Action packed
17 October 2022
This is coming from a true fan of the video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Reverse anagram Boon and Tobias to get the character Noob Saibot(I wonder why he hasn't been featured in any of the storylines so far in the franchise).

The story seems to be inspired by the MK11 video game with characters introduced in MK Armageddon (for those who are not familiar with some of them).

The plot has a very beautiful unusual concept of a Mad Max inspired dystopian future, the art style is very beautiful and stylish, voice acting is decent and of course there is the characteristic over-the-top gore. It's strongest point is the action which is fluid and contributes to the overall entertainment.

Character development is good, even though it's focus is on the two main characters. Could have done with more details into Kenshi's training and development into the blind swordsman. It's lengthy but still not properly handled. That part of the plot was a bit all over the place. The movie's plot twist involving Kenshi's relationship with both Shang Tsung and sub zero threatens to affect it's faithfulness to the source material.

Pretty decent action which is not lacking in entertainment value.

Two and a Half Men: Hi, Mr. Horned One (2005)
Season 3, Episode 6
Oh Jodi Lyn O'keefe
21 September 2022
This is the second time Jodi Lyn O'keefe is staring on the show after portraying Gail in the season two episode, "Last Time To See Those Tattoos". While that was a very brief, cameo-like characterisation, she steals the show here with her gothic-evil-intimidating character, Isabella. Even though it was a dark episode, it's one of the funniest of the entire season, if not the entire show. It brought out the best out of all the cast even Conchata Ferrell's character who is usually a hit & miss when it comes to comedy is able to shine very well in that one scene. There were many funny moments and my personal best had to be Charlie's anointing scene. I almost burst out my lungs laughing when he started singing.

An episode no one should miss. Funny through and through.

Tired franchise. Tired presentation.
31 July 2022
Something or everything just seemed way off about this movie. The actors were not all there and their interactions with their environment and dinosaur counterparts were so uneven unnatural and inharmonious.

The attempt at reunion of two generations of actors was too on the nose to have any impact. Most of the screen play was just a rehearsal of what has been seen before. There was also too many overly convenient set pieces to push forward an already absent plot. Too easy for the characters to get out of seemingly dangerous situations and all attempts at any tension fell flat. Also, no character development what so ever. Agreed, these are characters we are already familiar with but not a single character can have a progression, come on. The villain also is a joke as are the locusts and their pointless involvement in the story.

It's not all bad because there's is outstanding visuals and some world building that was left unexplored. Not enough to save this movie from being forgettable.

Misses it's target audience
8 February 2022
Going into this, I wondered what a stand-alone Catwoman movie would look like and here u have Catwoman: Hunted.

It took a while personally, to recognise the animation style for this cartoon. It didn't look good at first where the characters' anatomy were not seamless but it got better and after seeing that it's anime, it became more appreciable. It seemed to work well for the action scenes but a huge problem with that is the way the manoeuvres were handled. All laws of physics were broken, taking suspension of belief to a new level.

The voice acting is not among the best we have seen but it's one you can get by with. That being said, what killed the dialogue was the cringe worthy humour. At first, one would think that the light tone and humour meant that it was targeted at kids or very young teens. The first quarter also seemed to deliberate dodge any gory displays as well. But as the movie progressed the directors seemed to forget their layout altogether and just deliver one gruesome shot after another. Back to the dialogue and banter, I couldn't believe what I was hearing but as it went on, I found myself laughing at the movie's ridiculous attempt at any form of humour. Whenever the actress voicing Catwoman/Selina Kyle was delivering her lines, the sentences seemed to drag as if to patronize the viewer. Cheesy one liners were thrown back and forth and yet, some phrases still managed to be in-audible.

It's a movie with quite a simple plot, lots of female characters and a welcome agenda against human trafficking, "young girls" as expressly stated by Catwoman at a point.

Still it doesn't know who it's meant to be aimed at.

