Mixed Feelings

Well acted, beautifully shot and interesting overall. Some found the characters unrealistic but I've watched enough criminal documentaries to know people exist as those characters presented themselves.

It's hard to watch at times and I stared at the screen as if I had a front row seat to a deadly car accident. We're meant to hate these people from start to finish and boy do I.

It's not complicated in the least. This is simply a story of how hate can become bigger than someone's humanity and if vile enough, can find justification to be the absolute worst version of oneself.

Whether the messaging bothers you or not, it's an artful presentation an ugly part of America that is growing in numbers. That's terrifying.

A wobbly start...but a start.

I'm so starved for black art that I'm willing to overlook a lot of this show's flaws. First of all, I think they've wrangled up a great cast. I was afraid it would be cringe, but the ladies come off seasoned, even though I only know two of them. Only I find I can feel their excitement, especially Shaniqua's (Angie) who is always on ten. A bit of nuance would help round out her character. Also, Jasmine's (Pat) horrible Jamaican accent also killed me. Lol!

The scenarios skew a bit young. They are in their 30s and I just think the conversations and the reaction to the situations they find themselves in could use a bit more depth.

Overall I find the pacing of the show fast. I think if it could breathe just a little, slow it down, tone down the humor, bring up the angst, dive more deeply into their lives rather than rely on sexual encounters and one-liners, it will be an infinitely better show.

Even if it doesn't get better, it's good enough for me to enjoy. Insecure is out, I need my black girl fix.

Cringy AF and Hilarious!
5 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
From the opening, I was laughing because I knew it was going to be bad. I totally predicted the 'friend' was the one behind the whole thing. The acting was only horrible because the writing was. I've seen the actors in other movies and they were never this cringy.

The parts that should have been full of suspense like when the cops came to the door was so ridiculous. No tension whatsoever. Their line of questioning was so stupid, I just wanted them to leave. "Why were you drinking?" LOL!

The part where grandma was waking up should have been another one of those tense moments. We should have seen her wake up, walk to the bathroom or something, even go downstairs and get some water without knowing a damn thing. That would have been far more exciting. But no, she just walks out and starts yelling. Funny AF.

The action wasn't thrilling at all. At all times I felt they were playing cops and robbers.

Bad angles, sound wasn't mixed well in some places, and you could the ending was the cherry on the cringy top. I recommend you watch with friends for a good laugh.

Interesting plot, horrible story.

Cringy AF...

I know what this was supposed to be a fun, light-hearted, just for laughs type of movie that you can watch with a group of friends and have a good time, like the classic Friday. But this aint it!!

It popped up on my suggestions on Netflix and I saw T.I. and Epps was on it, so I clicked. They've done some really good and funny stuff so I know a movie with them would be decent. I was wrong.

I enjoy a good-bad low budget movie, with sub par acting and plot, but this was all over place. The overacting was strong on this one. And you can tell a lot of the dialogue was off script, which was supposed to make it funnier, but it would end up just going and going to the point where it got awkward. Even the great Loretta seemed like an amateur. Dialogue and direction is that bad.

There are times it's obvious people were simply added to give the actor something funny to say, but it goes nowhere.

This movie had potential...I liked the premise. Better handling of the script, better supporting actors and keeping a tighter leash on the dialogue could've taken it from a F movie to the B level that it wanted to be.

I judge a movie by how easily I can recreate it. I could've rounded up a couple of friends and video taped a quick story just like this one. There was nothing special about it other than it's cast. A for effort. F for the fact that they squandered all of the talent they had to work with.

If you're 13 years old or just looking for a movie you want to play in the background of a party just to have something on, this is perfect.
