Christmas at Graceland (2018)
Snarky comments expecting an Oscar movie!
I think all the comments critiquing Kelly Pickler for her accent and expecting her to be Meryl Streep are just snarky. What a bunch of snobs who think Hallmark movies are supposed to be Sundance quality! Many Hallmark movies aren't full of stellar acting but if that's what your watching them for, change the channel! They are supposed to be feel good movies that have happy endings, especially at Christmas time. I am not an Elvis fan but watched because I loved being able to see the inside of Graceland again because it's so frozen in time in terms of decor. The only thing I didn't care for was Ms. Pickler's heavy make up. It was a pleasant enough way to pass 2 hours and think about Christmas!
Just Friends (2005)
Funniest movie EVER!
okay, funniest movie EVER and I don't understand why this movie is never mentioned when articles appear about Ryan Reynolds. My adult daughter and I could watch this movie every day and laugh to tears every time. Ryan Reynolds is just a wonderful comedian with dry humor that just adds to the character and his transformation from former fatty to buff rich guy is pointed out by the fact that he cleans up SO nice! Anna Faris plays the diva to the hilt, all the funnier because the character has no real talent. And Chris Klein as the former nerd turned gorgeous woman chasing paramedic? 'Nuff said, watch it! "Dusty, Hmmmm" The brother relationship is probably the funniest part of the movie although there are so many, it's hard to choose! Watch this movie, it will not disappoint you.
White Nights (1985)
Great dancing, weak plot
I don't know how it is that I've never seen this movie especially since my daughter was a tap dancer for 12 years and we were both such huge fans of Gregory Hines. The dancing is superb by both Mikhail and Gregory. The acting a little stiff especially by MB. Predictable but for me, the dancing and the music make the movie. The plot is ridiculous. It's too bad that Gregory Hines wasn't bigger during the 80's and 90's, it's a shame that dancing didn't make a comeback in films the way it should have. Loved the background music, loved the sole dance scene by Hines, loved the duet by both of them, HATED the opening sequence, everything I always hated about "modern" dance. Still worth seeing, if only for the dancing and the somewhat factual USSR defection problems. Seems so long ago now that artists and others actually had to "escape" a country. But the question still begs to be asked: If Raymond needed to leave the U.S. why in the H*** would he end up in freaking Siberia vs. all the other European countries he could have moved to??
