Schlafende Hunde (2023)
Okay at best.
Storyline was okay, but told a hundred times by now (main character with amnesia, bad dad looking for redemption,...). You will not be surprised at any point, because it is so cookie cutter written. Also I feel like they did what german productions do to all scripts: Add some LGBT+ representation and racism/nazi themes that do nothing for the plot just because. I doubt it was in there before and REALLY alienating to see some their social commentary ham-fisted in.
It might keeps you interested enough to stay for the final, but in the end you get a lukewarm showdown and an eye roll inducing resolution.
Some actors did a decent job, most not so much. You could have cut half without losing anything, so this might should have been a better B-movie.
I can not recommend the show to anyone but diehard fans of german television crime series like "Tatort". You get some nice shots of Berlin, tho.
That '90s Show (2023)
Basically SCRUBS - Season 9
Was really nice to see the old cast again, but the new kids sadly add nothing. They also feel too young cuz the original show run for so long you remember them as young adults. Makes it kinda more like a disney channel show, but with beer and drugs. Makes it hard to find a target audience.
The jokes don't really land, except when they reference the old show, and this is definitely not the 90s just cuz you drop some obvious references.
So it's "meh" at best, but if you love the old show you should at least give it a shot to see them all again in character. Probably will make you smile more than once. Besides that there is not much here you haven't seen elsewhere. Doesn't mean it's all bad, just not great.
Hot Forever (2022)
Okay'ish, but ...
First of all:
Nobody gives a fudge about the political views of a standup-comedian, so could you please stop already? That's not what people paid for. And if you wanna talk about miscarriages in your COMEDY special out of nowhere so badly AT LEAST give a trigger warning at the start of your show, instead of asking to normalize the topic on a side note afterwards.
About the comedy:
The over the top childish body language and voices are funny if you are in the mood, and some gags definitely landed, but overall it was not made for me (anymore). I got the tiktok part, but it was pretty stretched out. If you never used tiktok, you are probably left confused the first 20 minutes or so ...
Sadly can't recommend this, but she is still a pretty entertaining person to watch. Needs better writer/material and to scale back a bit on the hurtful reality bits. Comedy should be escapism.
