I'm a Travolta fan what was that?
10 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Although John Travolta has an impressive resume' I am sure that this movie won't be appearing at the top or even in his list of outstanding acting accomplishments. It is without doubt a movie which will 'teach me to review its ratings' prior to diving in an assuming a credible actor such as Travolta mean that it has to be good movie. Although Travolta & Stacey Keach give the main characters some form of believability, overall the confusing plot & the manner in which the biopic comes across.is so disappointing. Also disappointing is the 'overuse'of cursing. Not necessary. My final rating is 4.7, that I feel is being charitable as I am a fan of Keach & Travolta.

SINGULARLY THE WORST AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION EVER
4 October 2023
How anyone in their right mind could rate this show anything more than a 1 is unimaginable.

The illogical plot mixed in with a simply stupid script is too hard a pill to swallow. I love good Aussie humour as much as anyone, how to have a cast which included Bryan Brown, Sean Penn & Susan Sarandon yet produce 'absolute trash' goes without comprehension. This production will not go down in the annals of a quality Aussie made comedy. Hopefully it will never go from streaming services to Australian mainstream TV, if so Australian audiences will subjected to total CRINGE & embarrassment.

In summing up, please be WARNED with the above commentary.

Reach for the Stars - it's an Original HIT!
7 August 2023
Patrick Bramnall & Harriet Dyer are set to become megastars. Based on the unique dry off beat humour they demonstrate in Colin from Accounts. I can only see ski as the limit for this amazingly talented real life couple. Having previously seen Harriet Dyer deliver dry humour in Australian TV commercials, we now see her do the same in this original wonderfull witty black comedy series. The great news for fans of the series is that a 2nd series has been commissioned. After the multiple awards which Series 1 produced, the commissioning of a follow-up series was never in doubt.

No doubt fans will be anticipating when Series 2 will be released.

I for 1 of those fans will be keenly anticipating the broadcasting of that release date.

Ground breaking Care givers testimonial
13 May 2023
Although care givers will relate to this movie more than others, this movie is a MUST WATCH to remind all of us the love and responsibility we all have to our family.

BRILLIANT doco movie The majority of us will grow old & the fact is whilst some us will be fortunate to have good health in our twilight years, a lot of us won't.

Will our family choose to interrupt their busy lives and care for us? Or will our family take the easy route institutionalising those who have become inconveniently old?

We are on a similar journey with my wife's mother living with us. It is greatly appreciated seeing further down the track, as well as the honesty and raft of emotions that every family care giver experiences.

We admire the commitment, patience & tolerance demonstrated in the movie that is becoming rarer today in our immediate gratification, disposable society.

I urge everyone whether they are a caregiver or not to view this compelling story.

I commend the filmmaker & his young family for their braveness embarking on this journey of love and especially appreciate their giving insight to what is ahead in our journey.

We would like to personally Thank the film maker.

Best movie of its type for the era
21 April 2023
For long time fans of this movie I recommend catching. Life after Navigator on You Tube.

A great look back at the making of this marvellous movie. The doco shines the spotlight on the star of the movie Joey Cramer.

I find it difficult to find a more believable performance from a child actor in a motion picture of this type.

Regardless if you watch this movie in 2023 or way back in 1986, it's trully an incredible production.

I think this movie set the benchmark for all movies of its type which were to follow.

Once again I recommend taking in a viewing of The Flight of The Navigator just for the performance of Joey Cramer.

What an Incredible SURPRISE!
23 September 2022
After initially thinking that this series (8 episodes) was going to be 'contrived trash', after watching the entire series I now have to say that for its genre, 'it's best series' I have seen. The characters are 'so endearing'. Filmed throughout the most challenging Covid period, it delivers in the most surprising manner. As such I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the series as a MUST WATCH.

Although the humour is uniquely Clarkson, the characters (not actors) are truly loveable.

To say that watching each episode is 'addictive' is an understatement. Clarkson's narration is as always entertaining, however for some reason it is especially great throughout this series.

Brilliant Drama at its best...
24 August 2022
This brilliantly written Australian Drama is as realistic as it gets. It's difficult to fault a drama where such highly acclaimed actors such as Sam Neil & Marta Düsseldorf deliver their roles to the highest calibre. Setting aside the main storyline, the focus on the lives of several of the jurors is compelling viewing. Highly recommended.

Creditable performances by Wahlberg & Gibson
14 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although the movie has a believable storyline being a biopic, it had the potential to have been much better than I was. Creditable performances by The 3 main characters in Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson & Jackie Weaver. I say it's a worthwhile rating although it could have easily been a must if the writer's had of been a touch more creative with Father's Stu's admirers.

Had the potential to be a good Black comedy
14 May 2022
Not sure if the writers really knew what type of movie they wanted it to be. A movie that contained a good cast promised so much early.

Unfortunately it delivered a confusing, silly production. It seemed like the producers never had a clue how they wanted the final product to be.

Definitely not a worthwhile viewing recommendation for mine.

Although released back in 2004 - gives current movies a 'run for their money'
8 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As mentioned in my title, although this motion picture was made 17 years, from the the get go it 'pretty much' keeps viewers engaged. Taking into account that the acting is a tad ordinary, I found overall the storyline & action scenes merit the rating I have given this production. You will find a young Jason Statham play a baddy for a change.

So if you are looking for a fast paced engrossing show, this one is for you!

Surprisingly not too bad
8 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly if you can overlook the 'totally amateur' CGI in this motion picture & some strange sequencing scenes, the movie isn't all that bad. As bad as the majority of the CGI is, the scenes involving the Sharks (believe me there are plenty) are 'the most realistic' I have seen. Overall I think the producers have done a creditable job in honouring the men who sacrificed their lives & also those who were lucky enough to have survived this truly traumatic ordeal based. The movie will also show you how the Japanese not used kamikaze pilots to fly planes into ships, they also used crew to steer torpedoes into ships. Cage's performance as the skipper although not shelf is still credible.

Tip: Watch until the end as you will be surprised by the outcome.

The unbearable weight of expecting a movie which is believable.
30 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Based on the IMDB rating of 8.1 at the time of my viewing, now at the time of writing this review it has 'dropped' to 7.6, I expected a much better movie than I got. For the best part the 1st half of the movie does achieve a creditable rating, however for some reason during the latter half, the writers seemed to think that Nicholas Cage could go from an actor to a natural born killer in an instant. This is the point where the whole credibility of the movie went from believable to 'totally' unbelievable. A shame really because the movie has some likeable moments.

Some will try this show for 2-3 episodes in an attempt find humour
27 December 2021
After giving this show a try for 3 episodes in order to be fair & see if I could find any humour, I am sorry I couldn't find any. I wish everyone the best of luck in also finding any. I find it extremely hard to understand how a well known British comedian was associated with a show which offers any real genuine humour. It is especially disappointing given the number of places which the father & son team visit.

What amazes me is that the show survived for 5 Series.

A Masterful Performance by Noni Hazelhurst **Warning Spoiler alert**
29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As per my review title, this movie represents a 'truly' Masterful Performance by the lead actor in Noni Hazlehurst. It is an enchanting but confronting story of dementia & the fleeting period of lucidity which is experienced. Although the family found it 'challenging' to suddenly to have to deal with the sudden re-emergence of a mother (the matriarch) who they been resigned to having lost many years ago, the intriguing plot keeps the viewer 'glued' to the screen. Although this confronting story is at times sad, it also gives hope to some day medical science solving this mysterious disease of the brain.

From my viewpoint this Australian movie definitely receives a 'resounding' recommendation.
