Miracle Mile (1988)
I can't believe I missed this back in 1988
I can't believe I missed this back in 1988
Recently seen this on Pluto tv 3/2022
Dark ending, and ending title music, tangerine dream music, probably done on an Atari st.
And it shows most likely how the catastrophe unfolding would actually happen.
First nuke, explodes high above, sending a burst of electric energy, blowing out majority of devices with sensitive electronics, cars, phones, helicopters, etc.
Second blast is the killer.
I would have expected the first blast to come sooner so more ppl would have been stuck.
Older cars that did not have ECMs, may have still been running, but would have been stuck behind 90% of the cars that have ECM.
Would be best to have an off-road car to try to get away, but size of blast it would be today, don't think that would be possible either.
Whenever girlfriend's mom meets long lost true love, the two kids should have just went with them, and called it a dark happy ending, where they would have had a happier time in the last few moments.
Still would be fun to see again for what if chances there were along the way.
Moonshine County Express (1977)
Good enough to be in print
I have seen a John Saxon Film recently, was not MSCE (Moonshine County Express), but kept thinking about this film that I foundly remember from the 70s when I seen him recently. I came to IMDB to do a search to see if I could find the name of the film(found it here) to see about buying it on DVD, but to no avail, not even on VHS! That is awful :-( Couple fun things about the film, Three pretty sisters, One of them always using dynamite to blow up things, I think it was Maureen McCormick, and Claudia Jennnings being the brains of the three I think. John Saxon drives a muscle car, a cherry red Dodge Challenger, a real sweet car. A buddy of mine used to own one down the street from me at the time I seen this back in the late 70s. Hopefully, this gem will come out on DVD soon. If you like this film, you may also like "Duel", Steven Spielbergs first film.
Dead of Night (1974)
A good scary night time movie from the past
This is a great movie if you ever get a chance to see it. Hopefully, this will be out on DVD someday. Also, it would be great to hear Alan Ormsby's thoughts of the writing of this film as a secondary track on the DVD. CSPWDT (Children shouldn't play with dead things) is another great film under Alan Ormsby's belt that did come out on DVD (does not have any extras though except original trailer). He also had a bigger role CSPWDT. In Deathdream, he has a brief role as a witness to one of the murders by the character name "Andy". If you ever see it to buy or rent, it is worth watching.
Duel (1971)
A very good suspense film
This is one of those film that can never get old. Even though the two main vehicles are dated back to the time of the film in 1972(68 red/orange Plymouth Valiant, pre Dodge Dart, and a old Diesel metal bearing grinding Mack truck), it will keep anyones interest for a good time to come. This is not out on DVD yet, but if it would come out on DVD, I hope their will be a secondary track with Steven Spielberg talking about the film, plus extra footage and outtakes if their is any. I would buy this DVD if it would come out with the extra features mentioned. The summits of the San Fernando Valley scenes are great. This movie made me think of other films with the same location. There are about three films that come to mind that were filmed in the same place at different point in the pictures (Its a mad mad mad mad world, X-The man with the x-ray eyes, and The Car). Also, if you have ever seen the mid 70's series "The Incredible Hulk" With Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, on one of the series, you would have seen cuts from the film "Duel" as a different type of chase scene. The credits were also added at the end of that series. Duel, A great film. Check it out if you have not seen this yet.
The Great Race (1965)
This film deserves a DVD release and more!
Perhaps one of the most sought after films on DVD, this would have to be it. I enjoy watching this film, and I would purchase this on DVD if it was available. Extras on the DVD would be great as well. Original trailer, outtakes, possible extra footage if it exists. This would become a great selling DVD if released. If you have never seen the film, check it out! It has a lot of great characters, comedy, scenery, vintage automobiles, and more! This film easily rates a 10 or more.
Great Race fan
Fridays (1980)
A great early 80's Friday evening show!
This show was always great! I wish it could be brought back as repeats! There are a few skits that come to mind. Mark Blankfield playing a Pharmacist with unusual events happening to him, and his famous line "I can handle it". Or, Michael Richards playing the little boy burning little green plastic army men out on the lawn turned into a dirt pit, making a loud ruckus, and his Mom (played by Maryedith Burrell) having her moments with him. Or, Bruce Mahler dressing up a dancing chicken and playing the piano. Or, Darrow Igus playing the Jamican Man showing what he can do with fish and other items. And Melanie Chartoff, the cutest comedian ever! And the show also had great musical guests, Boomtown rats, J Giels Band, John Cougar, Plasmatics, B52s, ACDC, and many others. A great show. If you have been lucky enough to experience the show, I hope the above comments brought back some great memories. :-)
