Lifechanger (2018)
Gripping and Creepy
Lifechanger is a very unique horror movie which had me gripped throughout. It's very much a character study of one man/woman who can take the forms of other people but has to kill them to do so. Sprinkled with a love story and some pretty gruesome body horror for good measure, Lifechanger is a very special kind of horror movie that I'm sure won't be for everyone but I loved it.
The acting is superb and I really got into the character's heads which really helped, expecially because the lead is quite a dark character.
Great Cinematogtaphy and sound design add to its eerie atmosphere and tone. I would strongly reccomend you give this one a shot.

Book of Monsters (2018)
A loving tribute to 80s horror with heart
Book of Monsters is a fun, high energy thowback horror movie. Whilst it says it's a comedy/horror, I thought it worked more in the vein of Evil Dead 2 or Gremlins 2 where the comedy came from the crazy monster attacks and gore than actual jokes which is a good thing. The plot isn't anything to write home about but the characters are likeable and I rooted for them to survive (well, almost all of them).
The monsters were pretty cool and the film does something crazy and actually shows you a lot of them instead of hiding them in the shadows like most low budget films. Whilst this has its positives & negatives, I thought it helped the humour of the film and there are some really goofy scenes with some monsters that bring the gore level up to 11.
The cast are pretty good for people I've never head of before and its clear they spent some time when casting so they found the right people for the characters. The leading trio are very fun although only the main girl gets any real character development which is a shame but it is satisfying at least. The stripper is a highlight and made me laugh out loud more than once, expecially in a scene he shares with the smaller monsters which I won't spoil here.
The biggest thing about this movie is it feels like a taste of a larger, better story and was clearly constrained by the low budget. They did a good job with what they had and you can tell there was a lot of passion and love for the genre poured into it unlike most other low budget stuff out there.
On a side note, I originally saw this at New York City Horror Film Fest in 2018 where it looked and and sounded awesome and actually won best film and sound design at the fest. However, I started watching this on Amazon Prime last week to find the sound levels were all over the place which makes me think something whent wrong when they uploaded it. If you're gonna watch the film, then buy the Blu-ray or get it anywhere else but Amazon.
FINAL SCORES:
Movie: 4/5
Picture: 4/5
Sound: 5/5
Cast: 4/5
VERDICT: If you like goofy 80s horror like Evil Dead 2, Gremlins and even a touch of Stranger Things, then this movie was made for you. If your horror tastes are more towards Lights Out, The Conjuring and Saw then give it a miss.
Final Destination (2000)
The original and the best!
I love this movie and it's still the best of the series. It has the best deaths and uses the concept well. Everything after it is worse and worse.
Climax (2018)
Strap yourself in!
This movie will shatter you to your core. From the opening dance sequence you'll be sucked into this crazy story of drug infused people whose darker sides are exposed with escalating horror. Really worth a watch but be prepared for one hell of a ride.
