Not as horrible as everyone says
9 February 2008
I found this film "cute" and "silly". Don't go to it and expect the best film of the year, but rather something fun to watch during a date. I went and saw this last night with a friend who did not want to see it...at all. In the end he said he did enjoy it after all.

There is a little bit of a "Dupree" feeling towards the character Finn who is irresponsible and far from mature. His character is charming in a goofy way. He seems to mess everything up, but somehow in the end it all work out.

I did not care too much for the character Gemma, but nonetheless I laughed at her idiotic comments because I have met people as naive as her. She's basically a miniature Paris Hilton at sea who knows nothing about the sea.

I wouldn't describe this movie as thrilling, but it was entertaining. The comedy is shallow here and there. However, there are some incidents that will make you laugh and laugh. If you want to see a light hearted film that'll make you smile and giggle then I'd recommend seeing this.

I loved it
28 April 2007
I think people are exaggerating over the movie being so horrible. I saw previews of this months and months ago and promised myself I'd see it the first night it came out. I was not disappointed! Afte seeing the reviews here on IMDb I was afraid I'd go and be upset, but nope! It was very captivating and a very neat movie. I do think some of the characters were a little bland, but the main ones like Powell and Annie were not. If you already had plans to see this, I would suggest still seeing it in theaters! As the plot goes, Annie is a very evil girl. I can't describe her any better. The previews make you think she is the girlfriend of Powell. In fact, she's the one who just about kills him. The story isn't so much just about Powell, but both him and Annie. He has to try and tell Annie she can still have a chance to do one good thing in her life by telling the police where his body is. If you enjoy movies that are about the boundaries of life and death, then definitely see this. It can be humorous, but it's a suspenseful and even heartbreaking film towards the end. It wasn't what I expected. Yes, some things are obvious and you can figure them out, but overall it was a good film and doesn't deserve all the harsh criticism.

Worst movie ever made....
23 March 2007
Back when this movie was just hitting the theaters, my brother decided he wanted to see it for his birthday. My family was dragged to see it. We thought, well, this is a 3D movie...can't be that bad, right? WRONG. Just because a movie is 3D doesn't mean it is a good one. I sat through the film shaking my head side to side in utter disgrace. I usually look at films from all angles before judging them completely, but there was no other way to look at it. Yes, it has some neat qualities to it, but the storyline was HORRIBLE. The only people who enjoy this will be ten or under and as soon as they hit the age of eleven they will watch this and probably cry at it's stupidity and wonder why they ever liked it to begin with.

Sweetest Book and Movie
23 March 2007
When I first saw this movie several years ago I didn't enjoy it. I had just finished reading the book several days before and some of the storyline was changed. For one, the book is set back in the 60's? (If I am recalling correctly) When I watched this movie again it became an instant favorite. I thought the quality of the filming was not as good as it could have been and it seemed like it was made on a cheap budget. Besides those factors, this movie is a tear dripper and one that makes you want to jump into the screen and hug the characters when they are having hard times. It's unlike other teenage movies and if you are a Nicholas Sparks fan, you know all of his books are unlike any other. This film makes you want to do everything on your "to do" list and to tell everyone you care for that you love them. It proves that you can be the same person as you have always been before, maybe even stronger, when you are faced with a terminal illness.

Cute movie
23 March 2007
When this movie started off, I was bored out of my mind. I disliked it and wished I had not spent my money to see it. However, things do get more interesting. This is a great family film. It's sweet, loving, inspiring, and a load of fun. It is also dramatic and upsetting.

I really enjoyed the actors and actresses chosen for the movie. I believe if any others were chosen, this film would have been a failure by all means. When you are not worrying about the financial needs of the Farmer family, you are laughing at the witty comments of Mr. Farmer and the odds and ends of other characters. This movie pretty much tells you that just about anything is possible if you set your heart and mind to it.

Very Artistic, amazing!
23 March 2007
I found this to be an extraordinary film. Extremely artistic, something to leave me feeling inspired and "wow-ed". I've read people complaining about the movie being awful and I disagree. There are plenty of movies with a better storyline or better actors, but I don't think that was the whole idea of 300. I believe this movie is the key to movie makers to expand their horizons and take that extra step to make a film that blows you away. The CGI was awesome, not necessarily realistic at all times, but it will leave you breathless and staring. I think it was about time that a movie has taken advantage of the technology we are plenty capable of in this generation. Do not come to see this movie expecting the usual sappy or war movie. This movie has a feel between the Matrix, Lord of the Rings, and Gladiator, but don't let that fool you. It has elements from the 3 movies, but it is a movie that stands alone.

An 'adaption' of the book, but very good
26 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
My friend was very upset because the movie doesn't follow the book. So, this is a forewarning...it doesn't. In fact, it even ends differently. Nothing is the same, but don't let that scare you away! I think it was better than the book!

Yet, I like the movie ten times better than the book! It was wonderful, I was entertained the entire time. It wasn't too gruesome, but it did have some creepy scenes as well as sweet ones. I highly suggest seeing it if you like wolves too. They didn't make them into freakish werewolves when they changed. They used real wolves in probably 95 percent of the scenes with wolves in it (hardly any computer generated ones). I like the fact they did this. I also am happy to see that Vivian and Aiden stay together. I was not happy with the way the book ended. I never liked Gabriel in the book. In this one, Vivian and Aiden are fighting to stay alive and together. They are deeply in love with one another. It's a really neat adaption of the book. Please take my advice, see it!

