Bodyguard (2018)
Fantastic Thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat
The show only takes about 1 minute to make you glued to the seat . Exciting , edgy , political ; the show has excellent cinematography and especially the action cinematography which will make you are in the action. Oh! of course the lead Richard Madden is at his best, and might make you tingle with the word "Yes Ma'am".
Baise-moi (2000)
Could have been better if it were a Tv/web Series
The biggest problem of this film was it's short 1 hour 30 minutes time which possibly couldn't cover all the themes involving : class struggle, platonic friendship, class based violence, hostility of lower strata of society towards the middle class who are wrongly held responsible for all their miseries, Vigilantism and most importantly how violent psychopath serial killers are created, that this film wanted to explore .
The film is about two Psychopaths , Nadine and Manu , who are going on a downward morale spiral. Set in the era of late 90s , the era of New French Extremity, both the protagonists a part time hooker Nadine and a part time B grade film actress Manu belongs to the lower strata of the economic class who are often subjected to sexual violence or humilition. Battered and bruised by the injustices of the world, both a found a comrade in each other. The film explores then how from weak victims, these women becomes the perpatrators of all those crimes themselves; a concept which requires at least an 8 episode 1 hour run showtime.
The excellent performance Karen Lancuame ( Nadine in movie) was marred by by quick cut edits and sloppy cinematography .
The film does features some graphic scenes , but isn't as bad as projected by media. The film can certainly be refined and remade in future because the script had a lot of potential . Due to its short run time , the film fails to evoke genuine emotions from the viewers for its two lead females. Though the pacing of the film was good , the wide spectrum of themes and sub themes needed a really expert director to turn it into an art.
Tokugawa onna keibatsu-emaki: Ushi-zaki no kei (1976)
Disturbing film showcases the evolution of tortures and sexual violence of Imperial Japan
The film is divided in two parts: 1st half in 1600s of Edo and the 2nd half in 1800s of the Imperial Japan.
The first half of the movie ultra violent nature of that hostile Edo rule depicting gore and horrific scenes might make your skin crawl.
The second half of the film tones down the violence a bit adding some dark humor and Black Comedy so as to show the society did progressed from it's Barbaric approaches of tortures or sexual violence to more humiliating approaches where the intention was to break them morally. The film certainly not suited for general audience because it would certainly lead you to depression.
Daredevil (2015)
The best Vigilante/Crime Thriller Series ever made
"The line between good and evil is blurred "
With brilliant cinematography and lighting the Daredevil tells you a realistic crime thriller story where every character is layered and complex. In this age of pop- corn-superhero culture, Daredevil is a breath of fresh air as in this series we can see both the Antagonist and the Protagonist has the same objective but are on the opposite ends of the moral spectrum. To question your sense of morality ....... it's a thriller you must watch
