I have liked Rebecca St James and her music for many decades, but I did not know they made a movie about her family. When I first heard of the movie, the same night I went, I honestly sort of dreaded going as I thought it would be one of two things. First, I feared it would be a concert venue sort of movie with lots of songs and no real story. It is NOT that at all. The music is very minimal, and in fact, Rebecca St James is actually a secondary character. Not the prime character.
Second, I feared the movie would be a cheesy preaching movie about overly Christian themes and use a sledge hammer to drive home points. IT is NOT like that either.
Side note, too many religious films are just cheesy and poor quality. This is not like that.
This is a true story about a family in crisis and the main characters are David and Hellen, the parents of six, then seven kids.
The film follows the family when the dad's business crumbles and they move from Australia to the USA.
Great acting.
Nice soundtrack, which is not all pop music.
Great dialog.
Realistic portrayal of a Christian family, and the community they find in a church setting. But again, the religious aspects are not preachy, or oppressive.
Overall, I liked the movie very much and was impressed by how well it was made. Lionsgate movies are usually well done, at least to me.
Great film.
