Cinderella in the Caribbean (2023)
Don't even waste your time by watching ANY of this movie
Just the usual rubbish from Brian Brough and Brittany Wiscombe. She writes them poorly and he directs them stiffly. Most of the plots are extremely predictable and the actors show no great range. The stereotypes of evil stepmother (here) or evil aunt in "Not Cinderella's Type". These characters are so poorly acted, directed, and definitely not worth your time.
This movie has "Cinderella" as the poor hardworking stepchild of the evil step mommy. Cinderella is "praised" for all her hard work at school, her student teaching, and work, but evil step mommy wants her to drop everything to come to the Caribbean for evil mommy's new wedding to a rich dude. Cinderella is basically used as a work horse for the wedding, not allowed to be a bridesmaid, the evil step sister gets to do that. The evil gambling step brother is supposed to walk evil mommy down the aisle. Cinderella isn't even allow to each with the evil family or the new bridegroom's family because she's supposed to do stuff. She's left a plate of food on her bed with flies all over it. I think the flies are truly a metaphor for the piece of flushable material that this movie is.
I had to turn the movie off only because I was so tired of watching a spineless wanna-be Cinderella never standing up for herself. Even Disney's Cinderella had some spunk when dealing with her stepsisters.
I never developed any empathy for Cinderella or her love instead of her future stepmommy's new husband's daughter. It seems like the movie is trying to be a rehash of a more popular movie by this director and writer "Not Cinderella's Type". That movie too had stiff acting where you never felt any sympathy for any of the characters. In that movie, I felt more sadness in the killing of that Cinderella's cat (killed in the first 6 minutes of the movie) killed by the Prince Charming. Trust me, it was a creepy relationship in that movie.
Well in this move, I felt relief at turning the movie off, feeling like I escaped a form of torture. Do yourself a favor and don't watch this drivel.
A Royal Christmas Ball (2017)
This movie is even worse than you or I thought
Yes, Tara Reid is so bad in the movie. You can't garner any sympathy for her character of all. She's supposed to be a professional architect yet her office doesn't show any hint of it. All I could think of besides her bad acting, which breast was messed up from all her bad plastic surgery. If you're thinking this, you know her acting is so awful.
She and her baby daddy both have blue or grey eyes, "daughter" Lily has brown eyes. Is she really his daughter?
So if the king is a king? Why is he staying in a non-royal or presidential suite? Why does he only have 2 personal guards who can't even keep up with him driving around LA?
So you if have 1.5 hours to waste, don't waste your time watching this? If you want to waste your time laughing at bad movies about Christmas, try the God-awful Kirk Cameron saves Christmas.
Snapshot of Love (2022)
Pretty painful to watch at times
This movie was playing on the Tubi streaming service. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.
The acting is very stinted especially with the minor characters like the newscasters and the boss at the talent agency. I'm so ready to shut off the movie, but I am in the mood for a mindless romance movie. This definitely meets that requirement. The two leads were cute together but rather boring around them.
She's a photographer? All the pictures taken in Hollywood are digital but her visit "home" are film. I've been a photographer, who does film cameras these days?
It's just as predictable as the usual Brian Brough and Brittany Wiscombe usual bland movies.
Civil Love (2012)
It's is a bad as others say watch cars rust
I gave this movie a 2 because of the beautiful Utah mountain scenery in the background. The plot is supposed to take place on the east coast during the Civil War. The costumes are done so poorly, it's some college student's version of what someone would wear in the 1860s. The costumes look like left overs from other LDS movies. I had to laugh at the use of the "This is the Place" park for town scenes. The street lights in the background are electrified lanterns sitting on poles.
The lead actress Elise Groves seems to be only a few years older than the girl playing the daughter Abigail. The movie is full of such inconsistencies.
The acting is stiff except for the kids.
A Picture Perfect Wedding (2021)
it had so much potential
This movie could have been a fun, cute film to watch. It ended up being painful to watch. The actors were stiff, and no one ever touched each other except the main couple at the end. Even the wedding couple never touched each other until they did a photo of them holding hands once but even after that they never touched.
The so-called villain, The wedding planner, seem to soften up a little bit but you really didn't care if she got nice or not. The movie was boring by the time she did and as of here you didn't really care.
The only beautiful part of the movie was the house where they filmed the wedding. The photography and gardens were beautiful.
Christmas with You (2022)
So far the best Christmas movie of 2022 for us Romcom fans
I just finished the movie. It was fun, charming, great music, humorous and so much more. The music was fun and catchy. I found myself singing it for a while after the movie ended. I already want to play it again. That's something I don't do that often.
Aimee Garcia, whom I loved in Lucifer is fabulous in this. I didn't know she could see as well as she did here. Seeing Freddie Prinze Jr was nice though he looks so different. The girl playing the daughter Cristina as touching and funny. Zenzi Williams as the friend Monique was a more rounded out figure than you see on most Christmas romance movies. Oh the dress Monique wore to the gala was so beautiful, I want one!
Watch the movie, relax and enjoy the ride, I did!
Christmas Child (2004)
I've seen better, there wasn't any warm charm about the movie
I just finished this movie on Hulu. Yes, it's about a Chicago reporter having a bad time, even his pregnant wife is keeping potentially happy news from him. The movie starts off with the evils of the big city, where even the Christmas music is about a man wanting remain warm with his babe to a singer wanting nothing but money for Xmas.
The reporter returns to the small town in Texas where he was born. It's got your token jolly fat person (Vanessa) to the moody Sheriff out for our unemotional hero. By the time the movie ends, you really don't emphasize with any of the characters at all. There's no hint on why the Judge.hit the seal adoption records to begin with? You get a 5-second spot when the Judge brings Jack to his birth mother's grave, but the scene does absolutely nothing about helping the view feel that special moment when he sees his mother's grave for the first time.
