Non uccidere (2015)
Some good writing, and some ridiculous content
I really enjoyed the first two seasons. I thought the writing was pretty good and although Valeria didn't smile until probably the last season, I think they developed her character that way to fit with the trauma of her past. That made sense, contrary to other reviews. It was her sour personality that also may have contributed to her choice of clothing. I did appreciate that they didn't capitalize on her beauty. That said, the show didn't have one episode in what I believe was season 3 where there wasn't either steamy or violent sex. It was gratuitous and unnecessary. It didn't advance the plot lines. I had to wonder if all the good writers left. In this regard, along with the depiction of Italians as a specific stereotype I won't mention so that I don't ruin it for others, I didn't rate it higher. The ending was just stupid, especially if there is not another season. Talk about disappointing. I hope they have another season just to redeem season 4.
Astrid et Raphaëlle (2019)
A wonderful show that brings understanding to ASD
I read some of the earlier reviews which gave this show terrible ratings. I wholeheartedly disagree. This was the first time I have watched a show in another language and I was very hesitant. However, after 10 minutes I was able to follow along easily. Unless you know or have worked with people who have ASD, don't criticize the characterization of Astrid. Autism is on a spectrum, and she demonstrates many of the traits well. This show moves both main characters through season one with a beautiful development of each character. This is a fictional show of course, but the writing is brilliant. Shows hire expert consultants so that there is realism to what you see in Astrid. It's heartwarming and humorous. It's deeply touching. We love this show.
Annika: Episode #1.1 (2021)
Different, but well written
I am a huge Nicola Walker fan. We got PBS masterpiece just so we could watch this show. I've read the other reviews where people say that they hate that she talks to the camera. I admit at first it seemed kind of odd, but after a while I realized that it helped not only with her character development, but added humor. It is not your typical murder show. And that is actually refreshing. History is embedded in an unusual way. I've watched three episodes and I feel it's gotten better. I love the show. And contrary to the opinions of some, I think Annika is a great, humanized character with flaws like all of us.
Dalziel and Pascoe: Demons on Our Shoulders: Part 1 (2007)
Stop before this episode!
I can handle a lot. I gave this episode 38 minutes. It was utterly gruesome and so out of character for this great show. I read numerous reviews about people's disappointment in season 12. So far they are correct. This episode is filled with blood, satanic rituals and unnecessary gore.
Midsomer Murders: Death and Dreams (2003)
The Worst Episode of All
I am a die hard fan of this show and as others have already discussed the ludicrous plot, I won't go into detail again. I was so bothered by the gruesome nature of this episode, and the way that children were depicted and why they did what they did, that I truly feel that this is the type of television that does more harm than good for our society. This episode was not the quality that I'm used to from the show. Honestly, I just thought it was sick.
