Love, Simon (2018)
Cute, but very cheesy
I understand that diversity is very important, and as a lesbian, I was very excited to see this movie. I thought is was cute, but nothing special, and unrealistic. At the end, Simon and Blue are on the ferris wheel, and everyone starts cheering for them. That is not an accurate depiction of how teenagers act, 90% percent of them wouldn't be invested in what this theater kid was doing, no matter how cute it made the big moment. I think I would've enjoyed this movie if I liked rom-coms, but this is not the type of movie I typically like. So basically, this is a sweet movie if you are into cheesy films, which honestly, I completely get if you do, but it's not for me.
Over the Garden Wall (2014)
Magical
This show is absolutely beautiful. I've watched it every year since it came out, and I never get sick of it. The setting of The Unknown is beautiful and exciting, foreign, yet familiar. This show has many dark and genuinely creepy moments, but it is balanced out with laughs and goofy jokes by Greg. The music is so well done as well, setting the tone of the scene. Over The Garden Wall is short, but that makes it better. The writers got across what was intended, and it didn't need to be any longer than it was. This is a must watch for anyone who likes cartoons.
The Shining (1980)
Great
This movie is masterfully done. It is unnerving from the very start, before they even get to the Overlook. The acting, particularly Jack Nicholson's performance, was amazing. While it isn't the scariest thing I've seen, the tension and unease is what makes it great. Overall, I would highly recommend this classic horror film.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
