Still thinking about it!
5 March 2024
I am not sure where to start. I saw this movie three days ago and I've thought about it heaps since. I really can see this movie isn't for everyone, as it's atmospheric and very surreal as well. Many times we watch a movie and go ok, what's next, when it finish he's and it's soon forgotten.

This movie starts slow, but builds and somehow Adam holds your attention and you grow to care what happens to all the players.

It's an interesting and unusual treatment of characters and one that I found very moving.

Give it a try you might love it too.

No, it's not average - more a homage to 70's style movies, sparse but somehow rich.

The depth is in what isn't said and the point might be that we don't see what is important, or valuable even when it is right in front of us.

It's also amazing that you can go from fear to love, for a huge spider, (more than likely his subconscious fears, in reality). Skinny human who fears love and is embraced by Hanus anyway.

But who knows, that's just my take on it!

Louis Hoffman lights the screen, again!
12 January 2024
Firstly, I read the book, All the light we cannot see and found it to be a profoundly beautiful book. Doerr the writer described the events in such beautiful terms and moves the reader with his words, I just had to put the book down on occasions to close my eyes and be there, with them, for a minute to let the emotions and images wash over me. To be truthful I was a little bit worried when I heard Netflix was doing a series, but overjoyed when I read that Louis Hoffman, from the brilliant Dark, was playing Werner the main character. Aria Maria Loberti a legally blind new actress, was also very believable and strong. I think that the series tried very hard to encapsulate the concepts of the story. Nothing can ever be as good as the book. Very few series or films are as good as the original book, in which our own imagination draws the environment, the people and their natures and their characters. In this series the two young main characters were absolutely beautiful, and Lewis Hoffman is a stunning young actor and I have much regard for him and found it an absolute pleasure to watch. My only complaint about the whole series was Marie-Laurie walking without shoes with glass and debris everywhere go r so long towards the end, but that's a small complaint overall. I'm also rereading the book now.

Warrior Nun (2020–2022)
7/10
Just so hard to classify!
15 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching S2 of Warrior Nun and I am truly conflicted. The main characters and actors are very good over all and I love Ava and Beatrice. Yes, it is exciting and I really kept wanting to see what happened. The scenery, and the special effects all help to make it look good. Now here's where I start to question what the point is! So, why call each episode a verse from the bible, when ultimately it is anti Christian and anti religion? That's a bit confusing. Also unfortunately in my opinion, the script can be so poor! It could have been stronger and developed characters more. The plot line also has huge holes in it. Like for example Adriel electrocutes the Pope to cinders and nothing happens? The search for the "Crown of Thorns" which was "used to stop Jesus doing supernatural things"? That's a bit touchy even for me who isn't even a committed Christian. The fact that Reya is the white ultimate supreme being? That Michael spent 15 years in the "other realm" training to defeat Ariel only to have his heart torn out, by Lilith, in seconds, in the big battle in the last episode? That Vincent changed sides more than a gambler. That the Nuns used way to many guns to shoot people (sure they are bad guys) in the 2nd series. I love the martial arts and I'm not a big fan of guns or cutting peoples throats from behind. Plus, the Warrior Nun Ava is so powerful she can restore Mother Superion back to life, but can't withstand Lilith? Needs to go to the other realm to heal, when she is self healing with the halo? These thoughts are my problems with the series. Now, as a huge fantasy fan I can usually go with diversions from source material, but mainly due to the over the top bloodshed and the fact I didn't feel moved by the plot development this season I won't be coming back for season 3.

Wow, wonderful episode!!
30 September 2022
Wow. Seventy minutes of exciting action, beautiful and moving moments. This episode made all of us, almost shout at the tv worrying about our favourite characters. Arondir is just so terrific and Bronwyn and Galadriel are too as is Halbrand. The exciting battles were reminiscent of true LoTR Helms Deep. You just had to see what would happen next!! All the people who have criticised the colour and gender mix of this series are missing so much, Numenor and the boats were just too glorious to behold, tonight's episode built on character development and shows so much promise for what's coming next. The people who might criticise this brilliant episode, they just need to turn off the tv and go to bed!

Season 4 oh my goodness so awesome!!
26 July 2022
Ok, truth be known I am almost 70, had four boys who grew up in the 80s and I just loved the first 3 seasons, when kids couldn't just text are you home? But had to get on the bike and ride to their friends house. The clothes, the video shop, the landlines all looked perfect. The cast in Season 4 have grown n changed as we all do when young. I also confess I was a bit scared of Vecna and wasn't sure if I would continue. But I did and what a reward. The episode with Max and the Running up the Hill, a wonderful 80's song was stunning and so suspenseful. Same with Eddie's awesome rendition of Master of Puppets, I've laughed, I've squirmed, I've worried and I've cried with this wonderful bunch of kids and Joyce and Hopper too. Awesome TV, cant recommend enough.

Stick with this wonderful show
26 July 2022
Although we were initially concerned that the romance from the past would overshadow this series, it didn't. The cinematography was blissful and while at times the story seemed to move slowly, suddenly there was a plot twist making you sit up and go wow. We thought the last episode was just so moving and we still think about it weeks after.

Disappointing 2nd Seasom
6 June 2021
I totally loved the 1st Season of Ragnarok and was so excited when the second season started. I looked forward to picking up the story and seeing what Magne and Laurits were going to do. Unfortunately, I feel it travelled very little and sadly made me think of a Norwegian soap at times. The worst thing is not a lot actually happened (in almost 6 hours) to advance the story line. Then in the final episode, near the end, some excitement and then it's over!! Which was how series one ended. Not sure if I'd bother with Season 3.

Second Series is Super
13 September 2020
The first season had me hooked, it was intriguing and a great mystical story, with great characters. I had also enjoyed the first season of The Protector but when I started watching the second season of The Protector I found it was ridiculous and lost all sensibility! I am happy to tell you that the second season of The Gift is magic and you will not be disappointed, watch it when you can and love it.

Wonderful Movie - Go See It, you won't be disappointed!
3 July 2019
This is my first review as an Avid movie goer who sees at least 1-2 movies a week. Well, yesterday we three baby boomers went to see Yesterday and after reading reviews here on IMDB we hoped to enjoy it. As the music of the Beatles was the soundtrack of our youth, we were so interested to see how the movie would handle the theme. We couldn't imagine a world without their music. With the writer and director we thought it would be in good hands. To say we enjoyed the movie and the way it dealt with the story is an understatement. The guilt that the character Jack felt about passing off the Beatles songs as his own, the resolution of this issue and the touching moments when Jack made things right were just so well done. We all laughed out loud and shed some tears as well. Excellent supporting actors as well. British films are often so adorably quirky, funny and how could you not love the songs? We saw lots of young and teenagers really enjoying this Fab film. Best movie I have seen this year.