Diverse and thrilling episode
23 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Continues from where the last episode stops... Princess Mirana's situation leads to a dream sequence involving her origins and there's character development for Marci, one the more likable characters.

More characters are introduced to move the plot forward. Fymryn's company of humans is attacked and mercilessly slaughtered as she witnesses cruelty from her own people leading to heart breaking revelations on how much of a difference she can make. Davion is brought before the emperor in his quest for the stone. Luna is on a mission of her own to hunt for Mirana's shooter while she herself is being hunted. And Lina isn't all she seems. Another thrilling episode, pretty tense and action packed in the third act. I hope they are able to tie up loose ends involving the plot. Still, it's very entertaining with top quality animation.

Task force X to X-Force
30 November 2021
Nice sequel to Suicide squad AKA Task Force X, this movie has some funny moments that will make you chuckle even in the midst of its dark rendition. It's quite over the top with violence which makes for not taking it all too seriously and adds to it's dark humour. Even the opening quarter of the movie with the inadvertent misfits that serve as a diversion is quite similar to the "X-force" set up in Deadpool 2. A scene with a plan going horribly wrong resulting in a lot of deaths was way funnier in that movie but not too bad in this case.

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn's ability to take down tough opposition in all 3 DCEU appearances is a bit hard to swallow. While in the comics, her friendship with poison ivy resulted in the later giving her powers, the writters could have done well to explain how she's overly resourceful with special physical abilities in these movies. Also, what technology does Blood-sport (Idris Elba) use to assemble his weapons and tech?

There's a lot of colourful creativity in this movie which makes for good popcorn non-stop action. The characters were sufficiently developed for likeability. King Shark (voiced by Sly Stallone himself) was always a delight in his scenes. Beautiful and satisfying.

For the fans... but a tad incoherent
6 September 2021
Scorpions revenge was a fresh take on this beautiful franchise that is spanning towards it's third decade. As a fan of the video games since it's inception in the family com and Sega consoles I'd always wanted an adaptation that will be true to the theme of the games and MK:Scorpion's Revenge delivered on that note a bit masterfully.

The sequel MK:BOTR was quite the hit and miss for me. The character premise were spot on but could have done with a bit more development. The voice actors did a wonderful job and I dare say Joel McHale's Johnny cage was my favourite. Their portrayals were very true to the source material unlike the recent movie where the functions of Raiden and Liu kang were questionable.

The problem with this movie is that it tried to cram in too much into one plot in an attempt to be epic. Mortal Kombat has enough material, in my opinion, to span across three or four movies but they meshed up the various storylines into an insufficient runtime which made the plot a bit too incoherent. Various dynamics could have been explored further. There's the Shaolin monks' plotline that could have been enjoyable to watch but there was hardly any interaction between Kung Lao and Liu kang. The Fire and Ice storyline took a direction that was well handled and it was even a delight to have the Lin Kuei grandmaster portrayed in this one.

In the gore department, it delivered and I'm sure fans will be duly satisfied. The fatalities were handled creatively except for the motivations of a character like Shao Kahn whose choice on who's worthy of fatalities is questionable.

Overall an enjoyable movie. Animation, fight choreography, score and voicing were spot on. Highly recommended.

What we've been waiting for.
24 September 2020
I had always imagined a mortal kombat cinematic universal where different installments would subsequently focus on someone other than the central protagonist. Scorpion's revenge more than met my expectations. I also liked how the makers didn't cram in too much of the characters into one movie. This definitely creates room for sequel(s). Even character development for the likes of Liu Kang didn't come full circle, which is a good thing. Though I would have liked the presence of chief developers; Ed Boon and John Tobias' very own character in the person of Noob Saibot. Reverse anagram their last names to know what I mean.

In all this was a splendid animation with a bit over-the-top gory action sequences but it's what one should expect if you are a true fan of the video games as well as this style animation studio.

