Roadfood (2021)
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE!
I am crazy about Misha Collins and he has done a wonderful job as the traveling host on RoadFood. I hope that it gets a green-light for a second season. :)
Walker: No Such Thing as Fair Play (2022)
I LOVED THIS EPISODE!
Thanks to Jensen Ackles coming in to direct, finally I get to watch a cohesive episode. Jensen did a great job directing and it truly felt like an organized show. He finally got Jared Padalecki to stop stumbling over his words and making these facial ticks. Also, I loved seeing Jensen's silhouette at the end, although I wish he had more of a big cameo appearance. It is a shame that Jensen will not direct on Walker permanently, because without him, this show doesn't stand a chance.
Walker: Defend the Ranch (2021)
A Pure Headache!
I have been wanting this show to have more cases and action, but as soon as the action comes, it turns out to be the cheesiest action episode ever. These outdated tropes are getting ridiculous! Do the writers have to always use them in these episodes? The way the characters were reacting did not make sense- I mean Bonham not calling 911, but decides to medicate his son who has been shot? I just had to shake my head.
The acting is still subpar and the actors who are doing a good job are just placed on the sidelines. In this episode Coby Bell (who plays Captain James) had practically 3 or four lines to say! You would think that his character would be more involved in these episodes since he is the captain. Instead it seems like Micki and Walker are in charge of the whole police station- with Micki acting like the captain.
I know Jared Padalecki is the lead character of this show, but Lindsey Morgan isn't and she has more scenes than any of the other actors and her acting is bad. Why aren't the other actors being shown more? What's the point of having all these characters when the kids, Walker, and Micki are the only ones who are mostly being shown? The writers need to give more screen time to Coby Bell, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan, Keegan Allen, and Jeff Pierre. They are very talented actors and it doesn't make sense that they are rarely shown when they can add more to show. Maybe if the writers would give them more scenes, it might help with the ratings.
Walker: Fine Is a Four Letter Word (2021)
This was The Worst Episode
What is going on with the acting and writing on this show? If Anne Fricke was never planning on making Walker a procedural cop show, then she should have said so. This is like a teen drama. This show uses so many tropes that it makes the show feel so outdated! Where are the cases? The only good part of the show was the scene with Walker's parents, that's IT. From the idiotic trope they used for Liam to lie to his fiancé to protect him to the tough-as-nails female partner all of sudden having a panic attack because of the natural disaster is just plain stupid writing. I am so frustrated with this show! The writing is just atrocious; we need a new show runner and the acting is pathetic. I don't know what is going on with Jared Padalecki, Lindsey Morgan, and even Jeff Pierre and Keegan Allen, but they need to really work on their acting. The only actors who are doing a good job are Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan, and Corby Bell. I am telling you this: anytime children on the show outshine the main character, something is TERRIBLY wrong!
Walker (2021)
Never Should Have Rebooted This
I have really tried to like this show, but the writing is horrible and the acting is not that great either. When I first read about the Walker reboot, I thought it was a joke. I never liked the original and didn't think that it was worth bringing the show back on again. Then when I found out that Jared Padalecki was going to be the main character of the show, I was hoping that he would change his mind and run. However, I decided to give the show a chance because I like Jared Padalecki and I thought that perhaps I would be wrong and the show would be good.
Now, that I have watched seven episodes of this show, I can actually admit that I was right: it was a bad choice to recreate this show. Here are my reasons:
1. The pacing is off. From the pilot all the way to episode seven, the transition of scenes goes either too fast or too slow. Half of the time I am thinking that either I had missed something or that I feel I am watching paint dry. It needs to have a steady pace so viewers do not get lost in the transition or become bored to death by the slowness of the plots. If this is a forty-two-minute show, then I shouldn't see twenty minutes about Walker and his family, twenty minutes about Micki's personal life, and then two minutes of the case for them to solve.
