Ignore the naysayers

This was a really good movie! It kept me entertained, had some laughs, some twists, and a brilliant ending. It had a strong cast and unusual storyline. Is it real? No. Can those things really happen? No. It's FICTIONAL.

The Lie (2018)

Ridiculous on so many levels
10 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to write a bunch of stuff here at the beginning so that if you use the app like I do, even if it says 'Spoilers' it still shows the title of the review and the first few lines of the comments. So if the big reveal is mentioned right away then say goodbye to enjoying the movie.

So, to me, this movie gave away the ending from the title of the movie. The Lie. Not Lies, not Cover-up, not Responsible, nor any other title that could have been chosen. The Lie. So there is one lie. What could it possibly be? Duh. She lied about the whole thing. I suspected from the very start and was positive when the mom woke from a dream of seeing the supposed dead girl. Not to mention the absurdity of the girls' plan. Other spoiler reviews go into depth concerning the absurdity so if you're curious, read those. My point is that with a different title, some more realistic clues, and a little more intelligence given to the character of the lawyer mother, this could have been a decent movie.

Unsolved Mysteries (2020– )

First episode Spoilers
1 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've only watched the first episode but you can see the direction the series will lead. The cases will be interesting but there will be a lot of filler clips of sad videos, pictures, etc. For instance, in episode 1, we saw clips of the wedding video at least 3 times. The wedding was unrelated to the case. Also, the news reporter making jokes and laughing was completely inappropriate and shouldn't have been part of the show. SPOILER:

My very first thought after they found the body and they could not ascertain where Rey Riveria supposedly fell/jumped/pushed from was that he was in a helicopter. How else do you fall from the height that inflicted so many injuries to his body if a rooftop is not probable? It could also explain the cause for the medical examiners reason for listing the cause of death as undetermined due to the broken bones around his shin. His leg could have hit the bar at the bottom of a helicopter or even one of the ornate and crumbling moldings on the outside of the Belvedere Hotel. I'm not in law enforcement, I do not know the family, nor have I ever been to Baltimore but it makes me wonder why this obvious possibility wasn't mentioned in the show.

I want to be Octavia Spencer when I grow up!
26 March 2020
She is one of the best actresses in the world, in my opinion. This mini-series is part of the proof. Well-written, beautifully directed, and an interesting and socially important story.

A story that I should have learned in school. Why wasn't Madame C.J. Walker included with the names of Rockefeller and Carnegie in my school text books in the 1990s? Why has it taken 30 more years for the world (or just me) to learn about her? These stories are important. This particular story is not only important, but entertaining. Learning something new and enjoying myself at the same time=10 stars!

Not what you would expect!
6 October 2019
This movie was not what I expected at all. I was all ready for a shoot 'em up Liam film and instead got a shoot 'em up Liam movie with a lot of dark comedy. You don't have any idea what is about to happen in almost every scene. The scenery is excellent. The sound effects truly genius. If you're a fan of Liam, watch it. If you're a fan of dark comedy, watch it. If you're a fan of the unexpected, watch it!

What age group is this movie for???
25 May 2019
I'm really confused. The main characters are pre-teens so you would think the movie was aimed towards that age group. But no, between the violence, profanity, and innuendo, I would definitely not let a pre-teen watch it. But again, the characters are kids. It isn't funny nor charming enough for adults, the action sequences were horrendously bad, and most of it made absolutely no sense. However....I was slightly entertained because of these inconsistencies. If it's free and you're very bored, watch it.