Truly what we've been waiting for. I recommend this to any Mk fan and non-fans alike. Huge Kudos to Warner bros and the collaborative studios. Watch out for the opening sequence goofy duck's encounter with scorpion.

The Walking Dead: Conquer (2015)
Season 5, Episode 16
With wolves lurking, do u remain a Lamb or become a Lion?
30 March 2015
This is not just a season finale but it is the best episode of the walking dead, in my own opinion at least. Fantastic set pieces from start to finish, not a single plot contrivance and there was a sense of dread as well as closure that I'm sure is going to amaze the viewer while watching this epic finale. For the first time in a while, it truly seems the writers know what they are doing.

There's definitely a lot going on in this episode. The characters had a lot to conquer and not a single character thread is wasted. Nice re- introduction to Morgan. A most welcome ally and where did he learn to fight like that? Lennie James was a delight to watch.

The directing was nicely done. Writing was fantastic and forced dialog which we have come to associate with the walking dead is hopefully a thing of the past if this episode is anything to go by. In a nuanced fashion, a lot of the cast stepped up their acting in this episode. Melissa Mcbride is becoming more menacing by the day as her character Carol is far cry from who we knew in seasons 1 and 2. Andrew Lincoln owned the episode and shone delightfully. Steven Yeun once again was in top form. I'd even like to make special mention to Seth Gilliam, though Father Gabriel is most presumably everyone's least favorite character right now (Wolf in sheep's....)

The Letter W, and what's its significance, stood out in episodes prior. Without giving much away I'd like to state that a new threat lies outside of Alexandria as well as inside. Moment of truth at the end of the episode and in reference to our letter W is while dealing with a threat of Wolves outside as well as Wolves in sheep's clothing inside, you either chose to be just a Lamb or rise and rise again until Lambs become Lions.

This is brilliant rendering of episodic TV. 10/10

The Walking Dead: Spend (2015)
Season 5, Episode 14
Real tension or plot contrivance. What really makes this episode?
16 March 2015
Even though this show is mostly about characters in the apocalypse, its literally the walking dead after all and this episode does well to give the Zombies the respect that's due them. As a zombie geek, I'd say my appetite was more than satisfied (not literally). Some other reviewer pointed out; this is one of the goriest episodes the entire series. Our characters don't get to be the killers this time.

That is not to say its not a character driven episode. This is an episode that will definitely make an impact on the viewer on both fronts. Its tense moments are the highlights even though their setups seem a little too contrived. Two key moments are significant in this regard. (SPOILERS) The reason for the priests revelation beats me. Even though he has been portrayed as tortured since character introduction, it still doesn't explain his false revelation at the end of the episode at a time when the news of the death of the leaders' son will be arriving any moment.

The second is with the "non-Rick's group" characters being too dumb or too cowardly to be reasonable during confrontations. The scene with Abraham being the hero and that of Aiden repeatedly shooting a masked zombie which just so happens to have a bomb on it even though there are other options are both a bit of a setup. We loose a beloved albeit under-developed character too.

That being said I loved this episode. There's definitely multiple cliff hangers. Something that's been absent in previous episodes. It works on so many levels.

A visual extravaganza
2 May 2014
I wasn't up for a reboot of the Spiderman franchise prior to this movie & after seeing it, it did change my opinion but only just. And I'd describe that with some pros & cons.

It was a very efficient adaptation and I appreciate that about it. In addition to web-slinging, wall crawling and a Spider sense, we also get witty banter with villains and criminals alike as well as a suit upgrade. As a huge fan of the comics as a child, my biggest attractive characteristic of Spiderman is his ability to churn up amazing one-liners with super-villains even in the midst of unfavorable circumstances. In the previous movie, the attempt at this was a hit and miss and very tacky at best but Andrew Garfield seems to have done his homework with this one.

All actors did a very good job. I didn't find the non-action sequences a drag & they did well to drive the movie forward. My star performer is Jamie Fox as well as Sally Field.

