Aftertaste (2021)
Loved it... just have fun with it
I loved it, not to mention it was filmed around where I live, so that was charming. However I loved the script, many laugh out loud giggles, loved the characters. People seem critical of the bad language (reminiscent of Gordon Ramsay so suitable for an entitled famous Chef) but it didn't bother me. The pace was good, it rollicked along without getting stuck. Loved the food ideas especially Diana's fabulous dessert ideas. Marvellous. Someone criticised the restaurant not being up to code or the kitchen not havjbg stainless steel benches. Calm down. Don't take it all so seriously. It's good fun, just go with it!
Day Shift (2022)
So much damn fun
Just relax and have a laugh. This fun movie doesn't take itself too seriously so go along for the ride with light-hearted banter, LOTS of action, a fast pace and an enjoyable romp... if not lots of killing. But, hey, it's vampires!
Copshop (2021)
Enjoyable Guns for Hire
Enjoyable shoot 'em up good cops, bad cops, bad guys romp that doesn't take itself too seriously. Toby Huss and Alex Louder were particularly memorable in this fast action who-can-you-trust bounty hunter flick. Never a dull moment. It's set up for Part Two so I hope we get one.
Guns, Girls and Gambling (2012)
Fabulous Fun
Pure entertainment. I love this movie, it's just a huge amount of fun. It's not too serious but it's very engaging, very watchable. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show. Isn't that what entertainment should be?
The Unforgivable (2021)
Heartfelt and Convincing
Sandra Bullock gives a powerful performance with wonderful support actors in a heartfelt story. The script kept the pace moving. Whilst not a new plot, this is a film that conveys a message about assumptions, trust, change and the power of memories.
Bruised (2020)
Engaging and Brave
Ignore the bad reviews. This is an engaging movie that's more about resilience and compassion than fighting. Halle Berry was believable as a fighter both in and out of the cage. Watch it and make up your own mind, ignore the critics. It's an engaging and brave movie.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Tarantino mixed with Guy Ritchie and a bit of Robert Rodriguez
Loved it. I had no expectations but the modern jazz and hip hop music mixed with good old fashioned Western scenes was a hit with me. With a kill list that rivalled John Wick, the performances were fabulously menacing in parts and subtly humorous in others. Different, fun, action filled, loved the script too. I'll watch it again and I hope there is Part 2.
Finch (2021)
Suspend disbelief and have a good time
I loved it. I watch movies to be entertained, to reflect, to feel something, to be moved, to be excited, to suspend disbelief and get lost in characters I care about. Tom Hanks is a perennial favourite, however the gorgeous dog and delightful robot also carried this film. Critics be damned, I loved it and I cared about it. It's a lovely film.
Rogue (2020)
Not too bad
The bad reviews are really harsh, and undeserving. OK, no Oscar winning performances but each player was actually pretty good. You got to like the 'goodies' and wanted the baddies to get their just deserts. The CGI wasn't spectacular but this movie had a message that I liked - war is very very tough, there are no winners and plenty of sad, bullied and threatened participants. Plus the disgusting breeding of wild animals for the vain and ego driven Asian medical market... we were cheering for the Lions for sure. Entertaining and with a message. OK by me.
Project 12: The Bunker (2016)
Enjoyable and fast paced
Whilst the plot isn't really original, it moves along at a good pace with some reasonable acting. It's entertaining, and doesn't pretend to be anything else. We found it enjoyable for a wet and cold weekend.
Dead in a Week (Or Your Money Back) (2018)
Quirky and Fun
Loved it. Highly watchable and loads of fun. The premise is a bit suspect, however grab the popcorn 🍿 relax and enjoy 😉
Bad Blood (2017)
Gritty and Surprising
Loved it. As a fan of gritty series including Ozark, Yellowstone and Sons of Anarchy, I really enjoyed both seasons and would love a third season. The writing was very good, great dialogue, tension filled plots, good acting. Kim Coates is charismatic supported by a great cast. I've seen less than stellar reviews, people are entitled to their opinions. I think its well worth a third season.
Boss Level (2020)
Action + Humour
Totally enjoyable. Great action, fast paced, humorous, not predictable, excellent editing, solid direction, watchable actors, fun script, hugely entertaining.
Love and Monsters (2020)
Come Up For Air
I loved this movie. Charming script. Tender moments. Great monsters (not all bad). Adorable dog. Just a bit different. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl due to monster-pocalypse, boy seeks girl again, boy finds dog named boy, boy and boy find girl, boy realises he's more of a man than he ever imagined. Entertaining with excellent special effects. I'd watch it again... and again.
Den 12. mann (2017)
An incredible feat of survival
It was mesmerising, I couldn't stop watching. Fantastic performances, excellent script, incredibly tough locations, amazing story... a must see movie.
Bulletproof (2018)
Both enjoyable and gritty
I enjoyed both series. OK so there's humour and incredible camaraderie between the lead characters... it lightens the seriousness of tackling intense crime. The two leads are incredibly likeable, I'd want them on my team. Some of the criticism is way too harsh... I found Bulletproof romped along at a good speed, had great performances and believable plots. Even The Sweeny had humour. I'd watch a third series. Good job, guys.
Outback (2019)
Solid performances to hold the screen for 90 mins
OK, so these guys have zero idea about how to survive in the Australian outback... they are AMERICANS people!! However, the two leads gave solid performances that held the screen for 90 minutes. The story was a bit weak, not enough real tension or nail biting scenarios, but the direction and performances were good.
