Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
I think it's doing justice to its original
I think people are hating it just because it can't copy the original 1:1
Even though it's different it keeps the idea, characters and everything in place. It has its downsides, I agree. Mainly some cast choices are pretty bad, but the most important characters are well made. The story is as it should be, showing the real problems that Aang and his friend are facing. Story is developing properly, pacing is good, the world is shown and interesting. In summary - this is really well made. CGI is good or very good.
Don't listen to the haters and give it a try. It's much better than I expected it to be.
Rick and Morty (2013)
I must agree with other reviews. I don't recommend.
I've watched first 3 seasons and they were pretty good. 7 to 8 out of 10. Then I started watching season 4 and it just didn't make sense. It's like completely different TV series. It's a complete mess, full of absolutely stupid and low level unfunny jokes.
The good pace of previous seasons was completely gone. Also previous episodes were often building some story, that you thought knew how it's going to end, just to shatter it and take you by surprise by going sideways. This quality narration is gone completely.
Season 4 is just filled with trash stories. It's like random scenes put together by a computer to create an "episode" and confuse you so much, that you don't understand what you watched and will just accept that it must be "good", while the reality is it's not. It's a mess.
I highly DO NOT recommend wasting your time on it. You may want to watch first 3 seasons. They're still only good - nothing epic, but they have its unique style.
I'm not watching anything more because It's just an insult.
The Orville (2017)
It only gets better
At first you get an impression it's a comedy of star trek but the more you watch it the more you realize how good this show is and how inferior star trek is.
You keep watching thinking it can't get any better, that they will run out of ideas and you're constantly wrong.
I really recommend it - it's easy to follow, has a lot of funny jokes, nice narration, unique and very likeable characters, points and references to our everyday personal or political problems, good endings, bad endings.
All of it nicely blended together without hiccups.
And season after season gets more $$$ for production value and you can see it.
My favorite show right now :)
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Not impressed
Main character - like always - typical 7/10. Directing is pretty mediocre. Story - boring, boring and boring.
BTW this movie is about "acting", but I don't like acting in it. It's just... average or bad. Proper director maybe could make it an interesting movie, but this one didn't.
The Witcher (2019)
Impossible to enjoy
I didn't have high expectations but this is just objectively bad. Even if you look at it as something new... then it's actually even worse.
I had no idea it's possible to release something this bad and then double down on it.
There's no point going point by point what's wrong with it. There's some good stuff, but it's not about cherry picking golden nuggets from loads of cr*p...
Betting on Zero (2016)
Don't waste time
You could read the whole story in 10 min. And be done with it. But this movie stretched it into almost 2 hours long and boring - whatever it is.
Tl;dr The guy shorts the stock (makes a bet). Another one doesn't like this guy so he buys the stock (makes a counter bet - longs the stock). Others join the second one. The second one wins. In the end the first one was right, but didn't make money out of it, because he has a punchable face and nobody likes him and stock isn't about being right or wrong but about gambling and how good of a gamler are you. The first one isn't a good gambler.
Succession (2018)
If not for the script...
It would be a nice show with great cast, nicely developed characters and everything BUT someone is writing boring and pointless dialogues. The overall idea and pivot points are really good, but the gap between them is filled with something so repelling I just stopped watching it and I don't care how it ends.
