Civil War (2024)
Why does it have to be the Civil War?
I think this is a very poorly made movie. The main reason is that its content does not match the title.
First, the content of this movie is extremely hollow.
To give an extreme example, let's change the theme of this movie. Suppose this movie is about a zombie president ruling the United States, and a human resistance army launching a war against the zombie army's rule.
Even with such a fictional premise, you will find that most of the movie's plot can still fit perfectly into this storyline. Journalists risk their lives to fulfill their media duties on the front lines, people in the war zone break the boundaries of humanity to survive, and the indiscriminate killing and cruelty of soldiers on both sides-these themes frequently appear in any war movie. This makes you ask the question: "Why does it have to be the Civil War?"
Secondly, any war involves ideological and cultural entanglements and struggles. Indeed, initiating a war is not complicated, but for a war to continue, there must be deeper thinking at play. Invasion and resistance, justice and evil, interests and love-any war operates around a series of values.
This is even more true for a civil war. What makes citizens of the same country kill each other? What creates such opposing values? These are the questions that a work about a civil war should discuss.
But this movie, "Civil War" does not address these issues. It only tells us that the war has happened and that it is persecuting American citizens. However, it ignores the logic behind the war and focuses the story on a very small area. Such a story cannot match the powerful symbolism of the movie's title.
Thirdly, there are many extremely childish logical flaws in this movie.
For example, the issue of information control during the war. Whether it is the resistance army or the government army, they would certainly want public opinion to be in their favor. In this situation, they would not allow a group of journalists to film so many cruel and bloody scenes on the battlefield, thereby intensifying the public's aversion to the war.
It feels like this script was written by a high school student who doesn't understand politics and war, and this lack of understanding of reality makes the entire story lack the most basic credibility.
The Fall Guy (2024)
It can be said that they have made the entire film industry possible
This is not my favorite type of movie. The overall pace of the film is quite fast, which makes the emotional progression between the male and female protagonists lack credibility. The suspense part of the story attempts to depict a plot where a double takes the blame for the lead actor, but the villain's plan has too many loopholes, making it somewhat unconvincing.
On the other hand, this movie showcases a series of highly difficult classic stunts, paying tribute to stunt performers in the traditional film industry (ironically, this film also uses many unsung stunt performers). Since the silent film era, they have quietly dedicated themselves to film productions. Countless works have come to fruition through their efforts, and it can be said that they have made the entire film industry possible. To them, I pay my respects.
Kidding (2018)
Masterpiece in any way
I discovered this drama after watching a video of a scene being posted on Reddit. I was amazed by its excellent camera work and immediately found the drama to watch.
It left me astonished and I gave it a 10 stars without hesitation. The first thing that shocked me was its story and dialogue. It had humor and enough appeal, as well as intense and realistic emotions like a storm. The genuine performances of the actors, meticulously crafted sets and props, and masterful camera work throughout created an impeccable masterpiece.
Although the drama has a very gray tone, it has the ability to soothe people's pain and deeply explore the relationships between career, family, love, work, and society.
The drama only has two seasons, but it ended at the perfect place. It is worth watching for everyone and is undoubtedly a masterpiece.
