King Uncle (1993)
Feel Good film
Perfect film to watch where you don't have to do much thinking. The film is fun and the relationship between Munni and Ashok and Anil is pure magic. Although similar to Annie i find this version much more appealing because obviously Munni is more cute than Shirley Temple was. Jackie Shroff plays his role int he second half perfectly although the first half is a bit over exaggerated and over acted. The songs were all great especially Khush Rehne Ki and the one with Munni and her King Uncle. the only downside i felt was Fanny's character who was just a caricature in my opinion and could have been done so much better. The villains were sometimes slightly over dramatic but for the most part believable. And to be honest i found the rest of Munni's little orphan friends slightly annoying.
Army (1996)
Cool
Overall this was a very good movie. Shah Rukh Khan's scenes were clearly the highlight as his interaction with Sridevi was brilliant and funny. Although I thought he was very good in the film the film focused too much on him (i mean 3 songs with the guy who's only there for 15 minutes?!) It should have concentrated on fleshing out the 'Army' more and the three love stories were basically pointless. I feel Mohnish Behl and Sudesh Berry's characters were more identifiable than the other three and so i was unhappy with the climax. The first song especially and the 'Army' song are clearly the only two songs worth remembering. But watched as a whole the movie leaves you feeling good.
Don (2006)
Brilliant
Absolutely brilliant, the best movie i have seen all year. Admittedly some parts (by which i mean Kareena and Arjun) could have been improved but overall i would definitely go see this movie again and again. The songs 'Don' and 'Khaike Paan' are clearly the best with excellent visual style. The climax is also very very good. Trust me even if you normally like to be told endings let yourself be surprised for once, you wont regret it. I look forward to the sequel which must obviously be in talks at least even though sequels rarely live up to the original. Overall i would recommend this film to anyone, just grit your teeth and bear it through Kareena's songs cos there's so much to come.
Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar (2006)
Interesting but Predictable
I only recommend you watch this film if it comes on T.V and you have nothing to do for 2and a 1/2 hours. It showcases a wide range of skill on Salman Khan's part although his customary topless scene is once again unnecessary as it has been for his last 30+ films. Shilpa Shetty's performance although adequate leaves no lasting reminder. She also needs to remember that when doing night-time scenes she should at least appear to have removed her make-up. The songs were all mis-placed and do nothing to advance the story without one memorable song. The Supporting Cast was very good, although Ahana's mother was very one dimensional throughout the film and her change was unbelievable and plastic.