As for the tone, Spiderman is not Batman and most certainly not the dark knight either. A brilliant teenager with spectacular superhuman abilities on the big-screen... In my opinion, its allowed to be a bit over-the-top and not quite as childish as other reviewers claim.

.

On the other hand, the big screen effect could have been more amazing without half of the movie being included in the trailers. There was no room for surprises. Non whatsoever. Not even in the climax battle. If for anything, the end battle was anti-climatic as I've seen it in the Trailers over & over again.

The worst part for me was the climax battle. It was so crammed up you could hardly figure out what's happening anywhere. It just seemed like a skits show of visual effects blitz.

Better than previous installments but couldn't match Spiderman 2.

The Walking Dead: A (2014)
Season 4, Episode 16
Not Quite The Ideal Season Finale
31 March 2014
Here I have to say its good to see Hershel again.

First Rick goes into prison nostalgia then we find out the reason for that soon enough. We have a contestant for the most far-fetched recovery from a group of marauders in the scene where Joe's group attempt to punish Rick for killing their friend. That escape was played quite unconvincingly. Its salvaged by Daryl though. How we have seen unquestionable loyalty from him towards Rick over the course of this series but that scene was another structure for his character, further emphasized by the "you are my brother" phrase from Rick.

Oh terminus. Men without guns asking men with guns to lay down their weapons. That's gotta give you a bad feeling. Quite mediocre episode this is. I looked at the time at the end wondering -is this it-? This episode could have been replaced with the mid-season finale "too far gone", all they need is a little storyline reshuffling after all nothing much has happened from then up till now.

This season and sometimes the entire show just takes a brilliant premise and drags it on to God knows where. The only reason I look forward to next season is cause I wonder how Rick's gonna prove "they are screwing with the wrong people".

I'm still undecided.

The Walking Dead: Still (2014)
Season 4, Episode 12
One of the best character development episodes of the show
4 March 2014
I have to say this episode had great acting & good pacing. It even had a little comedy inspired moment with the "rich b**ch" tag-board. And then Beth's new dress becoming zombie-golf target practice.

The opening scene was very intense & nicely done. Beth & Daryl finding themselves having to be caught in the trunk of a car for the night. Beth's insistence on getting alcohol seems a little stretched & ridiculous. But it's worthy enough with her being a teen who's gradually been losing members of her family. Her story has been developed bio-analytically that she's grown with a pretty functional family that's in contrast to Daryl's. The scene with the Zombie taunting & tongue lashing between both characters might have seemed forced but is played fairly strongly by both actors especially Norman Reedus. Their chemistry is likable. Daryl's obviously not old enough to be her Dad & not quite young enough to be her boyfriend but he could function as her older brother. Seeing as he's only ever been a follower in his life, first to his brother Meryl & then to Rick, he seems to do well with a female company and no strings attached.

All in all, even though there's very little to non- action present, it was still a touching episode. Only downside is the absence of any other character whatsoever.

My vote's 6.

Breaking Bad: Down (2009)
Season 2, Episode 4
Most touching episode so far
21 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't written a review for this series before but I'm so moved by this episode I had to come up with this.

We were quickly taken from the two protagonists sorting themselves one way or another, Walt, with his family & Jesse, with the cops, to the unprecedented repercussions of their actions. Walt gets a passive aggressive display of anger & disappointment from his family while Jesse just basically plunges "down" south. It could be hard to swallow the sudden transformation of events but its proof that when things tend to go bad, they go bad real fast. Not to be insensitive here but I have to say they had It coming one way or another. Its the causality of life. Great writing here.

Kudos to Brian Cranston as usual. Character Walt couldn't be faulted but Aaron Paul gave a solid performance here as well with his portrayal of the quite unfortunate Jesse Pinkman. Anna Gunn is very believable

as well. Her character is not the best of wives out there but to show the emotions of an angry, fed up yet imperfect wife is what she does well here. Two top cast members are missing here but it works. The omission of comic relief that Hank provides works okay as this episode really portrays what the show is about. A tragic comedy.

