Mother of the Bride (2024)
Netflix should stop giving away plot points
My wife, the Rom Com fan of the family, rates this a seven. I turned the movie on before she could see that Netflix spoils one of the main surprises of the early part of the film in the recap of the movie when you queue it up. They could just say, "but things get complicated when the father of the groom shows up", but instead they give the whole thing away.
It was a pleasant plot turn for my wife because she didn't know it was coming. There's a lesson here that Netflix and Prime and others just don't seem to understand. Plot twists don't work if you tell us about them ahead of time.
We liked the characters, the setting, and it was an easy watch on a Sunday evening.
The Bricklayer (2023)
For those who like this kind of movie...
...this is the kind of movie you will like. I'm not sure why all the bad reviews. There's good action and Aaron Eckhart does his usual good job. The bad guys are bad, the good guys and ladies are good, and the International scenery plays out very well.
I like the interplay between Eckhart's character and the two female leads. It was different between each one and added to the plot.
As someone with some martial arts training, I can tell you the fight sequences are well staged, although I must say that the characters can really take a punch. There are some pretty hard hits in there that would have laid me out most days.
A good movie to watch while you are on the treadmill!
