Blue Eyed (1996)
10/10
A remarkable documentary
27 July 2002
This amazing documentary talks about Jane Elliott, a former white teacher who tries to show other white people the feeling of being discriminated. Basically, is that; but the way she teaches blue eyed people how is to be an African-American is pretty touching.

I recommend this one to everybody. I believe it will make you think about discrimination against colored people, women, gays... and how to stop stereotypes. Ms. Elliott, you're a role-model!!!

O Quatrilho (1995)

A real story
19 February 2001
This movie calls my attention in so many ways. It tells the story of two of the hundreds of families that came from Italy to Brazil in late 19th century and beginning of the 20th, looking for a better life for them and their children.

The movie talks about a couple of Italian families, with their own costumes and habits. The main characters are two women an two men, trying to fit in a conservative society. That's the basic thing about the film, that was filmed in the south of Brazil, with some really beautiful shots of this Brazilian region.

"O Quatrilho" not just deserved an Oscar nomination as Best Foreign Language Film, but also has to be remembered as one of the best Brazilian movies ever made. If you haven't seen it, rent it and take a look in this masterpiece of Bruno Barreto's brother: Fábio Barreto.

Bravo Whoopi!
13 February 2001
When I saw this movie for the first time I really liked it. Not just because it's a nice romantic film, but also because Whoopi Goldberg is fantastic in it and, obviously, deserved that Oscar. She didn't just bring some comedy to the movie, she acted perfectly.

For the first time I kind of liked Demi's performance (and hey, she was playing a normal woman...). The sound-track by Maurice Jarre is touching and very appropriate to the movie. The don't think I'll ever get tired of this love story.