The Walking Dead: Internment (2013)
Season 4, Episode 5
8/10
Finally a Captivating score
21 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This episode succeeds in delivering a critical element which I thought has been missing in the entire series on a large scale. There have been some great writing in the series prior but nothing does justice to scenes; moody or otherwise like a good score. One might fail to notice some memorable scenes in season one of this series due to lack of a score that draws you in. This has to be one of the very best episodes in the entire show for this reason and...

Oh God bless Hershel. Internment means a group of people confined in a place in periods of crisis. But the interned individual for this episode has to be Hershel. True character defining moment, one that creates grounds between hopeful or deliberate, foolish & stupid or smart & cautious decisions. He does come out tops while displaying true faith & hope. We also have a very well placed score to make his moments more captivating. We could have lost Glenn, we could have lost Sasha....

And the Zombies have broken in while we have a limited amount of man power but thank God for ammo. In one of the more beautifully shot action sequences I have even seen, we have the Grimes face off against a yard full of zombies. If you have ever not known how to use a Mack-4, you should get some tips from this. The score for this sequence is well made as well.

A nerve racking episode & then we have the Governor. A huge setup for events to come.

Man of Steel (2013)
7/10
Very good indeed
28 July 2013
The man of steel comes to the silver screen and I was pained I didn't get to see it as early as I would have liked. But I thought I'd still write a review about it.

Its a block-buster and I didn't expect anything less. It managed to exceed my expectations a great deal even though it wasn't perfect. The actors were well cast, it had good direction and pacing but it was the visual effects that stole the show...

This is one of the best visually stunning action display I have ever seen in Hollywood (yes, right there I SAID IT). Among my top five at least. In fact the only standout movie I can recall that could beat it is The Matrix. The beauty of it is that though I have seen movies before with short well constructed visuals , and others have been jam-packed and in the process would then get to be all over the place leaving the audience not knowing what to make out of the muddle, shambles and disorderliness, like TRANSFORMERS, this masterpiece had effects in excess(and I stress "in excess" a good 1 hour,20 something minutes dedicated to action ) and still succeeded in pulling it off beautifully. I wouldn't like to spoil it but you need to see it for yourselves.

The story was okay with the first third dedicated to showing the home planet's and its inhabitants' destruction though I wouldn't say no plot-holes *spoiler alert*: Why wouldn't a council try to save some of its planetary citizens with its technology but instead are able, and choose to transport criminals who could have been executed to another dimension. This being said, as a Fan I was still able to respect the minor exclusions from the original Superman material. In fact the exclusion of the panties over spandex costume was more than welcome. And I like as the story kept close to the source material. The struggle of Superman with being an outsider and minor romance story with Lois Lane. It wasn't perfect though as it still had plot-holes.

The score was great. I wouldn't speak much on that. And the choice of actors. Visually, Henry Cavill is one of the best embodiments of superman ever. He reminds me of Tom Welling in the Smallville TV series who, I also think, along with Cavill are better than previous editions. A welcome inclusion as well as (as I strongly believe) a marketing accessory Bankable star is Russell Crowe. The perfect Jor el. Amy Adams and Michael Shannon were okay as Lois Lane and General Zod respectively but special mention goes to Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent. Diane Lane was a breathe of fresh air as Martha too. This still reminded of Smallville's Kents.

Overall a great movie. Sets up well for a sequel.

Look out for the best man's speech.
4 September 2012
A few best men is a movie I picked up on the side from a course-mate at school. He seemed to have a taste for laugh out loud comedy like I do so my interest was to see it after he did.

Yes, it may seem cliché d, it may seem borrowed in major parts from previous Hollywood block-busters (the hangover in particular and all best men movies in general), and it may have the stereotypical characters that make up the ensemble of a groom's-best-friends kind of movie; but my is it a hilarious movie.

