Zubeidaa (2001)
A story of a Princess
I enjoyed watching Zubeidaa. The acting was great, and history and Rajhastani culture were portrayed beautifully. The only thing I hated about the movie was the character of Zubeidaa. It was always about, 'I, Me, Mine' with her, and to me she seemed like a spoiled and childish brat. Karishma Kapoor looked very pretty and her acting was wonderful, despite a stinky character she portrayed. Rekha looked beautiful and young as always. If you can help not hitting the screen every time Zubeidaa wallows in self pity, I recommend you to watch the movie. If nothing else, it can give one a pretty good idea of the lifestyle of Maharajas in that time era!
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001)
A nice family movie
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is a pretty good movie in terms of acting, and music, but it hasn't got a great story. Kajol performed her part well. Shahrukh's crying started out as saddening, but got a bit annoying by the end of the movie. And as for Kareena, Karan needs to go do his research before putting in a character like her in his films, because that is not what desi girls living in the west are like. Hrithik was OK. Amitabh and Jaya were also pretty good. Karan had a good concept, but he lacked the ability to convert that concept into a great story. The movie would have been much more enjoyable with a little less 'crying'. Overall, it's worth a watch. I wouldn't spend too much money on it though...
