terrible film. PROPAGANDA, they will say its satire or for fun, but it's really as if Goebbels were writing in Hollywood against Christianity today.

Hysterical
13 October 2003
I have read some unfavorable reviews of this film and I have to say that these have puzzled me.

If true, this is one of the funniest practical jokes of all time. The bizarre nature of Perry, the lead, and his crew, as well as the subtle nuances made this an excellent flick.

With charachters named Roman Polanski, Hiroshima Nagasaki, and this joker Perry buying it all was too much.

Some people have commented that this film might not be true and even Perry's lines were scripted. I actually think it is real judging from the guy and the fact that I have met some people sort of like Perry before.

Enjoy it, it's a fun one.

Simply Brilliant! Penn and Oldman are terrific
12 November 2000
Having grown up New York Irish I can completely empathize with the characters and their lifestyles. A truly first class job by Director Phil Joanua and leading men Sean Penn as Terry Noonan and Gary Oldman as Jackie Flannery. Robin wright (Penn) is excellent as Cathleen Flannery and Ed Harris is great as the elder Flannery. One of my favorite movies of all time- a masterpiece.

Lazy "Dogma" Film making
31 October 2000
Warning: Spoilers
Von Trier's film is simply awful. It is supposedly a coda against the death penalty but exposes the fallacy of the "Dogma" style as it breaks several rules of this limited style that, if successful, shall destroy quality pictures as we have grown accustomed to since Thomas Edison shot "The Sneeze". SPOILER ALERT This film is beyond awful - one part spike Jonze video "so quiet" and one part Mentos commercial - it is no wonder Bjork said she will never film another movie again. Bjork was competent in the role but you feel like cheering when she hangs. Yes, it is that bad. Abysmal failure. A testimony to the warped vision of directors who didn't have the will to film properly so they invented this joke "Dogma".