Disappointing, I'd never let a director turn my book into this
4 January 2007
This movie DID NOT follow the book. My first thought as soon as the movie began was..."What is Roran doing going off to war? He's supposed to be trying to marry that girl?" I had thoughts like this through the entire movie. It was extremely rushed. I was fighting to keep up with what was happening, and the book was fresh in my mind. I had just finished the book 2 days before I saw it in theater. If you have read the book and want to see it, I would forewarn you that you will be making remarks through the whole thing. For example: They never do chase the Ra'zac. They go straight to the Varden. Murtagh has a very...very...small...insignificant role. And Brom dies at the wrong time. There is no fight scene outside the waterfall too. Other than the constant things I've found disappointing, I will add that if you haven't seen the book you should enjoy it. When I saw it in theaters, a few people were like, "Wow, this is good. I ought to read the book." I liked the music for the most part. (Enough I bought one of the songs of iTunes) They portrayed Eragon, Saphira, and Brom like I would have imagined. And I can't help, but think that Eragon is the cutest guy for the part. Saphira's graphics were really well done. However, I think I'd have rather seen them work harder on keeping the storyline like it is in the book rather than work on the graphics. I just know if I get a story of mien published, I'd definitely NOT let this director and screenwriter make it. I am a strong believer in following books if you are going to make a movie out of it. The boy who wrote the story spent a lot of hard time on it and in return he gets a movie that doesn't even pay attention to the book.

Stunning and so real
23 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Will Smith and his son did an outstanding job. This movie proved that even in the worse of times...you can move forward. It is the most real to me movie I have seen in many years. There are sections in this movie where all you can do is watch and not think. One particular scene was when Will Smith was in the bathroom with his son because they had no place to stay at night. Will was crying his eyes out and trying to be silent because he wanted to make sure his son could sleep through the night. There is something about a real father and his real son playing the parts. It couldn't have been any other way. Every smile they shared, every kiss, every hug between them reminded me that this is REAL. The story was even real, maybe not theirs, but it was for someone else.

It makes you think...believe...very inspiring and romantic
9 October 2006
This was just as I imagined this movie was going to be. I had high expectations when I saw the previews. I rented and watched it this evening. It brought imagination and reality together in one spot. It has been one of the most entertaining love stories I have seen in a while. If anyone enjoys romantic movies then I would definitely suggest watching this. It was amazing to see Keanu Reeves playing a role I don't think I could ever imagine him playing after the movies he has been in previously. This a film that makes you wonder and dream of what could have happened, what could be, and the forces that stand between people, especially those who are in love.

Pretty Good
7 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this movie was definitely a good one to see in theaters. However, some of it did disappoint me. Usually sequels never live up to the original, but this one got pretty darn close! I liked it, but found myself and entire family getting exhausted during it. It got really slow in some parts.

I love the unexpected twists it gave in this one. But, it almost lost its "pirate" feel. It gained on a scifi feel instead of the pirate one. I felt like I was watching a science fiction flick my dad would go to theaters and watch. It was quite creative, but I think they tried too hard on this movie.

I was really against some of the character's actions. Elizabeth's attempt to chain Jack Sparrow to the Black Pearl and leave him for the Crackin was...in my opinion..SO uncalled for! The nerve of that girl! Then in the end of the movie, they of course brought back Captain Barbosa which seems annoying, but I think the idea is kind of cool besides he gets to eat that apple he was planning on eating when he was shot in the first movie.

Things I liked: The action was unbelievable! The special effects will probably get some sort of award! The costumes, the way all the fish people looked was wonderfully amazing. The characters stayed true to their original personality and some of the old humor was still in this movie.

Dislikes: Jack Sparrow was portrayed more as a dirt-bag than a wild and daring pirate. It was drawn out. There was so much crammed in this moving, it was hard to follow. There was the Commadore who was now a drunk fighting Jack, who was fighting Will, who was fighting Davy Jones and so on. It was like it never would end. Oh, and don't forget the crazy natives that wanted to sacrifice Jack in the beginning and they even managed to jab Will's sad father in who is being slaved by Daby Jones.

Overall, pretty good. same ole characters and enjoyable, but a sequel is a sequel and nothing seems to ever live up to the first (but like I mentioned, this one got AWFULLY close)

Wonderful...brings magic to the soul
17 May 2006
I doubted this movie from the beginning. I couldn't see how they could make this small little book into something amazing, but they did it! I had fluttering in my stomach watching it on the big screen. Little Lucy's expression was charming and Edmund was very believable. I could see a little bit of everyone's naughty little brother in Edmund. The Narnia world was overwhelming and all I could do is wish I lived there. I really appreciated that the movie stayed along the "Christian" lines too. The lion was so real and majestic. Even I felt a tingling of fear at the first sight of him. Even so, it was as if he were a best friend forever once he spoke and you wanted to just jump into the screen and hug his furry mane.

Number one on my favorite movie list
17 May 2006
I can't remember a time I have teared up as bad as I did with Tristan and Isolde. I saw this with a couple friends and even a guy friend was taken over by this movie. The picture was excellent and the love between Tristan and Isolde pretty much proved that love can't be undone. I will never...ever forget this movie. Scenes that are instilled in my head include the field scene where the grass was so tall and wavy, and the times Isolde read to Tristan. It was all Romeo and Juliet times ten. If anyone can make a movie with love stronger than this one I will be truly amazed. I seriously think this one won't be beat.

Good love story
17 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was really good, but I doubt many guys will ever sit down and watch it. I believe it really is a matter of opinion and my opinion would be...see it! I cried through parts of it. It is by far one of my favorites when it comes to love stories. One reason why is because it is believable versus other ones I have seen in the past. The filmography was really good. I was taken in from the beginning because of it. Sam in the beginning was destroying items from his previous marriage. The way the camera focused in on those things was great. This movie was shown on Lifetime and it out-rates any Lifetime movie I have ever watched. It contained twists that worry you, but in the end you can't help, but be overwhelmed with joy to find out the true answer.