I come from a family full of adoptees and I know the personal journey of wanting to find birth family or not. One birth was teenaged parents who had a child in the middle of the depression, to another where the older guy lied to the young woman that he was divorced but he wasn't. She had to leave her home to hide somewhere to give birth. I had stood at the headstone of my birth grandmother, next to her brother and her parents, feeling a rush of joy and sadness at finding her and where she rests now. The movie didn't even touch on that strong emotion that could have helped give the film more emotional range and really could have touched the viewers' hearts in so many ways.
The movie got 4 stars because of the music and the good performances of Naomi and the Preacher. The rest was as wooden as the nativity scene that was supposed to be a major plot point.
Oh on Hulu, be careful, the next movie the program wanted to play was "Kirk Cameron Saves Christmas". I've seen that one do, DO NOT WASTE your valuable time with one at all.
The Enchanted Christmas Cake (2021)
had potential but the hairstylist should have been fired
This is playing on Netflix right now. It's kind of cute but is just the usual formula. The hair is so bad. I'm glad I'm not the only person that noticed that. It seems like the hair stylist got one color of highlights and used it on the actors that played Gwen Gavin and her mother. The only person that decent hair was the actress that played her friend Becky. The hair of Gwen looks like it was fried when it got its highlights. Even her Grandpa had bad hair when his bangs were combed over his bald spot. Combed into a v pointing down to his nose. Let's not say anything about the toupee the character Dante had. Best way to enjoy the movie, is to close your eyes and not have to look at the hair.
A Cinderella Christmas (2016)
A charming Christmas movie, usual predictiable plot but still so charming
This is a very charming Christmas movie that I discovered on the Tubi streaming app. Both leads have good chemistry and it help makes watching this movie fun. The wicked cousin "Candace" is the usual stereotype of shallow blonde but Angie the lead makes up for it. Her Uncle Otto should have had more of a clue his daughter is useless to the point that the staff of the family event planning company want to have a "No more working with Candace" party.
Mindy Cohn of "Facts of Life" fame is charming as the fairy Godmother.
My only confusing part, it is supposed to take place in a warm place like California or a cold play like Ontario where it was filmed?
The movie is so charming that when I'm in the mood for a fun christmas movie, this is what I seek out.
Mount Hideaway (2017)
This is so bad, was hopeful since it was filmed in VA
I had high hopes for this since it was filmed in Virginia where I grew up. This is so bad, the acting is bad, the filming is so bad, and even the editing is so bad. It showed up on Tubi which plays a good amount of religious created movies. I've seen a lot of LDS-produced movies show up that are way better than this movie.
The actress playing Bethany is supposed to be a world-weary top secret handler. She barely looks old enough to be out of high school. The female playing the Dr Amy looks even younger and a medical doctor even if a vet is most likely late 20s. The best actor so far is the guy who played the Stephens Mill town mayor. The plots holes are so obvious, you know immediately that the mayor's handler Karl is a bad guy. The The stereotypes are so bad, too. The real estate man's ex wife, the real estate man himself with his beer belly and drinking alcohol, you know he's definitely going to die.
The editing is so bad, like the "car" that was in the river at the beginning. It's such an obviously post-production add on. The car was in sharp focus where as the rest of the scene was not. Sheriff Foreman and his deputy had obviously fake badges and even the patches on the left arm are barely tacked on. A lot of the film has the bad of the head as the camera is watching someone talking. It's done so often it's annoying.
The movie finally ended and like another review said, it left the viewer going "Huh?" Well that's 2 hours I can't get back. I really did have high hopes for it.
I understand that some Christians are so desperate for movies to share with their families but at least select something that well done, don't be so desperate for something like this. This movie isn't as awful as "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas" at least this movie tried.
It's sad when the hedgehog is the best part of the movie.
Saving Christmas (2014)
Proably the worst Christmas ever
People actually paid to see this waste of 1 hour 19 minutes. I saw it free on Youtube and had to fast forward thru parts before i lost my dinner.
I've tried to view Kirk Cameron's movies to give it the benefit of a doubt. In this movie, don't doubt people's words, it is a really bad bad movie, Not one bad enough to be campy either.
I once got to see a private showing of a Christmas movie in progress. That was just as bad of this movie and trust me, that other was really really awful.
I couldn't talk you which of these two films were the worst Christmas movie, but if IMDB had a zero rating, I would have given it for this movie.
Overboard (2018)
It may be a remake but the film is charming in it's own special way
Like others, the original movie of Overboard was one of my favorites.
I saw this movie in the theater and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, it's not like the remake but the film has a certain sweet charm of its own caliber.
One of the most delightful parts of the movie is the male lead...Eugenio Derbez. I hadn't heard of him myself, but I look forward to seeing him in more shows. He was the most charming part of the film. I've enjoyed Anna Faris in several movies, but Eugenio Derbez is the one who shines in this film. I watched the film for the 4th time last night on Hulu and I cried again when Leo the male lead leaves the family.
It's a feel good movie to watch when you need something to make you smile. Keep an eye out for it and enjoy it for the charming film that it is.
Tiny House Hunting: San Diego's Tiny Craftsmen (2015)
OMG How much of a dumb blonde can a female be?
I started out watching this episode while binge watching the series that I have enjoyed. However when this blonde Navy wife shows up, I'm yelling at the screen, "Grow a brain!" It was so bad I had to shut the tv off. I resumed the episode 2 weeks later and still found myself still yelling at the tv, "If you don't like the carpets, just replace it and stop whining!"
I was so glad the episode finished, however I regret the 25 minutes of my life I wasted listening to her whining and insipid comments.
