Who Is Cletis Tout? (2001)
Plot hole?
*** Spoiler alert ***
The majority of the story is being revealed to Tim Allen's character by Christian Slater's character, by way of flashbacks ...
There is a crucial scene where we/Tim are surprised to discover that there is a crooked cop, who makes a phone call (alone, and from his office at HQ), disclosing Cletis Tout's current whereabouts to the mob ... Great, but how or when did Christian Slater realize the cop was crooked? Later in the movie, we see that Slater has no such information ...
This would/could only work if later in the film we were to discover how Slater came about this piece of information ...
Worth watching, though ...
Siu nin Wong Fei Hung chi: Tit ma lau (1993)
Perfect
Iron Monkey is the finest film i've seen in a long time. I enjoyed Crouching Tiger, but this one is even better. I hope that some of the people who typically look to "Pearl Harbor", "Armageddon" or "(enter any recent Arnold film here)" as the best examples of "action films" give this one a look. It was a thrill to watch, and is a credit to the genre.
Lost Highway (1997)
what a waste of film
I've rated probably one thousand movies or more here at imdb, but "lost highway" is the first one i give a 1/10 to. This movie, if you can call it a movie, sucks. Don't plan to watch it and be entertained...the color bars on your tv has a better plot. This film is just artsy-fartsy rubbish.
Dancer in the Dark (2000)
yak!
While I feel I have an open mind, and will give just about any film a chance, this one blows. I should have known better, since another stinker called "Breaking the Waves" was done by the same director, and it also blows for many of the same reasons...bad dialogue, hammy acting, blairwitch camerawork, a gloomy, depressing script, and an imbecile as the main character. I'm astounded at the accolades this movie gets, and the high voter rating it gets here. I assumed a film in the IMDB top 250 would have some redeeming value. Not in this case. This was painful to watch, and a huge disappointment.
The Lesser Evil (1998)
diamond in the rough
This is an excellent film, and was a very pleasant suprise, to say the least. I'm amazed, however, at the lack of online information for "The Lesser Evil". It's a shame it hasn't gotten much attention, because this is a very well done, totally gripping film, with a twist ending I never saw coming. If you like your movies suspenseful, thought-provoking, and unpredictable, check this one out...you won't be disappointed.