The story was not wholly original, even basically unoriginal in every sense of the word but its a comedy and it does hit its mark in that regard. It comes on right in your face, gets dreary and downright boring in places but picks up in spectacular fashion. If you are patient enough just as I was when I saw it, you'll get my point. As a whole, it doesn't come close to other movies of its kind in terms of cast and plot but with its laugh out loud moments, it can rival any or most Hollywood comedies and I assure you Hollywood directors could learn a thing of two from this bunch.

Its greatest strength is not in its characters, not in the cast either but in the cinematography and screen-play. Shot in Australia, it does well to capture major beautiful scenery and has good shot sequences.

There are standout and believable moments for most of its characters and their actors though most notably Xavier Samuel. This is the only other media I've seen him in outside of the Twilight: eclipse and he does a decent performance as the groom. Laura Brent was also beautiful and captivating as the bride. Look out for the best man's speech that makes good work of some intertwined British/Aussie humour delivered in a hilarious fashion it will basically crack your ribs.

It showed promise got flat at the middle and got downright hilarious in the third quarter. I'd recommend it for anyone who is a fan of dirty but plain laugh out loud comedy.

Fresh Blast From The Past
31 May 2012
Agent J travels in time to MIB's early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.

I saw the first trailer of this movie and I thought,"here we go again, another boring sequel" and then the second trailer came out and was good so I thought it was worth a shot. I went to the Cinema with an open mind as I also really wanted to see Will Smith on the big screen after such a long absence. Also having enjoyed the first movie a great deal, I just wanted this movie to exceed the second and that was all I asked for so my expectations were relatively low.

My, was I surprised. It is no secret that the second movie is a disaster but MiB3, though not quite the first due to plot holes, still strongly holds its own. The Cinematography is beautiful and quite exceptional too as the depiction of the 1960s setting was breathtaking; and even the celebrity Cameos are a delight to see. I still wonder how they consented to appear in this picture (I won't spoil the fun and mention their names). The sequence of agent Jay falling through time is beautiful as well. Perhaps as any in Hollywood Cinema.

The movie still isn't perfect due to plot holes like some references Jay makes in the past that do not coincide with the time line. In all, what makes this movie fresh and is also its heart is its well written script and its cast. Of course Will Smith returns as Agent Jay and is allowed to just be his enthusiastic, spontaneous and charismatic self that has endeared us to him over the years delivering a lot of comic wits. Tommy Lee Jones could do no wrong also as the stern and serene Agent Kay. The Jay and Kay dynamic didn't quite work well in the first ten to fifteen minutes of the movie and it still seemed like they were first time partners even though the movie time frame in the present coincides with ours which is a decade after their first meeting. All this boredom were put to rest as soon as we jump to the past to meet with the younger Agent Kay as portrayed by Josh Brolin and he is quite easily the superstar of this show. This performance is as close to perfection as any can get with his accurate impersonation of the serene but quick wit expression of Tommy Lee Jones that we have grown accustomed to over the years. His performance was so great that it made the character of a young Emma Thompson/Agent O seem a lot out of place. He made his character work so well that you could see how this 29 year old agent Kay could well transform into the present Agent we well know. And even with this impersonation, he did well to make the character his own in a lot of ways.

The dynamic between Agent Jay and the younger Agent Kay really carries the movie and this could be the one out of the three with the most heart in the MiB franchise. It seemed to focus a lot on character development and this is a huge plus for the movie. Some of the humor did fall flat but a lot of it works. The supporting cast were not left out as their performances were impeccable both for drama and comedy and did I fail to mention Jermaine Clement as the Evil Boris the animal.

If you were a fan of the first MiB movie, you should go and see this. If you hated or weren't quite fond of the second, you should really go and see this.

The Avengers (2012)

what the Hell.... Best OMG Marvel Adaptation ever
17 May 2012
I'm coming out straight up to say this is †he most freaking amazing comic movie adaptation I have ever seen....Best movie of 2012, best marvel adaptation ever.

