Wax, or the Discovery of Television Among the Bees (1991)
classical
This movie is so clearly a christmas classic that i can barely contain myself! Please, make this movie a part of your family's traditional holidayic behavior. Watch it while you wrap the presents, and for a truly quixotic effect, watch it backwards when you unwrap them.
I think that this movie has also taught my "dog" how to talk. I have showed him this movie (privately) over fourteen hundred thousand times and now he can speak. Of course, he doesn't vocalize his speech: he transmits it through the air-but i think that this is still somehow remarkable (I think).
He is telling me to write this: -------- I am so hungry please feed me. Please. I am starving. I need to eat. I am so skinny I that can barely move. Don't hit me anymore. It only hurts and makes me sleepy enough to fall into some reverie. --------
Well, better go feed the pup! (10 out of 10 stars.)
Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000)
Like a twisted
For me (personally) this movie was a representation of a kooky
biblical prophesy gone terribly awry. It was as if cars (and vehicles
in general) were dramatic and cantakerous protrayls of life on the
highway. In modern America, cars are sybolic of demons and
unnatural destroyers of our mother earth! This movie served as
radical documentary about the evils of our quick-fix instant oatmeal
society. Nick Nolte did an bizarre and paranominal job as the
weirdo mathmatician who confuses a dump-truck for a time-machine. Can you imagine what insues next?
Critters (1986)
DONT READ THIS UNLESS U SAW critters ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!
When I saw critters for the first time, my life was completely
changed. Never before have I beared witness to such destructive
forces of nature.
This documentary is basically an emotional rollar-coaster. We
recommend it for those who are willing to watch a piece that the
main-stream press is (still) afraid to cover. It is chilling, especially
when I think of how frightened the camera man must've been as
he watched these hideous and demented creatures commit
disgusting acts of mayheam and debauchery. I (unlike the
corporate news-shows) commend him on this film.
Mainly this work reminded me of a similar "cinematic masterpiece"
called "The Crow". Both Eric and the critters (in general) have
made a profound impact at my life.
Last summer was a time of intense spiritual turmoil for me. But
with the help of these filmic marvels, I found numerous (and often
contradictory ) answers to many profound issues; not to mention
philosophical guidance. The things that at I learned are too
plentifull to list in this review. Suffice it to say that there are many,
many, many hidden numerical messages in this documentary.
Keep your eyes peeled.
Incidentally, watch for the scene with the eels. Can you believe it?
(I can)
Elizabeth (1998)
legalize it!!
I know some people like to listen to pink floyd and watch 2001 space odysessy...while in a similar way i recommend listening to Ravi Shankar while watching this movie.
I was inclined to do the following things during the duration of this film: 1. Weave a (unicorn!) tapestry 2. Play the sitar. 3. Dance dance dance
The Crow (1994)
Like last summer
First, this movie reminds me so much of the movie CRITTERS.
They have an almost identical plot line, and character line-up.
There are a lot of interesting hidden messages embedded in this classic love story.
I wonder if the crow may represent the first coming of the messiah. In other words, it is a lot like genesis. Also, for many reasons i think that the crow may represent the serpent and occasionally moses. plus, there are some parts that can be played backwards for hilarity. Believe me, i should know i saw this movie over 12,000 SEPERATE instances!! including last summer.
this is why i want to explain something. for me, last summer was a time of intense spiritual turmoil. for a while i was a wiccan, but thanks to this movie, my eyes were (figuratively/literally) opened. i saw for once and all that love conquers all, even those among us who were resurrected from the dead to avenge a crime or crimes.
Eric is a hero to all of us! He has a message to share with everyone...regardless of your age or race. This movie is a startling glimpse into the lovely and often comical side of contemporary urban life. I do have some ideas for improvement though: 1. it would have been better if it took place on an airplane 2. a bigger role for the background of the crow...where did it come from?
Falling Down (1993)
A xmas tale for all
This is a christmas movie that the entire family may enjoy! Not a cartoon, but a real life docu-drama about the zany mishaps in a kooky urban city.
Anywho, I like this movie for it's post-modern and often comical interpretation of life in our great country. I especially like the scene where a nervous construction worker scrambles to explain what is wrong with the street that the antagonist (or protaonist?) lives on. Also, his mother does a fantastic job of acting. She is completely amazing. Needless to say, violence issues. I don't want to ruin the ending, but lets just say, it is funky.
You should know that this may be inappropriate for the children-there are some swears and a significant amount of violence and some racist remarks. It should probably be rated R for violence and adult situations.
