Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)

What the hell was this?????
25 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For me this marks the moment Black Mirror died. Anything that made the show so exceptional and unique- it's amazing writing, performances, beautiful cinematography, insightful social commentary-is nowhere to be found in this episode. Instead we get a ridiculous Disney channel level wacky adventure with Miley Cyrus. The plot makes no sense-Why would a record label put their own client in coma? Why would the Miley Cyrus action figure dolls have a way to make the real "Miley Cyrus" be installed into them? Why is the episode so comedic in tone when almost every other episode of the show is serious and dark?

Great start to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that can stand on it's own

Warning: Spoilers
I've been attempting to go and watch all MCU movie in chronological order, so naturally I would start with this one.

I actually really enjoyed this movie and found it to be unique and a great way to start a franchise. It works very well as a superhero origin story, Tony Stark is a selfish, arrogant billionaire arms dealer who has to learn to use his power and influence for good. The beginning of this movie is very compelling, we get to see Tony Stark captured and with his own weapons used against, losing everything and living in a cave for three months. I like the more realistic and tense tone of these scenes, and it's refreshing to see the protagonist of a superhero movie actually struggling. After three months Tony makes his escape, he uses the materials the terrorists gave him to make weapons to create a weaponized suit for himself. Tony uses the suit to kill the terrorists and escape and when he returns home is a changed man.

This part is really interesting as we see a man who has lost everything finally reflect on who he is and decide to change his selfish ways. Tony Stark had to have his own weapons and the violent system which.

One of the best Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
31 July 2021
To be honest I'm not a huge marvel fan or even a huge Spiderman fan, but I still really love this movie. I think the main reason for this is the characters. Tom Holland is absolutely amazing as Spiderman and his struggle in the movie of having to balance the challenges of being a teenager with being a superhero is really interesting and compelling. As a teenager myself, I like that the kids in this movie actually act like teenagers and their interactions are really funny and genuine. This movie also has a really good villain, especially for the MCU, played by Michael Keaton, who is intimidating and has understandable motivations. The script for this movie is also very strong and has some really funny jokes and good character moments. If there are flaws to this movie it's that the action is pretty bland and underwhelming, but it's not necessarily bad and is still enjoyable to watch. Overall, I really love this movie and would recommend it even to people who don't really care about Marvel movies.

The low point of human entertainment.

Boring, pointless, terrible show that allowed some extremely narcissistic and egotistical people to rise to fame.

Actually a lot of fun

I'll admit I have a lot of nostalgia for this show. However, after rewatching it now that I'm older plenty of aspects of it still hold up. The writing is surprisingly funny in a weird sort of way(one of the main character is literally a "urban" puppet.) The acting from the kids is fine and obviously it includes a lot of breakout stars like Ariana Grande. Obviously it is a kids sitcom so it has a lot of cheesiness but as far as this genre goes I'll still say it gets a pass from me.

Spectacular film

This movie has beautiful cinematography, great performances by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, and, of course, a wonderful soundtrack. Even if you think this movie is just a cheesy musical there is an element of realism that keeps the movie relatable and grounded. I would recommend this movie to everyone- especially those who are fans of old time Hollywood musicals.

Strangely awful
3 January 2021
Honestly, I am not a huge DC fan and I didn't even love the first Wonder Woman movie that much. But this movie makes the first one seem like a masterpiece. The plot makes no sense and is really awful. The acting is pretty bad, with their being a lack of chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. There is a surprising lack of action, and the action that is in the movie sucks. The whole movie is just so cheesy and not in a self aware way just in a lazy and ridiculous way. The special effects and action are the awful, the fight between Wonder Woman and Cheetah was really hard to watch. The whole movie was just really strangely bad and cheesy. It's probably not the worst movie in the DCEU but it is definitely a really awful movie.