I have to say, what †he freaking ....... Fuzz!!!!! I can't believe I've just seen a movie as great as this from Hollywood. Where could it ever go wrong? From cast ensemble, to Character arc to character development, to story, to OMG spectacular kick-ass action... -pause to catch my breath- my mind is still spiraling from what I have just seen. This is a movie I want to watch this next minute if I have †he chance!!

My only downside to this movie though is not seeing it in time.. oops ha that is no downer to †he movie itself. It made me laugh, get tear eyed, marvel in wonder at pure awesomeness, jump out of my seat, tremble in fear, its just great. Sorry I can't find †he words still. As large as †he hype to this movie is, it still didn't do justice to how awesome this movie is. gosh!!!

Great job Joss Whedon. He really is a passionate comic book writer who does justice to this ensemble, shuffling up things to boiling point between characters and I can't even start to describe his major villain whose actor gives an Oscar worthy performance.

Never had a bad-ass bad guy that kept me awestruck this much since †he matrix. Tom Hiddlestone does justice to this character in a way that truly signifies a real god of mischief. Scheming and plotting with thoughts and plans coming at split second intervals, Tom Hiddlestone still gives his character that dynamism of a brainiac with deep inner pain that you'd think could boil over at any moment.

Mind blowing movie for a super hero generation. If u are a comic book fan, you would drool over this movie and I'm not just saying. If you are not even, there's no reason why you shouldn't watch this movie still. It just couldn't go wrong.

*Panting*

Good but not worth all the hype
2 May 2012
I didn't intend to see this movie as my taste in over-hyped blockbusters easily waned alongside my clocking my early twenties. I stumbled into the theater as a result of schedule change with the movie I wanted to see having being shifted. The hype though still succeeded in affecting my curiosity so I went to see this.

I haven't read the books no. Though I have taken a word or two from past reviews knowing its a first person narrative organized in a post-Apocalyptic future, written by movie writer and Author Suzanne Collins.

Though set in a post-Apocalyptic world, its not your regular post-Apocalyptic movie. You'd have had residual damaged cities, sparse population and..... maybe flesh eating zombies as they usually do. The beginning of the movie was promising I must say.

There have been mention of poor characterization of the tributes with the exception of Woody Harrelson's and Elizabeth Banks' characters respectively. Then there's that of physical portrayal; Katniss and the tributes from the other districts do not seem to be going hungry- and then the exploitation of the districts, haven been a major plot point in the books is barely seen in this motion picture.

In my opinion Effie Trinket was captivating. Elizabeth Banks really does justice to her. Woody Harrelson was especially brushed up as Haymitch. His lines kept me laughing at times but it was Jennifer Lawrence who stole the show even though its said she is not starved enough. The fears, inner strength and purposefulness she shows all seem very moving and quite carries the movie on its own but Josh Hutcherson's Peeta was quite flat. Though I haven't read the book, it seemed unconvincing and lacked emotional depth affecting the dynamic between him and Katniss. If he had been lost in the games, I doubt anyone would really miss him save for the fourteen year old girls with the buzz of "guy loves girl loves guy" triangles in the air from the twilight sagas. Even Katniss' chemistry with Liam Hemsworth's character, though not in romantic terms seemed to carry a lot more weight.

There may be a lot more to the entire story than shown in this movie and its a pretty average made huge budget blockbuster compared to the hype all over it. Apart from the opening scenes that portray a hungry society that seems to have lost hope, the rest of the story lacked depth. The arena battle lacked any tension. It was like watching chronicles of Narnia without the magic.I don't want to start on the stereotypical tributes of the other districts even though there was a fine attempt to minimize the on-screen violence for the sake of the much younger viewer understandably to attract a wider Audience. They seemed like they were all having fun in the jungle.

