Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000–2024)
9/10
Love it!
18 May 2024
Not everyone gets it but if you do you love it!

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" is a masterclass in comedic discomfort. Larry David's portrayal of himself-a neurotic, socially inept, yet oddly relatable character-is both hilarious and cringeworthy. The show's strength lies in its improvisational nature, allowing for authentic, spontaneous interactions that elevate the humor.

The series brilliantly satirizes everyday situations, exposing the absurdities of social norms and human behavior. Each episode is a carefully constructed web of misunderstandings and miscommunications, leading to a satisfying, often surprising resolution. The recurring themes and running gags add layers of depth and continuity, rewarding long-time viewers.

Guest stars and cameos are another highlight, with a revolving door of celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves, adding to the show's meta-humor. The supporting cast, including Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, and Susie Essman, delivers standout performances that complement David's lead.

One of the show's few drawbacks is its niche appeal; the humor might not resonate with everyone, especially those who are uncomfortable with cringe comedy. Additionally, some might find the character of Larry David difficult to root for due to his often abrasive and self-centered nature.

Overall, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is a brilliant and unique comedy that stands out in the television landscape. Its clever writing, exceptional performances, and fearless exploration of social taboos make it a must-watch for fans of smart, character-driven humor.

Nothing better than Zombies and Music...
5 April 2024
"Festival of the Living Dead" serves as a spiritual sequel to the iconic "Night of the Living Dead," paying homage to the horror classic with subtle nods and references woven throughout the film.

From the chilling atmosphere to the meticulously crafted suspense sequences, the Soska Sisters demonstrate their directing prowess behind the camera.

With each scene unraveling , the undead start to come alive. "Festival of the Living Dead" doesn't shy away from delivering great music, and some really gruesome and inventive kills, showcasing some creativity.

Subtle callbacks serve as a loving tribute to the groundbreaking work of George A. Romero while also adding depth and richness to the world crafted by the Soska Sisters of their own modern feel. It's a fun movie and a must watch for horror fans.

The Idolmaker (1980)
7/10
Solid Film
20 August 2023
"The Idolmaker" (1980) is a hidden gem coming out at the beginning of the '80s that captivates with its portrayal of the music industry's glitz and glamour. Music business was so different back then all before the internet and social media. An "idol" meant something different. The film's engaging storyline and catchy tunes make it a worthwhile watch. I'm giving it a 7 out of 10 rating, as it successfully captures the spirit of its era and keeps you entertained throughout. I highly recommend a watch for any age but especially if you were alive in this era of the 1950's. A different time a different world.

Classic time piece
4 July 2023
First off, if you were a teenager in the 80's and liked Hard Rock/Metal music than this is the movie for you. If not, you will most likely find this movie cheesy, and absurd. For me, this just brings back so many great memories of being a kid. Some great music in this movie and the soundtrack is really good. This is a time period film that just takes you back to the great 80's when we didn't take things so serious. Music was a huge part of every day life. Yes this movie is cheesy but that is what the 80's was all about. Don't take it too seriously and watch this one and if you relate to those great 80's.

Original story
2 July 2023
"Run Rabbit Run" is a mesmerizing rollercoaster ride of thrills, suspense and emotion. From the very first frame, I was drawn into its mysterious world and held captive until the final credits rolled. The performances are stellar, breathing life into complex characters that stay with you long after the movie ends. While I personally found it to be a riveting and original experience, I give it a solid 7 out of 10. I believe there were a few missed opportunities for even greater depth and exploration. Nevertheless, "Run Rabbit Run" is a must-see for anyone seeking a thrilling and thought-provoking cinematic journey.

Private Parts (1972)

Solid film
24 June 2023
"Private Parts" (1972) is an intriguing and audacious film that pushes the boundaries of storytelling. With a solid rating of 7 out of 10 stars, it manages to captivate and challenge the audience. The movie delves into the complex world of intimacy and human desires, presenting a raw and unapologetic exploration. The performances are commendable, especially considering the controversial subject matter. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, "Private Parts" dares to be bold and leaves a lasting impression with its provocative narrative and thought-provoking themes. A solid 70's Horror/Thriller I recommend a watch.

