Glee: The Quarterback (2013)
Hollywood is a heartless mess. But thank you!
Yes, Cory just died shortly before the filming of this episode. The cast was devastated, and the feelings were pretty fresh. The writers, the director, the producers used that to get genuine reactions. A**holes.... right? Well, yes and no. Seeing real people's real reactions was refreshing, regardless of what the creators' intent was. One of the most tear jerking hour of television you've ever seen.
The Good Doctor: Claire (2019)
Antonia Thomas is amazing.
I do not completely agree with every decision the writers made (Robert Sean Leonard just seemed like a comic relief in this episode. I get it, we need that, but we're talking about a House veteran, it was a little off even if it made me laugh.)
And yet I'm still here to thank Liz Friedman and Tracy Taylor, the writers of this episode. It finally gave a chance for Antonia Thomas (Claire Browne) to shine as an actress. She was amazing. The range she has is incredible. The way every little emotion shows on her face is crazy awesome. And I'm pretty sure she could carry her own show with her talents and this character.
Congratulations, Antonia!
Family Guy: Girl, Internetted (2019)
Welcome back, Family Guy
The episode before this was a clear improvement compared to the rest of this season and I thought it was only because Cherry Chevapravatdumrong wrote it.
Now we're still far from the old Family Guy, but I really enjoyed last night's episode. Nothing too special about this one, it deals with today's social media trends, but does so in a way that makes it look extremely exaggerated while in reality it's pretty accurate unfortunately.
A few hit and miss jokes here and there, but overall a much needed highlight of this season.
The Orville: The Road Not Taken (2019)
Great finale for a great season....
I'm a little worried about the fact that this season ended without any cliffhangers. While I understand they didn't want to leave any major plot lines open, I'm also hoping they did not intend to say goodbye to the fans.
I loved the first season, and this one was a huge improvement in every way.
Seth MacFarlane cares deeply about this show, and its evidenced by the fact that he and his crew worked on this episode right till the end. And it shows. Production, editing, sound mixing and above all the visual effects were spot on. One of The Orville's charms are the great, but obviously not super high budget CGI scenes. Yesterday we were treated to some exceptional VFX porn without taking us out of the typical Orville feels. Not to mention the intense story.
Just imagine where MacFarlane can take this show in the years to come... Let's just hope Fox (or rather Disney) sees it that way too.
