i love this film..
17 July 2014
cuz its a journey worth coming along for.

jason at the helm as director and WOW you nailed it. this film was just what i was looking for one afternoon. may you offer us more glances into stories, characters and songs to share with us.

the road is leading to Peace. will it be a happy ending? will we glimpse some Truth lit by smoke along the way? i encourage you the reader and potential participant to find out.

some said the viewpoint of Robert Wolf is one-sided. Who cares? It's his story and this film delivers..

thx jason, lisa and all involved with this project. i've watched it with my family of four including a 2yr old and a 4yr old, an' we'll watch it many more times i'm sure.

cheers, lee

Martyrs (2008)

believable..

a sign of the fuked up time we live in with psychopaths pulling the strings and sheeple too stupid to hear the music. yet for all their wealth and power they are ultimately pathetic twisted creatures unable to seek and accept Life in all her beauty! truly it must be that growing our own heirloom food, building whatever we require in fablabs and sustaining independently worthy societies respecting Life and death may bring us to an interesting shore. yes the actors, director and DP brought a polished film into existence, it is art and it does hold a mirror to our own depravity. zizek, would you view this as an example of our systemic malaise?

The Take (2004)

a message all of us need to hear..
28 December 2008
namely that there ARE options available to us all.

8/10 for the message of hope, commiseration for our working/unemployed Argentine brothers and sisters.

6/10 for the quality of the film.

there is so much unhappiness among the people of the world that ARE working, let alone those suffering war, poverty/sickness. Billions of workers' tax dollars bailing out banks and corporations, as decisions by the politicians of canada and the u.s.?!? You need to wake up if you do not realize the intent behind such policies. Why do so many people continue to accept idiotic and heartless "bosses" in the workplace? Their positions of power are supported by fear, and violence. We NEED movies like this at the very least to show us all the glimmer of light at the end of OUR long, dark tunnel..

the direct democracy worked towards by the people filmed here, is the democracy i believe in. for me the most important lesson here is that the workers succeeded with the support of their Community.

great things are possible when we work together.

Occupy.Resist.Produce!

Horizontalidad!!

Taken (I) (2008)

"I will find you, and I will kill you."
29 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
And the character played by Liam Neeson keeps his word. I'm reminded of another film on the subject of human slavery in our present era called Lilja 4ever, but Taken has action and tight editing that goes beyond..

I recommend this film of breakneck action with tension to keep your heart pumping as you follow a man's single-minded purpose, to rescue his child. The action sequences are nasty and eminently effective in portraying the kind of skills Neeson's character needs to succeed. And it's believable, too easily believable for our cynical modern world.

To all those who worked on this film, you did an amazing job.

To all those children unrescued, undocumented and abandoned by the world, I pray you somehow find peace.

Red Cliff (2008)

subtle touches shine within a re-telling of the epic romance..
12 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
that fans around the world came to love through such different media as video games, print, graphic novels, video series and manga. Thankfully, the actors chosen to portray such famous names are able to support these persona's with their own perspective. If the film does not exactly follow the version the audience is familiar with, the story does succeed, and will charm you as you sit viewing a space created by Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Cao Cao and envisioned by Zhuge Liang. I loved it. I thank you Mr. Woo, and all those responsible for a thrilling moment created and shared. We may have some idea or none about who Guan Yu is, and what he will someday become. But it feels almost as though certain characters are granted defining moments where their attributes shine forth in near purity or force of sheer will. Not all heroes shed the blood of their enemies upon the battlefield, some sacrifice themselves with difficulty, so that the next generation may live. In fact at moments in the film one can get a sense of the extreme difficulty being experienced by common folk and noble alike.

Zhao Zilong, Guan Yu, Chang Fei can be seen hurtling forward their signature weapons in order to prove they have no need of them to accomplish legendary feats.

"if you seek a wondrous deed, first seek out a wondrous man.."