Fantastic!
19 March 2023
Wow this is a great movie. The cast is perfect and great acting performances by all. Jamie Lee Curtis delivers probably her best of her career. The story is original and can be complex at times. You really need to pay attention throughout to keep up with the evolving storyline. I can see some viewers not getting it and losing interest. Although, there is so much action throughout that this alone should keep viewers from straying. Cinematography is amazing and the stunt choreography is outstanding. You can tell there was a lot of thought and effort out into each scene. There are also funny, sarcastic moments all through the movie that flow well. I highly recommend this film and it gets a solid 8 for me.

Held my attention

The thing about a drama is you need a good script and actors that can make the story believable. Both of these are present in this film. The acting is really good all around and at times might carry the script. The story is somewhat original and interesting but could have had a few more twists or events to make the story even better. The casting is well done. The actors did a fantastic job from the leads to supporting and cinematography is well done. Overall, this is a good film. If you like dramas and developing stories of bad relationships and the struggles of keeping one alive you should give this film a watch for sure.

What is this???
22 May 2022
This movie is a total disrespect to the original. I'm sorry Tony Todd. Disappointed in this film, I was expecting much better. I'm not sure why all the social injustice and white privileged themes had to be added, doesn't make sense.

Excellent

Vincent out did himself with writing/directing/acting. The story is original and off beat and the cast is perfect and acting is fantastic. The low budget feel just feeds the charm of this film. Highly recommend watching this one!

It's from the 80's
20 February 2022
I read all the bad reviews before watching but I already know going in that it's from the 80's. A lot of the charm of an 80's movie is it's cheese factor, and this movie is no exception. The acting is not as bad as all these reviews say, I thought it was decent. The story is typically of that time period. A gathering of young adults to party and get naked and have sex to get hunted by a crazy Santa. It gets five stars for me, nothing great but watchable if in an 80's slasher mood.

Conflicted
2 September 2021
What a beautifully shot film with great acting and cast and atmospheric scenes with vibrant colors. Where the film slightly went wrong for me was some of the music choices for a film like this. The conflict comes that some of the music choices fit perfect and many of the others just don't make any sense for this specific film and scenes. This caused me to be distracted and somewhat lose interest. Great film, bad music choices.

Not enough...
4 July 2021
It felt at times i was about to see something amazing happen but never happens. I was left disappointed with wanting more. The movie is well done and the cast is solid but it's just ok funny, never really crosses over the line to being really funny. It's worth a watch but not going to be a movie you watch again.

I tried so hard...
7 March 2021
I wanted to like this movie, but it was just ok. The acting is solid and some great atmospheric moments. The story is not all too original but still intriguing. Where the movie fails for me is in two spots. First, yes I know it is mostly at night, but parts are just too dark for the human eye. Second, the whole film is based around the monsters that we hardly get to see enough of. Worth a watch but keep your expectations low.

Dying world
4 August 2020
I remember when I was young always being at the mall. Whether it was just hanging out or hitting the food court, it was the place to go in a small town. The traditional mall is a dying world and this documentary captures one example of this. Great film, it's a must watch.

Classic!
31 March 2020
I hadn't seen this film in about 20 years, and now after watching it current day, it's just as good if not better now. No CGI, and I like that... The cast, and acting is really good, Donald Sutherland delivers an amazing performance. The cinematography is awesome! I highly recommend this as a must watch for any Sci-fi and/or Horror fan.

Worth a watch

Reminded me of Waiting... Day in the life of a Server and chain Restaurant chaos. Margot Kidder is in this and funny! I have to say I did laugh throughout this movie, and if you like dumb funny comedies, and don't take this too serious, it's worth a watch for sure.

Nice Surprise!
2 November 2019
I caught this on Showtime with time to kill and my expectations were low, but wow, nice surprise. Love the atmospheric feel, and wow India did a great job! For some reason, i thought it may be some kind of Lifetime movie type deal, i was soooo wrong. It kept my attention the whole movie, and with India that's not hard to do. It's worth a watch.
