Destined at Christmas (2022)
For all their near misses this is a complete miss.
I understand that they keep missing each other but it just happens too many times. Also, the leading male couldn't call out for her when they were leaving the black out? Her waiting two more minutes outside would have solved this whole plot, which wouldn't be far fetched. Not only did he not share as much as her but didn't actively try much to find her. He left a good tip at the diner but couldn't top up and tip for the hot chocolate.
His daughter is into dinosaurs but he doesn't really mention it to the leading woman.
Her ex is also terrible and gaslighting. He won't listen to her and is so pushy. It's the type of sugary sweet pushy that if you say no, you're being rude or unreasonable. So she feels obligated to go along with him. He also keeps touching her and it's very obviously not welcome. Her family needs to stop encouraging her to get back with her ex. It's very cringy and inappropriate. As weird and the sister-in-law angle for the male lead. Trying to set them up feels forced.
Every shot looks like it's using portrait mode on your phone. The backgrounds are all blurred, so sometimes it feels like a green screen. The plot has a lot of loose ends and doesn't tie things back in well. The directing is not good, pacing is terrible, the longing glances to nowhere are awkward. Script feels like a high school project, it's choppy and stiff.
Boyfriends of Christmas Past (2021)
Friendzoned Christmas Carol
I really wanted to like this one. Filled with diversity and cultural references but this is the reason that diversity movies seem forced. This felt like hallmark tried to put all the diversity in one movie. Also, not a fan of the friend who waits in the wings hoping for a chance storyline. If someone does that they aren't a real friend. Made what would have been a good character a bit of a creep.
You, Me & the Christmas Trees (2021)
Cheesy tree puns
The main character should have been a single dad because this movie is filled with dad jokes. This movie was entertaining just for the puns. I love Benjamin Ayres in these movies, and have enjoyed some Danica McKeller ones too. I think he did a good job here but this wasn't her best. Still worth watching IMO.
Much Ado About Christmas (2021)
Absolutely terrible. Butchering Shakespeare and Accents
Fake screensaver style snow. Horrible acting. Don't waste your time with this. A lot of heavy breathing and sighs. Over acting. I'm bewildered by how bad this is. CGI is on level with 90s movies.
