Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Romantic but disappointing
I thought this movie was cute. And it was well acted by the actor who played Mr.Darcy and Mr.Bingley's sister was very good at seeming extremely snobby. The tension between Mr. darcy and Elizabeth could have been a lot better. I haven't seen much of Kiera Knightleys work, but this movie showcased no talent for her. you didn't feel anything she was feeling with great depth. it was funny the way mr.bingley was so nervous and uncomfortable when trying to profess his love. I like the humor in the movie in the midst of the sadness. And did anyone notice that Mr.Darcy always wears the same bloody blue jacket? oh well.I'm glad i saw it though, however I would not buy it. It is not worth my money. I'd much rather buy a better and more intense love story. but then I'm into the whole pull your heartstrings kind of thing.
Also Elizabeth's sisters were quite excited which was close to the book. I didn't like Lydia, she was so...so superficial and cold hearted. Id give it 6 out of ten. if they made me cry a bit more maybe id give it a seven. but to give it a 8 or 9 I think they should have showed more of the plot between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. Created more of a emotional attachment for the viewer if you know what i mean.
Born Yesterday (1993)
love it---spoilers.. well sorta
I love Melanie Griffith in this movie. it takes a lot of skill to act ditzy. and ted danson does a good job aslo of making u hate him. Its about this woman las vegas show girl who has this rich boyfriend ugly dude who controls her and buys everything for her but theres no love. and she doesint know much street smarts, and he always makes her sign these papers. but she doesint know to read them. then he doesint want her to embarrass him at parties cuz she doesint know topics ppl talk about in la ti da places. so he hires this guy. but he teaches her more then ted danson wanted. and they fall in love. and she stands up for herself. I love the part where she burns the papers in the end. after he hits her for not signing the papers.hes so dumb he thinks he can win her with money,,, heck no buddy!!! the romance of the teacher and melanie is cute and watchable.
The Book of Ruth (2004)
A bit depressing, but very well acted and a bright glimmer in the end
This movie is defintley for tv, but it was acted superbly. The mom makes it easy for you to hate her. Nicholle who plays Ruth, i was surprised she took this role. I guess she wants to take on bigger movies and bigger roles, and producers can see her acting abilities. i remember seeing her only on "the nanny" and "beethoven". Well, its worth watching this movie...but i should warn u... can u say depressing. but something about it makes u stay watching. just like about every other tv movie iv'e watched. ok theyre telling me i need more then 10 lines so ill go on. Her husband is soo ugly and wierd why would she marry that hyena. her deluded mom makes her feel so worthless that she would even consider it. man he was crazy. and then the end just when u think things couldint get any worse they do. and its so true but sad how even though her mom treated her soo bad she still loved her and felt bad for --what happened-. although lol its probably obvious. Her kid is the only thing that keeps her going i think. i hate when guys take advantage of innocent girls its soo cliche. shiz at least if ur gonna be a man whore at least make it original so we wont die of boredom.
Como agua para chocolate (1992)
full of passion, and sensous fire ,, and food too
i read the book. so i had to see the movie and see if it was anything like i imagined it. the sadness of tita's life is very well brought to the screen. its definetly worth watching. but I think this is the kind of film that you see only once. otherwise its first affect ( that u feel long after) will start to leave you. by the way. for all you ladies out there. the main love interest . Pedro hes sooooooooo fine.,,
enjoy!
The Secret of My Succe$s (1987)
could be better
I thought this movie was ok, and I like those 80's movies. But am I the only one who thought it was gross that his aunt wanted to put him in the sack, thats just nasty. If it wasint for that part, I like the romance/ comedy bit. I'd give it a 5 or if theyre lucky 6 out of ten.
Phenomenon (1996)
A film that teaches us the meaning of life, and more.
I'm 15 years old and I watched it tonight on tv, and i loved it! It was so wonderful! John Travolta did a great job. He acted so well. I'd rather he not die in the end though, that part was sad. I don't believe in this sort of phenomenom of course, but i still loved the movie. I like the way it shows real kind of love in the movie between him and the the girl(i forgot her name). Most movies these days are just about crushes, and things that dont matter in life. I liked this movie because it shows what is real in humans not what society makes people think. I suggest this film to anyone, any age . thanks Steffany
