The Great Gatsby (2013)
It was simply alright
The soundtrack was questionable...I found it very weird and inappropriate in terms of setting when they blasted Kanye Wests hip hop songs. Hip hop wasn't even popular in the twenties and not even sure it existed so it felt very off. The book is better, I was kind of bored throughout it and I usually never get bored at things. It was still ok and obviously i had to give a good rating because leo was in it haha his acting is superb as usual. The acting was from everybody was good. the setting looked too fake and I appreciate how similar it was to the book in terms of lines and pretty much how the story went. Overall it was alright.
I Am Not Okay with This (2020)
the ending was terrible
I think this show had a lot of potential but completely ruined it at the end! The acting, filming, etc was pretty decent and I loved the instrumental but really nothing happened in the whole show. I got a couple of laughs into it but other than that it really isn't THAT interesting. LETS TALK ABOUT THE ENDING...i'm sorry why did they make that guy EXPLODE! that was so dumb and it felt like i was watching a tacky horror movie with an extremely low budget. I was so mad at how that happened, it's so dumb! Also like the ghost or whatever at the end was pretty stupid as well , i can't really explain why but- also i should mention how unoriginal the show is in general. In conclusion, I don't recommend watching it
Gisaengchung (2019)
A perfect balance with an amazing message
I have never seen a movie with such balance of genres, it went from a drama to romance to horror and almost a bit of every genre! i absolutely love how they slowly incorporated every family member into the rich family and just the whole storyline is pleasing and connects amazingly well. the instrumental played a huge role in its suspense and i loved it! i was constantly on the edge of my seat as the suspense was so perfect. The fact that Mr. Kim killed Mr. Park really explains the type of people Mr. Parks family were. In a dire situation, Mr. Park shut his nose because of the smell of Mr. Kim, this truly made a realization to Mr. Kim of the type of people they are. The clash of rich and poor, this clearly set Mr. Kim off, to kill him. I like the message at the end, it's very realistic. The son dreamt of buying the house to save his father, and it all would have been a happily ever after. But no, it is sadly a realistic and actual outcome of what the movie should've been. I respect it! Overall i am proud of this movies success and would watch it all over again and would still be surprised and struck by it.
Swiped (2018)
I have no words
Ok i wrote a review a while ago but it's not here anymore so i'm gonna write it again. It's been a couple of months after I've watched this and honestly i don't think i will ever get the 1 hour and 33 min of my time wasted watching this horrendous movie back! LIKE it's been 6 MONTHS and I am STILL thinking about how TERRIBLE this movie is. Here are some reasons as to why, the acting my god, I mean I- like- it's just so bad. nothing else needs to be said. also the storyline? like what even is it? and there's so many stereotypes and just the entire movie is of noah centenio and his gang talking about women in such disgusting ways. Also THE FILMING HAGAGWGSG somebody literally filmed this on a samsung refrigerator and used a mic from the DOLLAR STORE. Typing this is giving me stress so i think i'm gonna end it, probably nobody will see this but it was quite fun writing, thank you!
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)
The whole movie is "eh"
I feel like this movie and the first one has no like "spark" or excitement, like it's just so...bland i want to say? Personally, I don't like teen-rom com movies as it sets unrealistic expectations of "teen love" that girls believe actually believe (which is sad)! I'm sorry but the only reason people watch this is because of the "cute" relationship with LJ and Peter, and the whole thing girls have with Peter. But there is a very small amount of Peter Kavinsky's in the world, i think these-types movies make young girls self -conscience and naive. By the end of the movie there was no "gain" in anything like it all just restarted to how it used to be because LJ doubted herself. I don't think this movie was necessary as the characters barely changed. There's so many unresolved questions too, like what happened with LJ's dad and the neighbour? what happened with LJ and Jen? I'm not sure how I feel about this movie, tbh I really like the aesthetic of the clothing and furniture in the movie lol!
Tall Girl (2019)
ending was trash
Some parts were really awkward like when all 3 couples were kissing in the same room like wtf. also jodi shouldn't have ended up w jack (dunkleman) bc they were rlly different and it was so forced, he was clearly obsessed w her and she never cared for him, unlike LIZ who was a perfect match for him smh. stig also apologized at the end so jodi should've forgiven him and end up w him. to sum up jack and jodi is a terrible ship and the writers clearly made a huge mistake. but for the message that this movie is trying to give it would make sense that jodi and jack would end up together because he was short and she was tall etc etc. even though they're not a good couple.
