Warning: Spoilers
The back of the DVD box says Ellen Page co-stars in this movie. She does not even appear until two thirds of the movie is over and then its in minor role. I don't consider it a supporting role either, but rather a "bit" part. Also the plot has many unexplained elements. Some examples are: why does the main character reject her oldest son? Why does her youngest son drive head on into the train? He says its for a "sucker" bet which doesn't explain anything. Obviously the screenwriter doesn't know the definition of a sucker bet. This film is not worthy of the rental price in my opinion. Save your money and view it for free on TV if you think it needs to be seen.

40 mins into the movie and I bailed out
10 September 2006
This new trend of shooting a film with jerky camera movements is not at all entertaining. Why do we, the audience, have to work at seeing what is going on? They purposely jerk the camera, hide it behind objects, make people pass in front of the camera or stick the camera up in somebody's face so close you can't even see their entire face. Do you like that? I sure don't! It's distracting. It reminds me there is a person with a camera butting into the conversation. Movie making should not make you aware there is a camera in the scene. It should be passive not active. They also keep moving the camera around too much, panning from one person to the next, or edit the film too quickly so you can never actually read the expressions or emotions on their faces. I am seeing this method being used more and more. I don't like it. It caused me to abandoned the movie. Was that what the producers wanted? I don't think so.

Could be better if I could understand them
10 September 2006
I am noticing a trend in movies. The actors are not speaking clearly enough for me to understand them or the sound quality is poor and doesn't pick up their lines well enough. At other times the background noise or the soundtrack is drowning out the actors' lines. This is one of those movies.

I'm not talking about the cryptic slang and buzz words these kids were using. I pretty much got most of that. Using a two syllable name for the characters would have been an improvement, instead of Pin, Dode, Tug, or M as Emily was called most of the time.

Viewing this movie on DVD gave me the chance to stop and backup the scenes to understand the actors more clearly. Several scenes required me to back up three times to understand the gist of what they were saying. Sometimes I never could make out the words.

Is it me, or does Hollywood or independent filmmakers think this mumbling is cool? If I had gone to see this film in the theater, I would have probably left since I would be lost as to what was going on with the plot.

I would have rated the movie higher had it not been for this major flaw with the sound quality.

Other than that, the film does have some good twists and keeps you hooked, entertained, and guessing.

Good Mystery and then some
18 July 2006
This movie is a great mystery with good pacing and Robert Wagner in top form. It is definitely worthy of a DVD release! Perhaps it could be coupled with another movie to share the costs? The narration of Wagner together with the notes he makes in his little notebook really add to the story. The audience gets to feel like they are the Wagner character or at least right there with him on his trip of discovery as to who the Peter Lawford character really is and what he is up to. I didn't know this was a TV movie. I thought it was a theatrical release because the production quality was so high. I highly recommend this movie! And please, if anyone FINDS this movie on home video, let the rest of us know. We would be very grateful.
