The Bear (2022)
Overrated and Hyped
An absolutely overrated and hyped show. Anoying characters, shouting the whole time at each other, without any story behind. Neither funny, nor exciting. Yes, they successfully create an atmosphere of stress, maybe it's like that in a restaurant kitchen. But if the only purpose of a show is to show stress in kitchen - that's by far not enough. There's not a single charakter to relate to. I was really happy, when I finished season one, and I'll for sure not watch season 2. So do not follow the hype and spend your time better - maybe some nice cooking for a diner in the evening. But do not waste your time with this show.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
More disappointing or more annoying?
Really sad to see this series, that I've been really looking forward to. Bad writing, extremely inconsistant story, many of the actors are just doing a bad job. No one to relate to, you just start to be bored or to be annoyed by every character after the first hour. The harfoots are an evil bunch of people, leaving the injured ones behind, the elves are not admirable at all. Every development is so easily foreseeable, as well as who's gonna die and who not. You are just waiting for Sauron to come and end it all. The absolute highlight is Galadriel in slow-motion on her horse, which you can see once per episode and you can already predict, when this is going to happen. I thought scenes like this would have been last shown in the 80s, but looks like they happily rise from the dead in this series.
Der junge Häuptling Winnetou (2022)
Again a ridiculous movie from German producers
I am really sorry to say that as a German, but the German movie industry is further on its way to make ridiculous, infantil movies only. It is NOT funny to wear ridiculous closes in a movie. It is NOT funny to speak in a silly way in a movie. It is NOT funny to have a ridicolous haircut in a movie. It is neither funny nor helpful to exaggerate all acting, as there were only completely stupid people in the audience. German film industry considers its audience as infantil and too stupid to understand even easiest plots. They consider children not to be able to watch an at least little bit demanding movie. I feel mocked by these directors, producers and actors.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Back to the 2000's...
Extremely conventional and already today outdated crime series... Could also be from the 2000's. Boring characters, boring story, zero creativity. Did the authors ever watch Sopranos, Breaking Bad or Fargo? Update: after four episodes I gave up watching. Was only missing the: "oh, the picture is too blurry from 3 km distance video shot - wait, no problem, I can zoom in with my high tech computer technology!" dialogue. But maybe this comes in the later episodes.
Toy Story (1995)
Outdated and boring
Movie is completely outdated and boring. Animation was state of the art 30 years ago. Nearly no story. Stereotypes where ever you look at, the ugly poor boy is the bad boy. In the first place I did not want to watch it because of the awful merchandising, but after having seen it, I know now, that the movie is not better than this.
Pets United (2019)
My 8 year old daughter rates this movie with 8...
My 8 year old daughter rates this movie with 7. She only disliked the dog's barking. And the pig was too fat. And the man was too scary. But she liked the story. Me as the old father hated it, let's say 2 of 10, as there was no story at all. But to be honest, I could only stand to watch for 20 minutes. But eh: the film wasn't made for old people ;)
Soul (2020)
No Kids Movie
No chance for kids to understand this movie. I liked the idea very much and it could have been a great movie to connect children to music, but this whole thing about being in heaven or wherever was just much too long and boring. I guess the movie was more fun for the film makers than for the audience.
Bibi & Tina (2014)
Imagine the most undemanding viewer...
German film schools seem to teach one thing: imagine the most undemanding viewer, take virtually 50 % of its brain away and then make a movie for him. I cannot stand these stupid movies anymore, made in my country. And this is one of them.
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
A great first season, but now let it rest in peace
Such a great first season - simply 10 of 10. But at least the last two seasons are just missing any logic, the series only exists for itself, without any real development. There's no character left to relate to. The whole state seems to move around one woman - how many people live there? A hundred? Really sad to see the series (not) ending like this...
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Ok for kids, but missing story
The film is ok - not more, not less. It nearly has no story, but is well animated and provides a few good laughs. But far from being a great kids movie.
Inside Job (2021)
Funny as the less good Simpsons episodes
Idea is basically great, but implementation mediocre. Humor is not as good as in The Simpsons, lots of the jokes can be easily predicted. Lost chance, only on level with the not so good Simpsons episodes.
Designated Survivor (2016)
Could not believe this is only 5 years old
When we started watching, I could not believe this show is only five years old. The setup, the plot and appearance is already so outdated - could also have been a show from the mid 2000s. All figures serve every cliche you could imagine, the next step is already clear 5 minutes before. True American Hero President meets bad General meets smart FBI detective meets drugs selling son meets beautiful wife meets ... After two boring and somehow not even anoying, but very disappointing periods we stopped watching. Maybe there is goong to be more creativity later on - unfortunately too late for us.
Exit (2019)
Looking for stupid cliches about rich business men?
Looking for stupid cliches about rich business men? Then you are at the right show! The whole plot is so unrealistic, that they have to mention several times at the beginning, that the show is "based on" real interviews - whatever that means. The acting and setting is that exaggerated, that I lost interest after 10 minutes and stopped watching after period 1.
The White Tiger (2021)
Even with a good rating underrated
Was wondering, why this title is relatively low rated for such a good movie. If you have a look at the reviews, you will find many who understand the movie as negative against india and therefore rated by one star. Guys, it's a movie. And even not a completely unrealistic one, if you've been there and saw, how people are living and being treated there. If all Americans or Europeans would rate movies negatively, that critizize their countries or culture, we would only have low rated movies - or no social critics in films anymore. The film is really great, and I can only recommend it to everyone, who loves movies that are not the usual junk.
Lupin (2021)
If you are below 13 years old...
If you are below 13 years old, this might be somehow impressing. Otherwise: stay away from this, nothing for grown ups.
