Winter Solstice (2003)
Looked like they were just reading the lines
I hadn't read the book and tuned into this one afternoon hoping for a good drama. Unfortunately it just looked like the people were reading the parts and didn't put any enthusiasm into the role. The best of the lot was Cusack but the others just didn't seem to have any personality. Plus the plot twists were predictable. The scenery was lovely but the characters all seemed two dimensional with no depth to them at all. Plus I didn't think that the main character would sleep with someone 2 weeks after the death of his wife. I also found it unbelievable that having lived in a village for over 10 years, his only friend was the woman who'd just moved in.
Calendar Girls (2003)
Great script and wonderful cast
I saw this film last night with my husband, who was reluctant to see it, and we both loved it. It had some great laugh out loud moments and the casting was superb. The script was witty and also based in reality.
We both enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good night out.
Victory (1981)
Excellent film - one of my favourites
Excellent film. Even though I am not a football fan, I do like my war movies and this is one of my favourites. Don't ask me why - I just think that it is a very good feelgood movie because in the end, the Allies win and they still end up free. Unfortunately, not so for the people who the movie was based on - they won and were executed. However, the football is well choreographed and interesting to watch, plus it has quite a few good lines in it too.
