TaleSpin (1990–1991)

Spin It
17 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
In the year 1990, the world of Disney TV cartoons was certainly at it's prime. Shows like Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, DuckTales and Gummi Bears was already popular, and now Disney made another great cartoon and that cartoon brought the birth of the Disney Afternoon. That cartoon is called TaleSpin. It's about old Jungle Book character Baloo the Bear as he gets a job in the plane business. In the series he meets Kit Cloudkicker, former Air Pirate and good cloud surfer, business lady Rebecca Cunningham and her hyperactive daughter Molly. This series is very funny and has tons of great puns that you may not understand as a kid but understand later on in life. This is one cleverly written series and it's great to add to your DVD collection. Parents, buy this for your kids rather letting them watch all of those horrible Nickelodeon cartoons. If you liked TaleSpin, then check out "Darkwing Duck" and "Goof Troop". Spin it!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chip n Dale, Rescue Rangers
14 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Disney TV cartoon business was definitely going good in the late 80s into the 90s. With successful Disney TV cartoons such as DuckTales, Gummi Bears and New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh already pleasing kids, adults and animation fans, Disney made another series to add on to that list and that series is called Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers or CDRR for short. This is the fourth series in the Golden Era of Disney TV cartoons. In this series, it's about the popular Disney chipmunks Chip n Dale and their friends Gadget Hackwrench, Monterey Jack and Zipper the fly as they solve little cases and meet new people. Chip n Dale have both developed personalities in CDRR unlike the shorts which all they did was pester Donald. This show is definitely funny and clever. I recommend that you check out this show if you haven't already. Buy the DVD box sets today, this show is way better than any of the cartoons on Nickelodeon and CN today. If you like this show, check out later Golden Era Disney TV cartoons like "Darkwing Duck", "Goof Troop" or "TaleSpin". Rescue Rangers away!

Quack Pack (1996–1997)
3/10
Mediocre
7 January 2007
The Golden Era of Disney cartoons was dying by the time the end of the 90s. This show Quack Pack shouldn't even be considered a DuckTales spin off because the show barely had anything to do with DuckTales. It's about a teen-aged Huey, Dewey and Louie as they make trouble for their uncle Donald and talk in hip-hop lingo and they are fully dressed unlike in DuckTales. I prefer the little adventurous nephews from DuckTales. There are humans in Duckburg and the ducks are the only animals living in Duckburg. There's no references of Scrooge McDuck. The stories are repetitive, the plot is boring but the animation is good. If you want lots of slapstick humor, I recommend this to you. If you want a better Disney show watch "Darkwing Duck" or "DuckTales".

The Cartoon That Saved Weekday Afternoons
6 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Remember the state of weekday afternoon cartoons circa early-mid 80s, companies was mostly producing cartoons based off of toys during that time period. In 1987 Disney produced a series that forever changed the state of weekday afternoon cartoons. That cartoon series is called DuckTales, one of the greatest cartoons of all time in my book. DuckTales is one of the few 80s cartoons that wasn't based off a toy line/video game/comic book. This cartoon tells the adventures of Scrooge McDuck, his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, pilot Launchpad McQuack amongst others. The show first began on 9/11/87 with the 2 hour pilot "Treasure of the Golden Suns" on NBC's prime time time slot and later began regular broadcasting the following week. DuckTales is about a rich geezer duck who wants to keep adding to his fortunes and he and his nephews (and in some cases Webby) goes on treasure hunts and Indiana Jones like adventures. The second season introduces Bubba the Caveduck, Fenton Crackshell aka Gizmo Duck, Mama Crackshell, Gandra Dee and tons of others. Some of the new characters (Bubba and Gizmo Duck in particular)were frequently criticized by some DuckTales fans for changing the show. I for one disagree. I think the show was the same as it was during the first 65 episodes. In 1990, Disney made a movie based off the series called DuckTales, Treasure of the Lost Lamp. In 1991, Disney made a spin off to the show, Darkwing Duck. Five years after Darkwing Duck was made the prequel to DuckTales was made and it was not successful nor good like the other two shows. The prequel was Quack Pack. DuckTales have great writing, great animation and cool story lines. This was the best of the Golden Era Disney TV cartoons (including Gummi Bears, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck and others) Parents, definitely buy the 2 DVD box sets for your kids, this show is way better than any of the shows on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network nowadays. If you like DuckTales, check out other Golden Era shows like TaleSpin and Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. DuckTales rocks!

One of the Few Saturday Morning Cartoons Worth Watching
5 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Remember Saturday Morning cartoons? That's the time slot where mostly forgettable cartoons aired. There are some gems though and this show "Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears" is one of those gems. This show is better than the usual Saturday Morning mundane cartoon fare.(most Saturday Morning cartoons back in the late 60s and 70s have limited animation, forgettable characters and repetitive plots and story lines). The animation is different than the usual Saturday Morning cartoon fare of the time, the stories are wonderful and the characters are lovable and complex unlike most other Saturday Morning cartoons during it's time. The characters live in Gummi Glen in a tree in a forest. The Gummies go on tons of adventures and they drink Gummi Berri Juice and that's what makes them bounce and it makes the humans super(temporarily). This show paved way for later Disney Golden Era classics such as DuckTales, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers and so many others. It's sad that Disney is making lame cartoons nowadays and not ones like this one. I definitely recommend checking this show out. It made Saturday Mornings more fun and parents, buy the DVD box set for your kids, they will love the show. If you like this show, check out other Disney Golden Era TV cartoons such as DuckTales or TaleSpin.

Bad Dog (1998–2000)
Worst Cartoon EVER!
14 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst cartoons of the 90s. The animation look like if it was done in the 70s, the characters act ridiculous and the plot is exactly the same. Okay, every time the family gets into a situation, Berkeley, the dog, messes everything up. Then someone in the family calls him a bad dog. Then Berkeley faints and if he does something good, he gets called a "Good dog". It's like this every episode! This cartoon makes Hanna-Barbera's cartoons from the 70s look like masterpieces. This show is too repetitive. I'm glad they took this junk off the air. If you want a good cartoon that is actually about something, I recommend "DuckTales" or "Gummi Bears" not this! No stars!
