Elden Ring (2022 Video Game)
9/10
As someone who's never played a Souls game, there's only one flaw I can think of
6 March 2022
I know the massive appeal for Souls games is their complexity, and I even understand why people enjoy this. I'll be honest, for me, it's mostly the same. I love that I actually have to work at getting better at the game and learning a boss's moves instead of just spamming them to death, but there's one thing I don't love. It's what made me rate it with a 9 instead of a 10.

I don't like how there's no quest log. You basically just have to either memorize every encounter with a questgiver, or do the quest immediately and even then, you still have to pay very close attention to know what to do. This is something I could've done without. I understand the mindset of Souls fans. I know people love this, but as someone who's new to FromSoftware games, it's a bit annoying.

I think they've done a really good job at welcoming newcomers to the SoulsBorne games with Elden Ring, but what would have made it perfect is to give us an option to toggle objectives and quest logs on or off. That way, the Souls fanbase would be pleased as well as the newcomers like me, who want to complete everything. This map and game is huge and overwhelming enough without constantly having to look things up on my phone.

That's really the only problem I have with the game though. The combat, the aesthetic, the music, world/boss design and weapon/gear design are all top notch. This game is definitely going to be a GOTY contender!

Squid Game: Kkanbu (2021)
Season 1, Episode 6
10/10
Uniquely disturbing
19 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The games they play in this show are all children's games. They aren't supposed to be this intense but for some reason, they made half an episode of just sitting in a room, playing with marbles, the most intense thing ever. Excellent writing, set pieces, color pallet, acting and music. Of course I was hit by Player 001's death but what caught me off guard was how sad the girl's (forgot her name) death was.

Fate: The Winx Saga (2021–2022)
8/10
Not Winx Club but definitely good!
4 February 2021
They honestly should've called this something else. It's been atleast 15 to 20 years since I've seen Winx Club but from what I remember, this is nothing like that show. I think the only similarities are some of the names and locations. I believe they didn't even include all the fairies from the Winx and the characters they did include are completely different. That's okay though, I really like the darker approach they took.

There's swearing, gore, sex, drinking and smoking weed. Its target audience is definitely a more mature one and I'm thankful for that.

The last episode ended on a massive cliffhanger and actually managed to drop my jaw at a certain point and it remained open for a few minutes, until the episode was done (those who have seen the finale, you know what I mean).

Now, make no mistake though. It wasn't perfect. In the first 5 minutes of the first episode, they actually used the term "mansplaining". Even though it was used jokingly, it's still kinda annoying, just like some of the typical teenage drama stories and the fact that it's yet another cast of people in their mid 20's that play 16/17 year old teenagers.

CONCLUSION:

If you're looking for a live-action clone of the original "Winx Club", this show will disappoint you. If you're open for something different and more mature, give the show a shot! Just be prepared for the teenage drama. It's not overpowering the story and actually, dare I say, adds depth to the story.

Brightburn (2019)

Horrible, predictable and boring!
4 December 2019
I watched the movie with 4 friends. We were all just dragging our feet across the finish line, hoping all movie long that it would get better, but it just never did. The plot was predictable and boring, and if this is considered as "scary" than I don't know what scary is anymore because it was a snore fest. I didn't get scared a single time. Within 20 minutes, we predicted how it would end, and we were right. This movie left a sour taste in our mouth and I will try my hardest to forget it even exists. Honestly one of the worst movie I've ever seen. Very happy we didn't watch it in the theater.
