Whiffs (1975)
It is dry excellent humor.
It is a satire and is not contaminated as one previous comment suggests. Senses of humor vary and this comedy is slightly dark with a universal message. The opening scene is unique and original. A scene regarding one of the controlled biologist agents "test" with Harry Guardino and Elliot Gould is very funny occurring while they try to carry on a conversion. It should be re-released in DVD format.
Thanks,
Mike

Il gattopardo (1963)
Rated as Burt's best, but unavailable, sad.
The historical touches of clothes and mannerisms, the calm Burt Lancaster delivery, the first movie for Claudia Cardinale, and the human truths exposed makes this one of my favorite. This period piece ranks up there with the Agony and the Ecstasy, Becket, and Doctor Zhavigo. And it is not available. That is too bad.
The Purple Plain (1954)
Wonderful human interaction and drama piece.
Peck's third best movie. The supporting actors did flesh out the tension and struggle. The story line can be easily followed. The decisions made during the movie are predictable, but the realization that it is life and death struggle overwhelms the predictability.
