Dance Academy (2010)
Finally a good show for teenagers
Looking at a lot of trashy shows such as Big Time Rush, H2O: Just add Water, you name it, this one really stands out.
The characters have stories and they develop, they are growing mature and there are to some extend conflicts which are rarely seen in shows for kids and teenagers -- for instance when characters are homosexual. The latter, which is another very good thing, is dealt with in an absolutely natural eat. No over dramatization.
I also like that, even though there is a leading part and kind of narrator, different episodes focus on different characters to a major extend.
What makes me not voting 10 stars is, that real life is often really disastrous and devastating -- something missing in the show.
Big Time Rush (2009)
Hard to create something worse
OMG, I cannot even express how embarrassing this show is. Stupid, mortifying characters and scripting. I guess it is supposed to address teens around 10 to 14 (or 16 considering it is a boy band) -- but how can anyone that age enjoy this nonsense? Or anyone any age. A boy band of age what, 18, 21 in average (?) acting like five year olds !? made me to watch :-) )
Evey nanosecond spend on this makes me suffer from. I guess marketing, making money, promoting the band and all that is far more important nowadays than producing good shows.
Why does Nicelodeon not try something deeper? Children CAN and DO enjoy that, there is no need for reducing shows to shallow ones. Josh and Drake had some really god stories. That should be the direction...
The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007)
Insult to the book
Wow, this film just insult the book and completely just devastates everything that can be "corrupted". Characters, setting, story in big parts, you name it. A disaster. I do not wanna focus on the details, but give some reasons for my vote:
Main setting: Current time, different location and in line with this the characters do no match those in the book at all. A love story? Merryman some kinda straight man without any depth? The deep connection amongst the siblings missing? The gripping atmosphere that in big parts is a result of the setting (location and time) gone. The list continues...
JUST DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE! Go for the book and read all five of them to REALLY experience Cooper's depth and story.