2. The writing is HORRIBLE. I know that Anne Fricke was part of other shows, but she does not do well writing for a procedural cop show. It is like the writing is stuck in the nineties and is filled with tropes ---tropes that no show should have in this day and age. I pretty much knew how the cases were going to end and how the characters were going to react just because of the tropes. I don't mind having diverse characters, because after all, unless you are living on the moon, you are going to meet all types of people in this country. But that doesn't mean that just because a show has diverse characters, that they should always have to be a symbol of how dysfunctional America is. Yes, I get it that being a female ranger would be tough; being a woman of color joining the Texas rangers would be even tougher. But, let's not make that the theme for every episode. Because if Micki hates how she is treated at her job, then realistically, she would not have stayed in this career path at all. Also, isn't this called Walker? Because the way the writing is heading, it feels to me that the title of the drama should be Walker and Micki. I find out more personal info about his partner than I do about Walker. The writing doesn't even take the time to flesh out any of the other characters and about their lives. It just goes to Walker and his family, then Micki. Now, it is Micki and her family drama. No offense, but there aren't two main characters of the show, so why am I watching about Micki's personal life? I am afraid that sooner rather than later, Walker will be pushed more in the background as a supporting character status and Micki will be more of the main character. And I understand that Lindsey Morgan has many fans, but I did not take the time to watch the show about Micki, the Texas Ranger. I decided to watch because it was supposed to be about Walker.
3. The acting on the show is not what I thought it would be and I am surprised. There are some actors on the show that truly stand out like Mitch Pileggi, Corby Bell, Molly Hagan, Keegan Allen, and Odette Annable. They are great! I even think that Violet Brinson, Jeff Pierre, and Kale Culley do a good job in their scenes. But I am shocked about Jared Padalecki and Lindsey Morgan's acting chops. I have seen Jared Padalecki in Supernatural and some movies, and I think he is very talented. For some reason on this show, he seems stiff, nervous, and he is continuously making these odd facial expressions that don't even match the scenes. I have heard so many people talking about how strong of an actress Lindsey Morgan is, but from what I have seen, she is just mediocre at best. Perhaps it is the writing, but I am not getting what the hype is around this actress. For me to actually believe what people are saying about her, she is going to have to do more than just show a pouty lip and teary eyes. The worst of all is Genevieve Padalecki. I am bewildered that she is even on this show. She was a terrible actress on Supernatural and she hasn't changed since being on Walker. Even the scenes that both Jared and Genevieve share are just so damn cringeworthy. I could probably deal with all the other bad things that this show has to offer if she weren't in it. To me, she just makes the show worse than it already is.
I really feel bad for being so harsh about this show, but if Walker is actually going to thrive, fans truly need to be honest and objective. I saw the many high scores for this show and I know what the fans are doing: they want to help Jared Padalecki. However, in order to truly help him, he and the rest of the cast and crew need to know about the shortcomings so they can fix them. Trust me, I think he would truly appreciate the honesty instead of the lies to "save his feelings".
Snow Bride (2013)
Loved the Movie, but I am Looking for a Song from the Movie
I know this is odd to ask in the review section, but I have been trying to find out where I can buy either the soundtrack for Snow Bride or find the song, "Northern Lights" by Ilsey Juber. For some reason, all of the other songs from the soundtrack I found except for this one. Does anyone know if it is available to buy?
Supernatural: Red Sky at Morning (2007)
Funny!
I loved this episode! There were many hilarious parts in the episode and the story line was entertaining. I love the actress Lauren Cohan! In this episode, she made the character come alive with her witty banter and her cunning ability to get what she wanted. It is one of the many episodes that I will watch over and over again.
Supernatural: I Know What You Did Last Summer (2008)
Boring and Stupid
I didn't find this episode interesting at all. I didn't like how the writers made Sam so weak that he would believe anything a demon would tell him --especially when she lied about being able to help his brother in the last season. It didn't make sense for Sam to be unable to "resist" being with Ruby. The whole story line was just stupid and I truly wished that the character was never created. The Ruby character was boring and annoying as well as the actress who portrayed her.
