Michael Collins (1996)
Moving and beautifully filmed, The Greatest Historical Film
This is film making at it's best. It wonderfully depicts the culture of Ireland and the mentality of it's people. The style of certain shots was wonderful, and the score was fitting. The best part of this film, and which makes it so moving is the character development, and how Jordan can get the viewer attached to the two wonderful characers Michael Collins and Harry of which were superbly acted. They way the two characters interacted made us love them and care deeply for them. Neil Jordan pulled the audience into the film and made us laugh and cry with the characters. The character of Brye also made the character feel his emotions. The movie also had very moving and well done action sequences, that depicted the atrocoties committed by the horrific British soldiers and government. The beginning sequence of the terrible loss at Easter Risingh of which were superbly acted. They way the two characters interacted made us love them and care deeply for them. Neil Jordan pulled the audience into the film and made us laugh and cry with the characters. The character of Brye also made the character feel his emotions. This film is definetly one of the top 5 of the Nineties and the top 20 of all time. It is a film of hope, of strength under horrible circumstances and a film about on of the greatest men of our time Michael Collins. 10 out of 10, if you liked this I would also reccoment, Braveheart, Gandhi, The Devil's Own, and The Shawshank Redemption (shawshank not for plot or theme, but for similar protagonist) this is a must see for any and every fan Film.
Summer of Sam (1999)
I hated, hated, hated this awful film
This is one of the worst films I've seen in the past Five years. It had little to do the David Burkwitz .45 killings, and was mainly focused on a group of druggie, womanizing lowlifes. I am a pretty big fan of Spike Lee, Malcom X was superb, Clockers was great, Do the Right thing was also great, and he's had a couple other films but this one was plain awful. This film should not be watched by Anyone. I still to this day wonder, what was he trying to do, focusing a story around the worst possible people of NYC, which would put them pretty high on the running of lowest form of life worldwide. It had little to no point. The character with the fake english accent was both gross, and annoying beyond measure. I warn yu, if you're thinking of seeing this film, DON'T! vote 1/10
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Simply the best film ever
This film was honestly able to make me laugh, and cry. It moved me from start to finish. I have seen several films in my lifetime, and I have given this film the distinct honor of my favorite, and the best film of all time. It shows the character development and friendship between inmates of several years. Everyone should see this film, because It is incredible. The scene where they are drinking beers never fails to make me cry or at least get teary-eyed.
L'arma (1978)
yet another intelectually devoid action film
This film achieved what it strived for to be just another action film, and it achieved it but, was just another action film. It had no meaning and just strung the viewer along through action sequences. It was a decent action movie, but a horrible movie. Even the title took no thought, which should be a testament to how much thought must've been put into it's character development and plot.

Titanic (1997)
Simple, predictable,and awful
Titanic is probably one of the worst films of the 90's. Cameron must've sold his soul to the devil for it to get an academy award. To be thought of as a better movie over than As Good As It Gets or Good Will Hunting. THIS WILL GIVE AWAY THE ENDING! One of the things I hated most about this film is the predictability. From the first time she met Jack, I knew he was going to Die. It was so easy to forsee. I also hate how much of a copy this was of almost every simple romance story, Girl about to marry snob, meets slightly poor, funny guy, falls in love, something prevents, then at end they are together. It was probably as simple as it gets. I also hate how farfetched the plot was. If Cameron had done ANY research prior to writing it, he would have realized how a romance like that would have NEVER happened. During 1910's American & England people married and dated within their economic class. I also hate this film because it was so shallow, unlike past Academy Award Best Picture Winners, Titanic had NO societal meaning, No symbolism, and No Metaphors. Usually after watching films bestowed with that honor, you feel changed, different, with Titanic I was just disappointed.
Lastly the acting was poor, at best, except for that of Billy Zane's, which was phenomenal. They picked actors singularly for looks rather than acting ability. Winslet showed little to no emotion, and Decaprio could never pull off any of the sad scenes. I truly hated this film, second to STRANGERS IN GOOD COMPANY, this is one of the worst films ever. No One should see this film.