For Katniss and Amandla Sternberg's character as Rue, I give this movie a 7 and I'd recommend a few bucks for it. Don't expect much. Maybe the sequel does better. Enjoy

Scrubs (2001–2010)

Best slapstick comedy characters ever....
27 May 2010
I must say I'm a fan of comedy, sitcom and the likes but usually I find my self getting more bored out of my wits with the shows that are being aired on TV that I've lost interest. But scrubs changed all that.

This is a Drama show that has taken comedy to a different level with intelligent writing, great characters and absolutely hilarious slapstick comedy all done with camera work and directing that's kind of a roller coaster ride but still keeps a dramatic undertone to it.

The episodic story is brought up in a Dr John Dorian "JD's" narrative or philosophy as I'd like to call it.It deals with everyday issues at sacred heart hospital with great characters who can be lovable(JD,Carla)the weird but funny ones(Elliot, the Janitor)the Badass conscious Dr Perry Cox with the chief of Medicine Bob Kelso who is "funny no matter what he says".

The second string cast are awesome with characters such as the obnoxious Jordan Sullivan who is the perfect match for Dr Cox as his wife,Tedd Buckland the lawyer with extreme childlike tendencies and the Todd who never has anything other than sex and high fives in his head.Great ensemble. They never fail to deliver with rib cracking shot screen goofs.

The show is a delight that I'd recommend for anyone.(Or at least those who still have their comedy Bones in their bodies).

Smallville: Hydro (2007)
Season 6, Episode 10

Story of revealing and almost revealing of secrets.Great confidant Chloe
25 March 2008
I've always known Chloe to be the evenly good girl that is portrayed by Allison mack(permit me to start with this)but in this episode, she nailed it.

1st off,I'd go over the story.Linda lake is a very nosy overzealous, cynical and very very FREAKY top columnist at the daily planet. She goes over to write a very bad story on Lana Lang after overhearing her conversation with Chloe. They both now decide to do a private investigation on this columnist but the tables are turned:Lana almost discovers Clark's secret.

Meanwhile after a secret rendezvous between Lois and Jimmy Olsen and a little photo deal,Lois discovers (or rather becomes very suspicious)that "Ollie is the Green Arrow".She tells Clark this and Clark Decides he wants to help a friend keep his secret, posing as the green arrow and saving Lois in an alley(a scene which sees Clark finally kiss Lois),only for Oliver to appear in the middle thereby convincing Lois that GR was an impostor. On seeing the photo shots and hearing the story from Jimmy, Chloe figures out that Ollie really is the Green arrow(being the Fort Knox of secrets that she is),she knows that its Clark who knows the Green arrow's secret that helped Oliver pull this off.

Tom welling's directing is very remarkable in this episode. In fact,I loved this the most in the sixth season.Especially the scene where Chloe invites Clark over 2 hear Lois talk about her kiss with the Green arrow.Allison Mac really knows how to get it done, being in the middle of everything.

This episode could really have been named secrets because of the almost unraveling of secrets that is involved in this one.

Smallville: Promise (2007)
Season 6, Episode 16
unpleasant
27 February 2008
When I first saw this flick I had been quite a fan of Superman from childhood but I really had 4gotten or didn't take any notice of the fact that Lois Lane was the traditional heartthrob of Clark Kent. Could be because I had just watched the comic a couple of times. This made the seeming romance of Lana Lang and Clark Kent 2 get into my head and I wanted so badly 4 them to end up Together, thats why the dumbness portrayed by them (or Clark)sacrificing their love in order 2 protect the other really gave an unpleasant taste.Lois lane doesn't seem a great character to be caring enough for Clark Kent to be his girlfriend.

But still,I'd hoped by now we'd be getting closer to the Clark/Lois romance level. But the writers still try so hard to keep us glued to the old story with this Episode. On its own, this is a great story but it would have done a lot better if it had been in the third or fourth seasons.Too bad this can't be inserted into any of those.

A great story but not a great inclusion. It did well to downsize this season.I'd give it a 7/10.
