Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016)
It's resident evil - not Shakespear
Seriously, if you are watching this you know what to expect, guns, zombies, explosions and a plot (sort of). So, I can't slate it - it is what it is. Fun escapism. It's not going to win an Oscar, it's not going to change the world, it's just a collection of minutes to sit, scratch, laugh and enjoy. Put your feet up, grab a coffee and hit play. Just please don't watch and then complain it was 'not that good' 😂😂
I enjoyed it. It was gory, loud and had some reasonable acting. I love how each of these films invent new ways to kill a zombie. May come in handy in an apocalypse. Predicable, but so is Christmas and we all enjoy that.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Could have been better
Plot holes in abundance.
Predictable twists and turns.
London scenes to geographically accurate.
On saying that, I'm not a film snob - this was ok. Not as good, gritty or deep as the series are but to fit plot, personality and character building inside 2hrs is harder so, don't expect the same quality as the BBC productions or the in depth character building - but it's acted well, the budget seemed ok and made it believable. Idrus did well to keep me entertained and the landscape shots of London were lovely (not raining much). So all in all a reasonable effort.
I'd give it a B- (must try harder)
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
It's bad but I've seen worse
Yes it's slow. It's got a few holes. The acting is off at times and a bit cringy - but the story is interesting and thought provoking. The CGI is seamless and the action (when it comes) is great.
Not sure why it was set in the 1980s - really makes the film 'dated' and cheesy.
I didn't pay for this in a theatre so my view is less passionate. I am a DC fan so look with a positive viewpoint. However, I watched the first WW a few times, this will only be watched the one time, it's fine for a rainy afternoon not a Saturday night with popcorn.
